Hey! If you're wondering why my arg sucks is mostly because it was my first time, in the "melon video" the door covering the dark room blows off and glitches the sound. I will be making a new and original gmod arg very soon, thanks for support.
Good to hear my dude, this genre needs all the original arg's it can get. Or else it'll become overrun by people clowning it like the first guy and it would just ruin something with a lot of potential.
This whole ARGmod boom that's happening right now reminds me a lot of when Local58 blew up and a bunch of knockoffs came out the woodwork, they were very derivative of local58 and pretty much ripoffs but they slowly gained ways to stand out and give an identity of their own and generally forming the genre of analog horror. The thing that buggged me the most about Vintage Gmod Movies is the usage of VHS filters on Gmod footage. It tries to be spooky but looks incredibly out of place and nonsensical on a PC game made around 2004. It reminds me of how No Players Online based itself on 90s arena shooters but used 80s aestheticcs with PS1 graphics.
36:04 This is actually a sample of "The Stranger" character from Cry-Of-Fear. When the character is killed it starts convulsing and plays that sound before vanishing.
55:21 this is not part of construct or something they edited into their version of the map, it is actually a popular horror map called "Horror: The Underground" and they would not have been able to have access to this map in gmod 9 until after gmod 12 as the map was released in 2014.
The Strange "Morse" Sound that plays around 35:57 sounds a Lot like the Dying sound of a Cry-of-fear Monster Dying (It's a Half-life Horror mod) named the "Stranger."
In half-life 2 it is possible to get past the door for nova prospekt, but it requires a prop to be thrown in the way of the door. vintage gmod movies has pretty good production when it comes to the content of the videos, but as for the story, unnesecary puzzles, and inconsistent presentation, it all falls apart. 21:41 I think it's worth noting that there isn't an invisible wall there. Valve being as large brained as they are just... Didn't add one. They relied solely on the door closing to block the player, but it's relatively easy to jam the door / get propelled through it before it closes.
Me and some other people on gmod have found this save called "My first Memories." I have never made a save called that, and no one else I know of who has found this save on their gmod made it. It's some phenomenon or something
expressing opinions time (and clearing up some stuff) first, the reversed music. the creator of the video, IC reversed it, not the orginal creators. and i also love it. second, garrysmod9reuploads is just a bad arg. gmod vintage movies is.. interesting? i mean it uses SFM which i dont think any other arg has used (execpt the ragdoll ones) third, GmodGuy2006 is unique since the dark figure or whatever is infecting ALL source games instead of just one, which is ALOT more terrifying. Imagine playing a normal round of CS:S and kaboom you see a dark figure from your gmod game. And now since your not a god, you cant physgun it. Just terrifying concept. third and finally, gmodvalvefan2009 is most likely satire.
Credit where it's due, vintage tried to be different stylistically. Granted now those attempts not only interfere with the whole Gmod aesthetic, but also kind of feels like a lot of non-Gmod arg's, but it's something. With that in mind want to know might be interesting, a Badwater/gunslinger style Gmod series which follows the construct shadow creature observing/attempting to interact with the player. Or on the comedic side maybe a one off where the player goes to investigate the dark room only to find a fully furnished kitchen where the shadow creature and its family are enjoying breakfast.
Just started watching the video and it seems like they're all using distorted versions of normal music... Why aren't you noticing this? Edit: Also GMod started back in 2004, not 2006
This is a good video on the subject, but I would highly recommend a few changes going forward: -Make sure your volume is consistent throughout the video. A few times I had to turn my volume up really high just to hear a few of the videos, which resulted in my ears getting blasted the second those videos were over and the commentary began. ): -Keep joke videos out of compilations like this. A few videos from Valvefan were funny, and provides a decent incentive for creators of future arg's to not rely so heavily on the clichés. But otherwise shouldn't have been its own bit for so long as it wasn't trying to be an actual series, but just a long shitpost. -Leave the integrity of videos be! What made other videos on these arg's really pleasant to watch was that there was no tampering with the original video being shown. For myself and many others, this is our first time viewing these video's, so first impressions are very important, not just for a good video, but also so it's easier to understand context and atmosphere. A lot of these arg's rely on sound and music, which albeit too much. Most of the experience is from the "nostalgia" format with old popular songs from the time period or sound effects. I know you don't want to get copyright bombed by youtube, which is super fair. But to offer a solution would be to mute the video sound and let us know it was edited. I think a lot of people watching these types of videos really do not mind a quiet video, as we're more invested on the story. *My first pointer seems seems contradictory to this suggestion but having to adjust the sound output of videos you are showcasing would be much better in the long run and would be making a worthy sacrifice, just make sure to leave a little note that the audio had to be adjusted for a better experience. All in all, a good video! My biggest gripe would be the audio out of all of these and including some of the edits that had the loud static. I will agree with the other comments saying your editing for being a new channel is great, felt like I was watching someone who's already well established. I was shocked to see that your other content was... interesting minecraft videos. As it seems you got the hook of editing these types of videos pretty well. I can see you definitely took some tips and lessons from Stellarr1 and Richter's videos while making this. I look forward to seeing the new direction you're taking your channel as it seems to have boosted its growth quite rapidly. And I hope my little pointers were more helpful than harsh, I tried to explain why I felt that way as best as I could to help you as much as possible. Cheers, and good luck!
36:04 i think its a sound from the game cry of fear where killing a specific ennemy instead of having their body drop on the floor just do this noise before vanishing
You have no clue how fast I searched up Gunslingerpro2009 when I saw his channel come up in this and it said he had 6 videos, right after I watched the GSP2009 ARG video that showed he only had 5 videos.
If you go to 38:50 during the posing tux part and look in the top right you can see a blue chair come by, when the player looks over its replaced with a traffic cone
If I ever made a gmod arg, it take place in th the universe that the whole game is like an experiment and everything is animation in SFM, like camera footage, camera footage, that stuff
Good video man but please consider being a little more quiet, you go from normal speaking and audio level to LOUD YELLING AND METAL MUSIC might be the fact im watching on a phone with no earbuds but still anyway good shit all around
I wish, or at least I haven't heard of, there was an ARG relating to the secret rooms in construct or flatgrass, or even the conspiracy maps or other maps instead of it mostly being dark figures in construct dark room, living ragdolls, etc, the usual...
You should make an edit of this video, where you add in all of the information that people are telling you about in the comments, such as the meaning of "roytheetier" 's name, the morse code actually being the sound that plays when you kill a "stranger" in the hl1 mod Cry of Fear, and the brown figure coming out of the jeep room at 34:36.

21:41 I think it's worth noting that there isn't an invisible wall there. Valve being as large brained as they are just... Didn't add one. They relied solely on the door closing to block the player, but it's relatively easy to jam the door / get propelled through it before it closes.
holy moly, was that gamechap audio in the beginning? at 28 sec? the nostalgia man.
valve fan fuckin big iron-ed a supernatural entity
Me and some other people on gmod have found this save called "My first Memories." I have never made a save called that, and no one else I know of who has found this save on their gmod made it. It's some phenomenon or something
What’s on it?
@@adametz8460 nothing. It's an empty map
some guy said it contained cp
@@Trolaum45 I looked around a couple months ago and couldn't find anything on the map
expressing opinions time (and clearing up some stuff)
first, the reversed music. the creator of the video, IC reversed it, not the orginal creators. and i also love it.
second, garrysmod9reuploads is just a bad arg. gmod vintage movies is.. interesting? i mean it uses SFM which i dont think any other arg has used (execpt the ragdoll ones)
third, GmodGuy2006 is unique since the dark figure or whatever is infecting ALL source games instead of just one, which is ALOT more terrifying. Imagine playing a normal round of CS:S and kaboom you see a dark figure from your gmod game. And now since your not a god, you cant physgun it. Just terrifying concept.
third and finally, gmodvalvefan2009 is most likely satire.
I can hear that IMSCARED ambience from a mile away
Credit where it's due, vintage tried to be different stylistically. Granted now those attempts not only interfere with the whole Gmod aesthetic, but also kind of feels like a lot of non-Gmod arg's, but it's something. With that in mind want to know might be interesting, a Badwater/gunslinger style Gmod series which follows the construct shadow creature observing/attempting to interact with the player. Or on the comedic side maybe a one off where the player goes to investigate the dark room only to find a fully furnished kitchen where the shadow creature and its family are enjoying breakfast.
What’s the background footage? That game mode look fun as heck.
It's NPC Arena 3.5 on the workshop
Just started watching the video and it seems like they're all using distorted versions of normal music... Why aren't you noticing this?
Edit: Also GMod started back in 2004, not 2006
@Retro Oh
why is that noise the first thing I hear when I click on this
that hurt
funny how epicvalvefan literally uses a version of Windows Movie Maker from 2012
This man makes higher quality content than most TH-camrs, yet only has 80 subs.
Enjoyed the video a lot! If I might ask, what map is that on your Gmod footage? Looks fun.
me too bud me too
nice video btw, I'm sure you'll get to a 100k subs in no time if u keep up good work like this
All these gmod args always involves that dark room or a dark figure though one of the channels made some of their videos gave off a vhs horror feel
This is a good video on the subject, but I would highly recommend a few changes going forward:
-Make sure your volume is consistent throughout the video.
A few times I had to turn my volume up really high just to hear a few of the videos, which resulted in my ears getting blasted the second those videos were over and the commentary began. ):
-Keep joke videos out of compilations like this.
The sled video came *after* the GSP2009 ARG video.
Scatman in reverse is surprisingly catchy
correction: G-Mod started as a mod for Half-Life 2 on ModDB in 2004. It got added to Steam in 2006.
this makes me really want to play gmod
also really good video
If you go to 38:50 during the posing tux part and look in the top right you can see a blue chair come by, when the player looks over its replaced with a traffic cone
If I ever made a gmod arg, it take place in th the universe that the whole game is like an experiment and everything is animation in SFM, like camera footage, camera footage, that stuff
What happens when Gmod arg predicts your DEATH
Good video man but please consider being a little more quiet, you go from normal speaking and audio level to LOUD YELLING AND METAL MUSIC
might be the fact im watching on a phone with no earbuds but still
anyway good shit all around
You're pretty underrated you know that?
Proud to be your 169th subscriber, your content is really good, and you're not afraid to criticize the content you're reviewing
I can't tell if the backwards music is the vids or editing to avoid strikes lol
I watched the original vids, he is definitely trying to avoid copyright
I wish, or at least I haven't heard of, there was an ARG relating to the secret rooms in construct or flatgrass, or even the conspiracy maps or other maps instead of it mostly being dark figures in construct dark room, living ragdolls, etc, the usual...
i know the music has to be reversed to avoid copyright but holy crap does it not help any of the video’s atmosphere but i enjoyed it!
underrated youtuber i swear
Bro how do you have only 39 subs!?This video is very good and your editing is good. You just got a new sub.
One thing about that Anti-Zombie Base video, the player strangley looks into the intel room very weirdly. Possibly heard something from there?
Boulevard of broken dreams backwards is the most CURSED thing I have heard.
same thing with Numb by Linkin park.
1:29:50 He may have thought Gman was alive, trying to check to see if he survived, and when he noticed that Gman wasn't, he stopped recording.
The music in bald guys adventures is the old roblox music.
Back then, he was called monk and not father grigori.
These ARGs don’t ALL have to be from Gmod9, just have a newer Gmod or do what GunslingerPro2009 does.
Jesus christ man can you cool it with the earrape? The volume control can only do so much when its 12 am and everyone else is asleep
Damn your Gmod demon is Gamechap from classic minecraft series Gamechap and Bertie? Mine is just diablo
14:27 That's literally based on that one meme, just with the sped up credits cut out
I think i remember that train horror map. I think i still have it installed on my gmod.
For the hl2 title with the date and time numbering shows it is raw footage, GMod's exe is hl2.exe so any raw footage would fall into that title.
Finally Someone Finally Explain Vintage gmod movie
