  • Let's dive further into Advanced Colour Theory and how you can use it to compose and photograph food. We will look at:
    1️⃣ Split Complementary
    2️⃣ Diad
    3️⃣ Triadic
    Um…those sound like some serious words don’t they? But they are actually way easier than you think (and fun too!) and I'll be sharing lots of photographic examples of how I use these in my work.

      Absolutely! It is an easy element to overlook as we do often focus so much on the colours in the images.

    I for sure will like to try out Diad color theory. This has stuck to my head dear Rachel. But I still need to figure out what dish and how to bring it all together. It's a treat to watch your photos dear Rachel. Thank you is a very small word for that.

      I love Diad colour theory as well. Sometimes it can be a challenge to think about what food to shoot, but hopefully some time on Pinterest or Instagram (or even in nature) can spark some creativity.

    The Diad for sure but also Triadic I am going to try this on my next photo. But I will tell you I have taken-color theory at the college and the way you have explained these two videos. Is so much easier to understand.

      I am so touched by that comment, Nora. Thanks for the feedback. We had a lot of fun putting these together. I can't wait to see how you will use those two theories.

    as well. So inspiring! Excited to incorporate these theories into my work.

    Diad, not sure if I ever put any attention to it! When you said Orange and Purple, I was like OMG 💥. Jumped into my photo gallery and sure enough found three sets of different images with exactly that combo. I know I was not too intentional with those choices, but styling with Fall in mind those colors just came up very easy and yeah they sure work beautifully together. Thank you for the lesson!

      That is SO cool! I love it when that happens. When we look up the colour wheel and think, that's why it works. Excited to see how you'll use Diad colours in the future.

    Fabulous as always! I was really keen to try Monochromatic but after watching this split complementary and diad are also appealing. I might just have to try them all! Thanks so much Rachel!

      I love your enthusiasm! There is just so much to explore. If you have a subject in mind you might want to photograph, maybe one of these theories will be more complementary than the others? Excited to see what you'll create.

    Thanks for video! I want to know more about WHITE, GREY and BLACK with other color!

    • @Twolovesstudio
      @Twolovesstudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for watching! On a technical level, white, grey and black are shades rather than colours so you could think of them as bonuses that will work with a lot of other theories. Does that help?

    • @Twolovesstudio
      @Twolovesstudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great choices! Hopefully those examples can give you a sense of what you might shoot. If in doubt, sometimes less colours is easier to deal with and Diad can work wonders.

    I do like the Diad color theory which is not an easy one if you have more than one subject to shoot! I am also curious to know what percentage of each color to use. In other words, how do you decide which of the two colors is the dominant one!

    • @Twolovesstudio
      @Twolovesstudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For sure Sossie! It is easier if you have one recipe for example, than multiple different food subjects or products. There is the old 'interior design colour rule', of 60, 30, 10. So if you were to pick three colours for example, you could break each colour up into these percentages. Might be something to give a try!

    So you just use 1 light in all your food photography

    • @Twolovesstudio
      @Twolovesstudio  18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey friend, it really depends on the concept and the food. Most of the time I do use just one light (when photographing with artificial light), but I have a couple of lights that I do set up lighting with multiple lights. Hope that helps!
