Oh, I've had plenty! LOL. I think the most often is having a foundation the wrong shade. I don't do it intentionally, but my neck and check have a weird skin tone, and nothing matches. I even went to Sephora and had them do the SkinIQ and I bought something in my matching color and it was so orange on me :(
This is WONDERFUL! All so true! I do see a lot of girls applying their makeup like the left side in college etc :-/ Sharing this with my friends, just fab hun xx
All these girls saying "Don't let anyone tell you different! Wear your makeup however you want!" Yeah ooooooookay. So you're telling me that a girl can wear 10 lbs of blush and you're not gonna look at her weird??
My beauty pet peve is when girls wear that silvery white shade under their brow or all over their eye, especially when they have tan skin- it just doesnt do their beauty ANY justice, doesnt blend at all and looks cheap- or the purple pink lip stick shade- so unflattering on so many skin tones but so many girls do it because they saw a friend or beauty guru use it or review it. Great video :)
That NYX foundation shade is bringing back some memories of people in highschool....yeesh! Incidentally, I think my biggest makeup mistake was letting the girls I knew back then scare me off makeup! I didn't understand how they couldn't see they looked like they were wearing orange masks, and I was worried I'd try makeup and be blind to the disastrous results too! You possibly don't remember this but it wasn't until college, when you sent me a message telling me you'd set up a youtube channel for makeup tips, that I actually tried doing anything beyond mascara and chapstick! What I'm trying to say is.....I have you to thank for a massive addiction to makeup products, which will probably one day lead to my very own episode of Hoarders. Thank...you?
Kim kardashian is tanned and she waers concelor that is 3 shades lighter then her skin. It can work on the right people I think the key is blending. Its good to at least highlight under your eye to brighten your look or your eyes will look tired. If you are pale then there is no way you can highlight because you can't go lighter with concelor for your skin. I think the highlight works only on olive to medium light skin.. dark skin it could look bad but thats only if you don't cancel it out using a darker powder brush
My often mistakes probably choosing a lighter tone foundation for my skin tone. I haven't found one that matches my real skin tone.. it's always too pale or too light, but darker foundations don't match mine too. Guess I have got to try swatching for more shades carefully.
great video. it's so annoying that every damn time i go to sephora or makeup counters, the ladies try to insist that a too-dark foundation "matches" my face. UGH!!!!!! and then they get all offended when i try to tell them i need the foundation to match my neck and that all fndns oxidize on me so i need the LIGHTEST yellow-based color.
You are one of my top makeup guru!!! I love how your videos arent always just slapping makeup on. You actually explain how and why !!! :D super helpful and your videos are not even super long to explain how you did it ! :D thanks :3 lots of love ! ♥♥
I'm guilty of putting on too much blush (mostly because I'm pretty light, and I used too much force when applying blush). Now it's all lighter strokes and tapping the brush on the case.
My biggest mistake when I was younger was not blending down my neck properly so I had a foundation line! Ahhhh! Lol and also picking foundation that was far too pink toned for my skin, last one is putting on my makeup in non natural light so it turned out looking too dark or I'd be wearing far too much makeup than I needed! Glad I have improved so much since then :)
this was well done x) helpful tip for the under eye thing considering everyone told me to use a lighter concealer.. ha (constantly have them as i have fibromyalgia) and i'm very sensitive to chemicals/perfume&scents but wouldn't mind finding something i could use, hmm.
1. Not blending foundation to my neck (although I was very particular about the shade and in the worst case scenario I would buy the one that was a bit too light for me) 2. Not filling my eyebrows 3. Not setting foundation with the powder 4. Not using any make up except for foundation, mascara (and occasionally a lip gloss, usually just a lip balm) till I was 28! Luckily before I started using blushes, bronzers, filling my eyebrows etc. I watched a ton of youtube beauty videos including yours of course! now I'm 30 and I think I'm pretty good at makeup lol
It's totally fine to use a lighter concealer under your eyes to act as a highlight (not too bright however) but just use a different concealer - one that matches your skintone to conceal blemishes. :)
This reminded me of when I was obsessed with wearing light foundation and bronzer hahaha! Such a memory thankfully now since I've been learning more I've adopted a foundation and powder to match my skin tone!
Great video! Didactic and informative, as always. My biggest makeup mistake is not blending out my eyeliner on my lower lash line, thus giving me a very harsh look.
so true we have all been trough that, what kind of brand do you use for your foundation? my skin is as light and fair as your but its hard for me to find light shades
I think that you are beautiful, with or without makeup! Even if you have a few pimples, your natural features and skin are beautiful. I am extremely jealous!
amazing dear, I still remember that exactly what happen when i was just beginning wearing full makeup, but luckily I realize "that doesn't look right..." =)
Great video. My makeup mistakes tend to skew the other way. To borrow a phrase from your video, it's kind of a nude look versus a NUDE look situation. When I try to make it a little more dramatic it always looks like overkill to me. Still trying to find a good balance.
I have trouble finding a good foundation match because my neck tends to naturally be more tanned from years of sun exposure. I have found a couple that I mix that I think work ok for now.
I really found this useful, informational and clear, as your usual. I am happy there's someone who says to the "jersey girls" types what not to wear, cause if you overdo it's not flattering. Very interesting the beard bronzer tip. But honestly I personally do like the concealer to be lighter on your undereyes and I found it pretty on your "not to do" side of the face, not the same thing with covering pimples though. Also, I do not agree with doing eyebrows the thick way you did on the "not to do side", I don't think it's ok and I don't think it's not to blame. Someone should explain that it does show like too much, unnatural and as you said too caroonish and that instead of shaving one's brows and then draw them as if we were dolls it's ridiculous, natural is beutiful and as long as we keep our brows clean, in the right shape and if needed a bit filled we are all good.
I know a 'youtube' make up artist that does layers of foundation/highlighter/bronzer/concealers/shimmers/illuminators/mineralised skin finishes plus mac's fix spray.......I find it fascinating to watch her put 10 layers of different products on her face when her complexion isn't bad to start with !!! ...she hardly pays any attention to her eyes !!!! :) xxx
These mistakes....I see it all the time on other women! I've been one of them as well! I use to love nude lipsticks until someone told me that I look ghastly pale and the shade was all wrong! :) I still find choosing the right lipstick colour rather intimidating, so ive settled for lip glosses!
Oh I have seen this on girls and wanted to say something! I sure wish someone would have told me when I did it! Listen to Sinead ladies! This chick knows her makeup!
I'm going to try to start wearing makeup mainly for just special occasions and after watching this video for tips I've realized that many people wear makeup wrong! Lol but either way makeup is a matter of opinion.
I've always hated that when I had my makeup done at the counter. They have used a light concealer. Which just made my dark circles show up even more. The only one that didn't was Mac. I'm an nw20 in foundation and they matched my concealer too a nw25.
Is it okay if you fix a foundation lighter than u by applying some bronzer? Not too much but just a little so the colour of the foundation can match a bit more..I've been doing this for forever and I seem to think it looks good on me.. But what if that's just me 😳😔am I doing this wrongly?
Hi, I need help with my foundation shade. I have really pasty, pale skin and i use the Maybelline Dream Satin liquid foundation or other drugstore foundations, i always get the lightest shade there is but it is still too dark on my skin and i cant get away with it unless i rub it into my neck aswell, it doesnt blend into my skin. It isnt like a completely different colour, but i would like one that matched so it doesnt leave an orange patch on my hand if that makes sense
***** I tried out the no7 match service (UK Thing) Where they test your skin with a machine to see which foundation would suit you best. I was there lightest colour! (Well , i couldve worked that one out by myself xD) It blends but after powder it does look slightly darker still - im going to try and look for a good transparent powder
You can absolutely use a lighter shade of concealer under your eyes in a triangle shape as a highlight, it looks great. I think what she's trying to say is that while it works great as a highlight, it won't actually conceal your dark circles, and you generally don't want to be highlighting your dark circles. If you don't have very noticeable dark circles, then don't worry about it, but if you do, you can use a color correcting concealer with a pink/salmon undertone just over the dark circles and then layer the lighter concealer over top of it to highlight. A lot of people use MAC prep & prime highlighter as it comes in various shades with a pinky-peach undertone, but there's tons of color correcting concealers out there.
When I was about 14 I used to pile on the mascara because I had no idea eyelash curlers existed! These days my main makeup mistake is buying foundations/tinted moisturisers that are too pink for my pale yellow skin. It's so hard to find good yellow toned pale shades!
My mistakes are using too much blush! I can do everything perfect but for some reason I always overdo it on my blush, so I always have to use an easy hand when applying
I used to be bad for wearing foundation darker than my skin.. It was because i'm really pale and the foundation was 01 Ivory. But it was still too dark! D: I now use Bobbi Brown makeup and they helped me find the right shade for my skin. I'm happy now. :P
I having trouble finding a good concealer that matches my skin tone. Either too dark or too light. Any suggestions on that? I tried mixing them together but it doesn't always work.
I made that bronzer mistake lol..not cute, didn't realize that I had forgotten to blend it in and as soon as I walked outside I ran back to fix it up...the lighting isn't the best in my apartment but now I open the blinds and let the natural light in while I do my makeup now...lesson learned
So you said lighter concealer highlights your imperfections, but darker concealer brings out the bag under your eyes. I am so confused right now. So what kind of concealer should I use to conceal my imperfections??
You shouldn't buy foundation that's THAT much darker than your skin color but most makeup artists say you should buy one that is 1 shade darker than your skin color. You shouldn't get one that matches exactly with your color or you'll look too pale. I once asked for a foundation sample at Sephora so they did the skin color check and got me a color sample that matched exactly my color. When I got home and tried it out I hated it. It really did make me look too pale.
They say because most of the time our neck is darker than our face so we can match our body color. If you wear fake tan then also you should do this and if you're really pale you will be washed out in photographs that's when you need some darker shade.:)
I love how you presented this in a kind, non condescending way. Great tips!!
I've made these mistakes too, I think we all do :)
We all make makeup mistakes, let me know your biggest makeup mistake or mistakes you see others make...love ya! Xoxo
Mine were to mix a dark eye with red lips at the same time. :o
clumpy masccara is something we all do... :)
I cant work well with blushes :(
I have a hard time with brows.. from shaping to filling in, this is the area I always say 'that sucks' about:(
Oh, I've had plenty! LOL. I think the most often is having a foundation the wrong shade. I don't do it intentionally, but my neck and check have a weird skin tone, and nothing matches. Yesss ma'am
I have beer been confident in being able to do makeup but watching your videos has given me the boost I need! Thank you so much for your guidance 😊
Your videos are always straight to the point and you never ramble. I love that!

hehe oh I totally based this look on one of the girls from science class lol Not naming names lol You're welcome! hehe (evil laugh)
I love how all your vids are informative, short, and simple!
Unfortunately in the UK most girls go out wearing your "left side". I think they actually like the look!!!
Her left side is with the perfect make-up. What the hell's your point?
The left side is the one with the darker foundation, cartoony eyebrows and pale lip gloss. No point. Just stating out the fact.
Maria Spyrou Nope, that's YOUR left side, not her's.
ChaoticSoap Hence the quotes around the words left side.

You have become one of my favorite TH-cam gurus! Love your videos, they're so helpful.

Thanks so much for all your help in your videos. I'm learning a lot since makeup has changed since I was younger.
You are the BEST, most direct and good light plus short videos with only the topic in it instead of blah blah blah :D LOVE YOU!!!!

FINALLYYYY! A legitimate and informative video. All I see is sarcastic exaggeration which sometimes gets annoying. Thank you so much for this!
That was REALLY creative! Brilliant video!

I haven't been on TH-cam lately and missed your videos so much because they are extremely helpful and you are such a sweet beautiful girl.
Brilliant video. Ive done all of the above 😩☺️ love your videos
Thank you for introducing me to Blank Canvas Cosmetics! I got the pro set and I'm in love. Thank you thank you thank you!
Yup, definitely the light concealer part, especially when i tried to cover up my acne and my forehead was lighter than the rest of my face :c
amazing dear, I still remember that exactly what happen when i was just beginning wearing full makeup, but luckily I realize "that doesn't look right..." =)

Loved this. it is so true some people use the wrong foundation and it ruins the whole look.
I love all of ur video eventhough some of the makeups are not available in indonesia.... Pleaseeeee more often filming!!! Coz i loooveee it
I love how all your videos are short and sweet but are so helpful! These tips are really great, thank you! By the way, do you live in Ireland?:)
I have trouble finding a good foundation match because my neck tends to naturally be more tanned from years of sun exposure. I have found a couple that I mix that I think work ok for now.
You should match your foundation to your neck
What you said about the concealer and the blush was really helpful! :)
i love how you're irish and you have american accent in your videos and i adore youuu
Thank you for sharing these tips about the don'ts in doing makeup now girls can perfect their styles with ease.
Hi. I was wondering what that palette u used was? I love it and I think it would be perfect for me. Please let me know.
Can you do a video on how to find the perfect nude lip? And what lipstick are you wearing on the correct makeup side.
even with bad makeup Sineady still looks gorgeous!

Great video! Really enjoyable and kinda amazing to see how many of these mistakes we make every day! :) I always bring in bronzer too far lol :)

You could try mixing white foundation with what you use. Various brands make them these days.
So what should you use to conceal under eyes? Apparently I've been doing it wrong with the lighter shade.
You can absolutely use a lighter shade of concealer under your eyes in a triangle shape as a highlight, it looks great. Thank you! I will definitely try the salmon/pink concealer. Makes more sense.
No problem!
Is it just me, or does the makeup on the left look like something a Kardashian would do? Haha
That was my favorite video !! Very well done !
When I was about 14 I used to pile on the mascara because I had no idea eyelash curlers existed! These days my main makeup mistake is buying foundations/tinted moisturisers that are too pink for my pale yellow skin. It's so hard to find good yellow toned pale shades!
I make mistakes when applying blush I never know how dark or not to do it n thanks for a great video x
Hey does anyone know if she has any videos in which she shows how to blend foundation so it doesn't look cakey? Especially a matte one?
You are totally gorgeous! Great tips
Great video, so many people apply way too much bronzer!
Yup a lot of ppl are walking around like that! Nice work
I love your videos! Please never stop making videos :)
Sometimes I overdue it on the brows! Lol! Also not good with bronzing, so I tend to skip out that on that all together!
Can you make a video on how to prevent the smudging eyeliner on the waterline ?
Always have a clumpy mascara and a white eye either concealer is light or cakes up when adding powder
You're so lovely to watch. Subbed
I LOVE YOU SOFIA ❤️❤️❤️❤️

My mistakes are using too much blush! I can do everything perfect but for some reason I always overdo it on my blush, so I always have to use an easy hand when applying
love it! so simple and helpful!
Haha can you imagine if you went out like that? the looks you would get! But once again another great tutorial.
Thanks Becky! Thanks for always leaving lovely comments x Have a great day!
No problem, Thanks for always making entertaining videos! You too x
oh this is a very good demonstration!!
I used to be bad for wearing foundation darker than my skin.. It was because i'm really pale and the foundation was 01 Ivory. But it was still too dark! D:
I now use Bobbi Brown makeup and they helped me find the right shade for my skin. I'm happy now. :P
This is such a good video! Great tips and reminders
What lipstick did you wear on the "good side"? Really enjoyed this video, thank you!
YSL Shade 4 I think :)
Thanks, I will take a look! :)
So instead of using a light concealer *i do this **-.-*, do we use something that matches our skin tone??
Story of my life 😩😩 that's why I love all if your vids
Loves this video..I too have made lotsa makeup mistakes haha ❤️❤️
if you’re not supposed to use a lighter concealer, what DO you use? if you do a dark concealer, it will make the bags worse.... help?
So you said lighter concealer highlights your imperfections, but darker concealer brings out the bag under your eyes. I am so confused right now. So what kind of concealer should I use to conceal my imperfections??
Light concealer I'm guilty if that! Lol but is it okay to use light concealer under eyes?
Thank u for the video but how can I find the perfect nude lipstick??
I love your nails 😊 Are those MOYou?
I cam never find the right shade of foundation for my skin, I am really pale. Any suggestions for brands to try for pale skin?
Such a great video Sinead
what color ur lipstick is? i reaaly love it
You shouldn't buy foundation that's THAT much darker than your skin color but most makeup artists say you should buy one that is 1 shade darker than your skin color.
