Just cuz you said you don't know the difference: Personification is when you give something human-like qualities. For example: "The leaves danced in the wind" Metaphor is a rhetorical device when something is referred directly to something it isn't. Example: "She is a walking dictionary"
A metaphor is comparing something that is the opposite to the other like “she cried a river of tears” while a personification gives human characteristics to non living things so basically like an animal talking-

No because animals are still living things, a good example of personification is "these trees danced in the wind"
