C&O Canal Trail is one of those epic trails in the US. Lots of history and beautiful nature. I keep going back there year by year. This was my third or fourth time riding it and I'm sure that next year I'm gonna be back there. 👍
I backpacked and bike toured this trail many times. It has excellent bird watching and fishing spots. Camped at most the campsites. Thanks for posting.
I agree it's a great trail. I haven't specifically birded there but I can see that it's an excellent area for birding. I have rode this trail three times. 👍
The C&O is great. Thanks for sharing. We are cycling near Quebec City for a couple of months. You might want to put it on your list. Canada has some great cycling and Via Rail.

The C&O Canals trail is 185 miles long and follows the Potomac River. Lots of history and nature wonderland.
I rode thru Paw Paw tunnel. Bring a headlight 🔦.
Yes you need a headlight there but a cool tunnel 👍

It really is an enjoyable trail to ride on sunny days but in rain it can get some places a little muddy.

I don't think there are any bears but who knows maybe, it's crossing the AT and Appalachian trail has bears
