In this video we clean, paint, and start our Rover 416GSi for the first time in over 20 years. Hopefully we will have it driving in the next one so stay tuned! 👍
Well done for saving it not many left on the road nowadays , my late father had one and it was rapid you can get 130mph from one of these , even the little 1.4 was nippy too and these cars were very comfy compared to modern cars
Had the 216 (honda) so I can vouch for how useable and effortless to drive these cars are. K series (need I really go there) are the engines to avoid unless you have a bill for an upgraded gasket being fitted; I heard Lotus did this to their K engines when they fitted them to their cars...but don't quote me on that. Great vid by the way.
These were class-leading cars in their day. Honda engines were amongst the best too. The Golf & the Peugeot 306 were also good contenders. Escort was terrible by then.
We plan to put it through an MOT in the coming weeks, use it for a while, take it to show the family who gave it to us and then eventually move it on. We’ve plenty other projects to be getting on with 😂
Good old Honda D16 non-vtec. Bullet proof old engines.
Great job so far

Lovely car pal very rare now, get it serviced n rust proofed n use a ton of zinc primer to preserve it until restored. 👍

Cavalier takes the crown for me, but I am quite partial to the R8 Rover
Great update nice to see an Old Rover being restored rather than scrapped. What are you're plans for it?
