    I loved your video. And, oddly enough, I enjoyed the soundtrack. But watching it really bummed me out. I'm old. This was my early teen years place to be. I haven't been there in over 20 years. I'm hoping to go back one last time before they bulldoze the place.

      Wasn't there a Big Boy across from Olga's?

      @@mortb9 actually across from Olga's was Friendly's ice cream shop. The big boy was in the lower-level JCPenney Court across from Arby's

      @@larrysmith937 I don't remember the ice cream shop. And I thought the Arby's was on the upper level. I loved that Arby's!!! 40 years can really erase a lot of memories. I'm hoping to go walk around one more time before they bulldoze it.

    I can smell that place. So sad to see it so empty. Spent a lot of my teenage years in the 80’s walking these floors cruising for
    Chicks, eating acid and trying to get drunk.

      It was a great place. The prospect of going out to a public shopping center to meet chicks is so different now. Dating apps, people don't want you to approach them, nobody wants to meet anybody. Lakeside Mall was a great place and time. The smells was legit!

      I don't get the eating acid part, but I spent a lot of my youth in the 80's there too. lol

    I think the pandemic did the final punch for this place. It was already dying before the pandemic. But once it started, it just finished it. I remember going here when it was still commonly crowded. I will miss this place. Say goodbye to Lakeside Mall and hello to some random apartments. They should just tear it down and leave it be, and not build some random apartments.

      lord & taylor closing i feel also played a big role in the final nail in the coffin

    I wonder if this counts as a dead mall

    • @mortb9
      @mortb9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's about to get bulldozed. That's about as dead as it gets.

      @mergat2970 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mortb9 there are still businesses inside, and they have some plans to build some mixed use complex. Where did you hear it's about to get bulldozed?

    • @mortb9
      @mortb9 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mergat2970 FRom what I understood, the Sterling Hts. city council approved a plan to redevelop the property. It didn't sound to me like they were planning to leave any of the mall standing, but maybe I misunderstood.

      @@mergat2970 TH-cam usually deletes non TH-cam links, but if you search Lakeside Mall redevelopment, there is an article that mentions demolition is expected to begin in 2025.

      @@mortb9 oh yea if they are going through with the plans, the mall is definitely going to be demolished, which is unfortunate because a good part of my childhood was spent in that mall
