Fullbringer Arc was instantly one of my favorite arcs in Bleach. I love the trope of protagonists being helpless and without powers, but try to change and help/protect others, kind of like Subaru in Re:Zero. I am not saying Ichigo is similar or the same as Subaru btw, but I feel the emotions and way Ichigo acts and falls almost into despair when Ginjo is revealed to be the villain feels so human to me, the same way Subaru goes crazy when thrown into the unfairness of the world while feeling helpless and alone.
Although I ended up only liking the first arc of bleach, it definitely had a huge influence on shounen taking a more dark turn later in the years. I feel like we wouldn’t have gotten stuff like JJK if bleach was never made.
Loved this! I disagree on some points (Fullbring and TYBW will always frustrate me, haha), but I enjoyed your take on the series. The four Femritters were some of the best Quincies IMO. But I get why you wouldnt like Giselle since you've never liked zombies and she's the cause behind the zombie march. The Femritters are very different from most girl groups Kubo writes. They're a bunch of nasty bitches who are forced to become friends due to severe betrayal and trauma. Jugram even insisted on making sure the Femritters survive and live in peace with both the Soul Society and Hueco Mundo, which they actually do.... in the goddamn light novels because Kubo was too sick to put everything he wanted or planned in the manga. The anime's third and fourth seasons will have so much anime original material because Kubo is implementing his old ideas, redoing the execution to what was in the manga, and there are so many hints that material from the light novels will be added too. Gimme gimme gimme
The anime is actually very good, the filler makes sense because of how fast the anime caught up and is honestly not even that much, especially in comparison to something like one piece. Also Toshiro is a better character than mayuri.
These days, yeah, probably. But during the 2010s definitely not, Bleach was the punching bag, ngl, i was also in that boat. But honestly, after rereading the manga recently and watching the TYBW arc anime, i developed a newfound appreciation for Bleach. I honestly don't even remember why i disliked it around the early 2010s. If i had to rate the big 3, i'd say: One Piece 10/10 Bleach 9/10 Naruto 7/10
It felt like this was made by an emotionally mature person who retained his young boy's heart. You saw the best of what Bleach had to offer and either didn't see or brushed over its worse parts because those flaws were overshadowed by its better aspects. I envy you for that. If I'm going to watch a video essay, I'd rather have it told by someone who saw the series at its best to highlight the enjoyment so the audience can love and appreciate it more rather than someone who keeps beating it down with its flaws but of course, having the balanced look is always the best.
