Depends solely on the cat but more is better. My younger cat likes a thin layer and won't do any business if it's deep, my older cat prefers to be able to swim in it💀
My guess is it works better on small litter boxes. Also the clumps in this video must have dried for a few days in order to get it to clean up so nice. This is not the typical litter box in my opinion.

Unless you’re strong enough to pick up and pour a completely full litter box every time you need to scoop it, this will murder your back. Also, it makes hella dust fly up
@@__Diavolo__ are you kidding. A properly filled, properly sized litter box weighs a minimum of 30lbs. Completely emptying it out once a month is doable, but every single day? That would absolutely destroy most people’s backs. I used sifting litter boxes for years and it is rough. Also, the dust is not an insignificant issue.
@@__Diavolo__ I said “at least.” I was talking about the average litter box. My personal litter boxes weigh between 40 and 50 lbs. And again, the dust is significant. People aren’t going to lug at least 30 lbs all the way outside every single day, so they’ll do it where the litter boxes are in their home. Inhaling that dust is incredibly unhealthy and it will contaminate everything in the surrounding area with particles of cat waste.
@@ShuhPond nah I agree on the dust, I just personally haven't had any issues lifting and sifting it twice a day in terms of the weight of the box. I'm not even a strong dude either lol
Is it just my cat or .. she taught herself to use the newspaper as toilet😂 now we just need to put a fresh page of newspaper in the tray. Much better than sand or litter, doesnt smell that much and easy to throw out.
@@rumjhumgupta7137 since the poop is on the newspaper I'd just roll it up with other newspaper so I don't touch it, and just slide them into a wastebin, then throw the waste outside in some open area
oh no 😟 they are actually new litter ! I clean them out daily to get rid of the soaked litter. It looks full because I use a third of the bag at a time ( so that it's not too heavy for me to lift ). I should have add more context to the vid ! Now I understand all the comments !
@jennyjones4875 if there is a heavy ammonia smell when you bend down, that no amount of box refresher will mask then you know. If the urine smell doesnt go away after you scoop, its too old. The best bet is to remove urine clumps ASAP. If not, the pee will leach into the dry litter and turn it all into mud. Then the box is ruined, and you have to start all over. My partner and I take care of about 20-25 rescues at any given time. We each have designated litter boxes that we are responsible for. My litter always lasts me waaaaay longer than his. Main reason is because he is not a prompt scooper, and he over fills the box to compensate. No matter how many times I explain, tell, and show him "the right way" to do it, he doest. He thinks when I tell him he is doing certain cat care tasks wrong, that it's a my way vs. his way type of thing. I'm like no, it's not. There is a right way, and bunch of wrong ways, I'm not just being bossy. So I end up having to do his boxes too. We even have boxes that come with 3 pre attached sifter that you just lift out. He doesn't use the sifters bc the way he does his boxes, using the sifter makes it take longer...yeah, cuz he is doing it wrong. His sifters get caked in litter mud, because he procrastinates too long.
Best thing to do is just clean the litter box every morning. Litter lasts longer if you clean it every day. That’s why I am thinking of getting a litter robot.
It's the same concept as those self cleaning litter box , except you do it manually, once per day. It sieves off the soiled litter clumps and lowers the "cat litter" smell in the house.

What will happen if u smell it?? Like is it bad or what ?
@@Dexiee3_3yeah cats urine contains ammonia it's a harmful gas if breathed and can cause respiratory problems
Just a little tip! Um cats need about 3 inches of litter thats not enough litter for the cat to be comfortable in the litter box 😅
Thank you .
That’s what I was thinking
My cat can do in a handful too

Good so that way it also gets fresh litter
Yea, if you shake too much the cat litter lumps break up and end up in the litter box increasing its smell.
….i just use the scooper that comes with it…
But this is more better because it gets the clumps out that you could have missed!
That is so sufficient, I couldn't even come up with that!
Yeah we need less chemicals in ur food bud

Is the sifter wire material? I love this idea. Subscribed. Thank you.
Yes, it’s wire mesh :) Thanks so much 💕
Do you scoop, sieve, or just throw the litter out after it's full ?
Scoop! I recommend, you can leave it for 2 days and on the second clean it!
@@Maninder_gill20200that is the recommendation date but it best if you can do it every 30 minutes to avoid build up odor
