Whaaat, the tofu. OMG. I've been living next to the Markhal for 2 years and always complained about the tofu options and supermarkets and never thought to go to Wah Nam Hong. Thanks for the tip!

Lidl is better in France than in Rotterdam, because fruits and vegetables have a higher quality, however, we don't have the Blaak Markt in France. I was astonished by the low prices at Blaak when I discovered it

vouching for your tips!! will not lie I am always shopping at AH but will definitely try more lidl and aldi. Alsooo wah nam hong has really great tofu options, like silken tofu for soup vs tofu that you want to use for stir fry

Prawn chips ("kroepoek") are very popular in the Netherlands, you can get them in any supermarket.

If you have a blender you could try to make your own plant based milk. I make my own oat milk. You can decide thickness, sweetness and the like. It's really simple. Just keep in mind that you have to use it within a few days, so don't make too much at once.

Can you deep freeze tofu? I mean if you buy a kilo, you slice it in two. One in the refrigerator for ready use. And slice one half into one meal portions, in plastic bags and put it in the freezer. If you need it, you get one portion out of the freezer the evening before and put it in the refrigerator. It is thawed by the time you want to prepare your evening meal. You first finish the fresh slice of course. I’m curious because I do eat tofu, but only once a week, so I only buy one meal portions. Which is more expensive, it costs almost as much as you pay for a kilo.

Omw i'm so glad you shared Wah Nam Hong Supermarkt. I was wondering where I would be able to find the Lee Kum Kee Hoisin Sauce and Chilli paste, now I don't have to make my own!. I don't see the Koon Chun Hoisin though.

How much would it cost (approximately) to buy groceries for two people at lidl.
I did also hear some rumors about the taxes being 40%.

Hey, just a small tip, if u find the Lidl rice too dry, u can go for the risotto rice in Albert Heijn. I don’t really remember the price but much better than normal rice and the price is much cheaper than the rice in Amazing Oriental. Also, the frozen baopao in Lidl is super delicious and quite cheap too (1.3€ for 2 I guess), you can find them in Spar too, super cheap but really convenient when having to stay for long at the uni.
