Ren's strap was broken and he had it looped over the arm of the bass. Gorran, being the prepared one in the group, had a spare strap so switched it out for Ren while he was playing. Gorran just told this story in a live stream recently. This is one of the most amazing performances. Really enjoyed this one. 💜💜

The Big Push started out in spring 2017 with flatmates Ren Gill (born and raised in Wales; playing bass guitar here) and Romain Axisa (born and raised in France; playing electric guitar here) busking together around Brighton, England. That summer they were joined by Romain's friend Gorran Kendall (born and raised in England; playing acoustic guitar here). By late fall 2017 they were performing as The Big Push. Ren was their drummer at gigs, but he wasn't skilled on drums back then. They released their first original song in spring 2018, "It's Alright", performed at GAK and joined by a couple session musicians. In late fall 2018, Glenn Chambers (born and raised in Northern Ireland) joined as their full-time drummer. Each of them is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. Ren, Romain, and Gorran each has a solo career as a songwriter and performer. Ren and Romain are also skilled music producers.
The Big Push performed 17 original songs and numerous covers and mashups. 13 of their originals were produced and released, either as singles or on their 2021 EP "Can Do Will Do". They also released a "Busking Sessions" live album in 2023. They produced several more originals that haven't been released yet, including some that they never performed in public. Those will probably be released eventually, if not soon.
The band split up on good terms back in September 2022. Gorran and Glenn did a lot of traveling after the split. This year Gorran has started releasing new music again. Ren focused on medical treatments in Canada for his autoimmune illness and on finishing his album "Sick Boi", released in October 2023. Romain focused on finishing his album "A Wonderful Thrill", released in November 2023. They're all still friends. The band might get back together, at least for a reunion show.

This is my favorite busking video. Ren gets into a flow state, his goal is to be free of thought and it shows. Yet he's aware enough to direct the band produce on the spot, etc. He never sings or plays a song the same way twice. Even in his recorded tracks based on rehearsals he's shown. In an interview with Chris Liepe a vocal coach, in a discussion over how he sings during his live performances, the vocal technicalities are not a focus for him. These imperfections is why we as his audience connect with him allowing us feel his rawness and his true emotions. That's one of the differences between Ren and most other musicians. The technicalities are there because of his hard work over the years, always striving to step up his skills in his craft.

Best art advice I ever received was "When you can't get it "perfect" lean into the imperfection and that's how you discover your unique style".

One of my favourites, I love how Ren gets in his flow state when playing, Romain does too, it’s such a beautiful sight. 🖤
    THE BIG PUSH!
    🥁🎸🎤🎵
REN (Welsh) - vocals, acoustic, electric, bass mostly
Romain Axisa (French) - vocals, acoustic, electric, bass mostly
Gorran Kendall (English) - vocals, acoustic, electtic, bass mostly
Glenn Chambers (Irish) - drums mostly
The Big Push formed in 2017. Initially being Ren, Romain and Gorran with Glenn joining later to play drums.
Gorran and Romain met busking, Romain and Ren then met through Facebook while Ren was trying to find a flat mate. They would all busk together and Glenn would sit in as drummer while also playing bass with another friend Rafa. They then decided to become a band and would take to the streets of Brighton and also created masterpieces of their own.
They played numerous gigs including a sold out tour of the U.K. and also released a 6 track EP called “Can Do Will Do”.
They busked together for the last time on 14th December 2022 and played their final gig at the Brighton Dome a short while later. Having to go on hiatus due in part to Ren moving to Canada for medical treatment and their lives going in different directions. Although they remain good friends and Ren and Romain have mentioned wanting to play together again.

Goren was probably playing bass before this and when Ren took the base it still had Goren's strap. If you look at where Goren holds the guitar it's much higher than Ren does so the strap was shorter. If you look the bass is hanging lower after the strap change.

Love this session. Gorran (strap man) is now busking in Spain and France and putting out his own folk rock kind of stuff. He is a real free Spirit. Romain with the cap and Ren were rommates for 6 years and all 3 were together during the pandemic. I love their take on What Kind of Woman is This! All 3 will sing.

Believe me, no Doctor has ever said that, I think Romain has got a secret one that he only shows to certain people; to be honest it's not even worth seeing, peace and love Helen@@helenjarvis7755
