This was my first episode. Over a fortnight I downloaded and watched all 5 seasons just in time for 601 to debut. I honestly loved these characters as much as both the classic and next gen Enterprise crews

The original series was about understanding cultures and trying to get along with different races and species. The producers of this particular fan series understood that and continue the tradition. Hence the gay characters. One would think that in a show set over 300 years from now homophobia would be gone. Thank goodness for this show that it is gone. The show is about good characters whose stories span SEASONS of this fan series. We get to see how they grow as people and the progress they make in their personal and professional lives. Thank you Rob Caves and your entire crew for "Hidden Frontier"!

Its not about hating, its a out how you people and your agendas you force on us strates and purposefully abuse our childrens minds with your dysfunctional thinking and chromosomes......
At no time are we warned or told that this has homo content in it....
Us trekkies are here to watch what we are told is Star Trek, which traditionally is a family safe show to enjoy with ones children together......
No adult lockout where a child of 5 could watch this on their phones, again, no warnings about pillow biting content or chocolate donut making material....... so as a family we sit down and all of a sudden we start wretching the food we just ate watching 2 "boy love" homos spit swap each other and rub tongues and body parts together......
As adults we were shocked to see this dysfunctional behaviour from 2 disabled chromosome deficiant invalid individuals, and as for our children (2) they also were sick and disturbed by this kind of offensive abnormal disgusting behaviour.....
I normally believe in live and let live, and if 2 guys want to walk through the park holding hands together, then i guess thats just barely tollerable, but on my tv in my home infront of my children with no forewarning..... NO....
IM NOT HAVING FAGGOT MATERIAL ON MY TV, INFRONT OF MY CHILDREN, there was no warning, there was no 18 classification and lockout for adult material...... IT WAS JIST FORCED UPON US, vulgar boy love spit swappers licking eachothers lips as though they were tasting each others ring pieces.....
Disgusting and fowl behaviour, my daughter just broke down and cried she was that sickened, as for my younger son, he just couldn't believe what he was seeing, and im wondering when the delayed grief will strike and what the cost of the psychiatrists will be to heal his traumatised mind.
Im going to apply to utube to have this whole series pulled down and explain what the effects of this un announced queer fagot behaviour will have on for example an 8 year olds vaunerable mind, and if there are any paedophiles here waiting for children to ask questions about homo boy love, so they can visit the kids and rape them....
Nobody know what kind of effects this homo content can have on children.... we wasnt even given a warning that deviant content was going to be displayed on our televisions.....
I dont even know if i have a legal case here against the film makers who obviously dont care what children of any age see so they are obviously all gay as they cant have or make children..........
      Truly appaled.

Perversions is usually in the mind of the viewer, no necessarily in those involved. Meaning that definitions are extremely fluid. What goes on in adult sentient beings' mind is a matter of their being adults. Also, I have little doubt that most "perversions" are social constructs. Doing no harm to others is more in the realm of survival instincts. Just saying...

First of all I commend everyone in this movie. They are to be commended for working hard keeping the Star Trek saga alive. I am aware most of the actors are volunteers and deserve our thanks. Having given credit to the hard working actors. may I kindly suggest some changes? Most importantly the cast needs to act more militaristic. There is too much "over acting" in that some of the actors are trying too hard to be "dramatic". Military people speak quickly and to the point. Military people do not sound like Dr. Phill !! Finally the gay couple need to realize just because they are gay does not mean they must sound like timid school girls.. Again thanks to the cast for an enjoyable story.

The "gay couple" need to walk to an air hatch and open it into space and take their dysfunctional chromosomes and float out into space taking their std's and whatever else they have contracted from the people they have shared and taken other peoples bodily fluids into them selves from, and remove all those infections and conditions from a normal society that is clean and dosent share rectanal contents between there multiple affairs and partners these "couples" normally have in there non commited relationships they have, as most of the crew here is gay anyway and im sure they all like to share their fluids amongs each other through feltching and other methods of collection (2 guys and 1 straw anyone?).

Yanno, I'm really sick of the homophobic bullshit around here. There aren't that many comments in the first place, and to see so much of this as a ratio to other comments, pisses me off. Now, I'm no dyed-armpit dumbass, but for crying out loud, how is this any different than Uhura kissing Kirk, and all the DS9 episodes that focused on Miles and Keiko, simply combined together? _It's two people that love each other._ One of which happens to be from a race that combines with a symbiotic life form that carries a collective consciousness, and can _change gender with each host._ Hell, even Sisko had a fleeting thought about Jadzia Dax, _after having been extremely close to Kurzon_ (and probably sharing the same woman once or twice, perhaps at the same time).
Star Trek has done "relationship" stories before. Either as main plots or continuing subplots. How, again, is this any more offensive than a Betazed banging a Klingon? Or a Klingon and a human? Or any other combination of extraterrestrial races? Just because it's two males? What about Spock? That should be extra offensive right there given Vulcan culture - a Vulcan engaging in _Pon farr_ with an illogical, emotionally-driven *alien* ?
You all REALLY need to get over yourselves and enjoy the story.

    • @calanon534
      @calanon534 ปีที่แล้ว

@Stephen Goes against nature..? You REALLY WANT that Rabbit Hole?
Here's an underground theory that might rock your socks: There are scientists out there - biologists and geneticists - that have proven homosexuality can be a biological trait. The overall theory is that it's an in-code methodology of population control - that our DNA can flip attraction from opposite to same sex in response to external stimuli that somehow tells the affected being that they are in an overpopulated zone. And, thus, their DNA then tells them "stop reproducing."
There was a groundbreaking article in the 1990's where a geneticist made a few thousand flies all gay by editing a specific part of their DNA. It was apparently very easy to do, as though this switch could be thrown at any time.
Problem is, the Gay Mafia didn't like that, so any further research was intentionally stopped. Which makes sense - if they think for a second that non-homosexuals could alter them to be non-homosexual with forced genetic therapy, that's a violation of their person. They'd be acting out of self-preservation.
Soooo.. there's strong evidence that you are, in fact, wrong - that homosexuality is natural, and is in fact a method in our DNA to address the issue of local overpopulation through alteration of the process by which one seeks companionship.

I think its safe to assume all joined trills are bisexual. Then again one can't define aliens by human standards so who knows. But I would be surprised if after living multiple lives as both males and females one could remain attracted to only one gender.

The Gaying up of Star Trek, is starting to get a little much, while having a gay partnership on board and exploring that aspect of humanity and showing that society had finally overcome homophobia, and didnt persecute Gay or Bi people any longer is a very good thing. But to focus upon it every episode as the main story instead of exploring it for several episodes and then going back to just normal type Star Trek episodes with the.knowledge that the gay couple is there and acknowledging them from time to time and throwing in an episode or 2 now and then focusing on them , does not serve the vision of Roddenberry the way it should and cheapens this series because it shows the writers obviously have an Agenda to push, I've noticed that very few of the actors even look like a strong athletic male even the

Whenever gay people are presented in main stream stories in a substantive way ( aka not as just comic relief) there are always people that see as pushing some woke agenda. To be fair at times that may be part of it but even if so who cares? If a segment of the population (10% by lowest estimates) has always been excluded why get all bent out of shape if some new generation comes along and wants to present same sex relationships as normal?
      .
If one feels like the writers are trying to shove gayness down their throat (giggity) then they should try empathizing with people who grow up gay who have heterosexual relationships shoved in their faces almost nonstop. While representation in sci fi isn't going to heal any of societies ills, it can only be a good thing is some gay kid out there who sees having a same sex relationship is a think that happens fairly often and is just a normal thing that happens. Hopefully one day gayness will be regarded the way left handedness is today - just one of those traits that pops up about 10% of the time in people but essentially no big deal.

@@Antifag1977 Whilst I absolutely agree with your sentiments, I think that you've slightly missed the point of the comment - by focusing on this one theme so heavily, and repeatedly, the creators miss the opportunity to further explore other social issues in the essence of Trek within the limited time frame of each episode, and will illicit a negative response in those who are bigoted, eliminating the opportuinty to explore the issue for those whose minds are still small enough to require such.
Personally, I find it very difficult to comprehend that any fan of Trek can be homophobic (or mysogynistic, misandric, racist or any other form of bloody prejudice), though evidently that is the case having read lots of comment threads on these wonderful films (including below) this last month or so since I first found them. But accepting homosexuality doesn't require the emasculation of all men, nor such a heavy plot focus. Indeed, it becomes presciptive in the manner in which gay men should themselves behave - which is illogical in the extreme. It's equally valid for men of all character to be gay, or should be. And for heterosexual/other men to not be effeminate.
Even were the plot to mandate the focus on the sex lives of these characters (and I can't see that it should - their romantic lives would be sufficient), the message would be better delivered by mixing in other forms of sexuality and identity, in order that they are readily contrastable, and not mandating/proscriptive. ... I'm perhaps not expressing that very well, but it's just about message delivery.
We don't need to sell sexual equality to those who aren't prejudiced in order to bring about greater equality, but to those who aren't receptive to such ideas (for whatever reason), and it's much easier to do that when homosexuality is presented as what it is - just one of many life style choices that aren't really the concern of anybody not involved.
Having a couple of scenes throughout the serries would be perfectly adequate to make the point that in an egalitarian society nobody would care about sexuality, but by making it so inescapably prominant throughout every episode the opposite becomes true. The message is then one not of, look we're all equal now and this is how it should be in an equal and fair society, but rather more: OI YOU STOP HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THIS!
The two messages are likely to have entirely different results.
I respect the point about the lack of gay protaganists, role models and story arcs etc in MSM over the decades, mind. It's very true, but again, one has to consider what they are trying to achieve and whether we aid or harm that goal with how we put forth our ideas (which is what making films is about, commuinicating our ideas through story).
I wouldn't have written this, because I'm worried it might be taken the wrong way, except my autistic son has been watching with me. Whilst quite intelligent in some ways, he usually doesn't pick up on social issues without direct conversation about them/excessive prompting, yet even he was questioning why the message need be so strong - unprompted - before the end of this episode. We've binge watched quite a lot this last few weeks though, so perhaps it just feels a bit more concentrated in his/our minds than if we'd watched the various series episodically. And, perhaps there is an element of recency bias seeping in (there was also a very heavily prominent gay-friendly, emasculated male role theme in the Star trek Continues series we just watched too, with plenty more bedroom scenes that perhaps would not have been as steamy were other forms of relationship involved), but social messaging (/manipulation) is best achieved through gentle nudging, rather than anything that sets people off feeling confronted.
Annoying, I know. And I wish it weren't so, but... yeah.
Anyway, I hope I've added a bit of food for thought for any other inspiring creators.
      Live long, and peacefully prosper.
