- Iqrar ul Hassan is a well-known anchor person of Pakistan. He is known by his sting operations, sometimes he has had bad incidents due to these sting operations. A few days ago, while conducting a program about an inspector of IB, a Pakistani intelligence agency, an unfortunate incident happened to him. Hats off to Team of Sar-e-Aam. Pakistani public has already shown how much they respect the team. Trying to end corruption is not the responsibility of Sar-e-Aam Team alone but it is everybody's responsibility.
If people want to end their suffering and do not want their children to suffer then they need to put effort to end corruption. Every Pakistani should join hands with Sar-e-Aam team to end corruption quickly by doing whatever they can. People should not think that others can stop taking/ giving bribe while they can continue to secretly take / give bribe and no one will know. Somehow others do find out.
Every Pakistani has suffered many times because of corruption. If people will not stop then they will continue to suffer but their children also will suffer. In fact their children will more because corruption and crime gets worse with time.
Corruption is increasing with greed over generations. About 50 years ago there were fewer people who would be corrupt. At least previously corrupt people could not proudly show off and say they have 'extra' earnings. Previously, majority of the population would be ashamed and refuse to associate with corrupt people. Today, people boast about taking bribe and others are proud to have 'resourceful' and "powerful" friends.
If not the whole dept but at least the local senior officer of IB were also involved in the whole racket of bribery and Torture of Sar-e-Aam Team. IB officer Kashif who demanding/ taking bribe was not alone. He had they backing of his senior officer Shah. Corrupt people never operate alone because they are cowards. So, to do any bad stuff they have to join hands with other corrupt and weak people. That is why it is usually difficult to end corruption because all the weak people cover up each others' secrets and crimes. Everyone knows weaknesses and secrets the other gang member. So, no one breaks the ranks unless they get a bigger prize or suffer more with what their colleague will do to them because their conscious is dead.
Ending corruption will take time because it is present at every level in the society. Corruption is increasing with greed over generations. Greed and corruption is not just in Pakistan but globally. Individuals and countries behave like pharaohs and exploit at every level.
Everybody who has suffered can stop corruption by not looking down on and disrespecting those who have less than them and also by starting to desire a little less for themselves than before. Wanting more starts corruption. End corruption by living simpler lives than before.
Parents should not use the excuse that they are helpless and only take / give bribe to provide for their children's needs to be corrupt. Parents need to remember if they do not do anything to end corruption then by giving more to their children today they are actually leaving a world a much worse place to live for their children. By taking or giving bribe parents may temporarily full fill their children"s needs and wishes. By taking/ giving bribe parents are not helping but only increasing their children's suffering. Later, children will alone when parents will not be alive to guide and support their children.
Parents need to treat their children equally and practice fairness. Desire to chase material wealth is because of insecurities developed during childhood because of parents, grand-parents and relatives prefering one child over others. Parents should not favour boys over girls, academically smart over simple & kind-hearted, fair skinned over dark skinned, broad-built over frail bodied, healthy over disabled, good-looking over ordinary looking, high earners over low earners, rich over poor. Parents preferring one or some children over others makes them insecure. Children can even develop mental illness. Later, children spend rest of their lives trying to earn parents' attention and love which they did not get earlier. The insecurity gets a hold over their personality. They continue to try to get it from friends, teachers, employers and all other people as well. As adults continue by competing to achieve power and material wealth through any means rather than seek spiritual wealth to please their Creator through sawaab / good-will of fellow humans. As adults these insecure and mentally ill people keep on hoarding more. Then, no amount of power or material wealth will be enough for them. Ordinary people who demand favours and take bribe are earlier versions of hoarders like Zardari, Nawaz Shairf, Shahbaz Sharif etc. Members of Zardari and Sharif families were once ordinary people like they rest of us.
Corruption can end quickly if only everybody stops competing to have more material wealth than others, start appreciating what they already have start respecting those who have less than them. People need to realize no body can have everything. There will always be something that they cannot have. There will always be something which is beyond their capacity because they do not have enough connections or wealth to use to bribe with. So, why not try to be satisfied with what they can have through honest efforts and hard work without going down on a slippery slope.
