I remember falling in love with the 308 myself watching Magnum PI back in the 80’s but I also could not help but notice that they never put the top on and that Tom Selleck’s head stuck up several inches above the roof line. This is one of my favorite Ferrari models! This car is the main reason I watched Magnum P.I. as a child. Speaking of which, it's still mind boggling that Tom Selleck being 6'4" managed to pretzel himself into these things.
Interesting side note: The producers initially went to Porsche, and asked them to use the 928 as the star car for Magnum P.I. But they needed it to be a convertible or at least a targa because Hawaii. Porsche rejected this opportunity, and thus fame for the 328, failure for the 'other' -28.
They had to take the seat mounts off of the seat and mount the seat directly to the floor for him. That's how they created the extra space for him. Of course he never had the top on, so that helped too.
I think Magnum PI used the older Ferrari 308, not a 328. I do remember that he had to have the targa model with the roof always off because he was too tall to fit inside the coupes. Either way, if I lived in Hawai'i, I'd want a convertible too.

The 328 is commonly called the “Toyota” because it’s so reliable and well made, compared to other Ferrari’s it’s an easy car to own. My father had 1979 308 gtb that was incredible to drive, but had a lot of problems even with expert care. He then had a 1987 328 gtb (which got stolen) and then a 1989 328gtb which was an amazing car, and so reliable he drove it daily for 15 years (he lives in Arizona so it’s not like he had to store it for the winter). Very cool car and it was fun to see Doug do a team-up with this review but I am still anxiously waiting for him to someday review the 288 GTO. I know they are extremely rare and worth millions but I feel like he'll have the opportunity one day. Next to the 355, I think the 288 GTO is the most beautiful of all Ferraris.
@@MultiWalrus1 I purchased a UK car magazine on the 288 GTO in very late 1984 when it had just been released ! That magazine is now a collector's item and sells for $ US200. My mom accidentally threw it out . . . Nooo! It gets even more weird. Initialook I got called a liar at school as nobody believed Ferrari would make a turbo road car, yet alone a twin turbo V8. In Australia our school holidays are from mid-December to often tge first few days of February due to it being summer. One honest guy, when school returned came up apologised and showed me pictures of him in a 288 GTO. He want to Italy in December '84 and obviously came back by February 1985. His uncle had purchased a 288 GTO ! ! ! NO one could believe it. He told us that it was the best experience in his life especially when his uncle let him drive it. Unfortunately, Australian road rules prohibited Left Hand Drive ( Lhd) cars and the luxury car taxes were brutal. E,g. the Testarossa & Countach cost $AU500K OR $US380,000 by 1985. Australian luxury car tax was 70 % of the sales price on a luxury car. This guy was devastated as his dad wanted to import a Ferrari 288 GTO. They were comfortably middle class but not outright wealthy. They purchased a Ferrari 328 GTS as it was near impossible to obtain a 328 GTB in Oz. NOTE - To date there are only about 5 or less Ferrari 328 GTB's that are RHD and they sell $US150,000 over a GTS model. I know as a close friend of mine tied to purchase one 9 years ago and the owner wouldn't budge on his $AU500k asking price. It was also a very rare blue with white interior model. Dohhhh . .. again.
Well there it is Doug’s got his ambitions set high. The Doug Demuro car review universe. I have a feeling we will start seeing new presenters as Doug transitions to just doing the cars he wants. Looking forward to the new talent.
Such a cool car! The plastic flap under the fuel cap is mainly there so the handle of the fuel pump doesn't scratch the paint. I have one on my Porsche 944 as well for the same purpose. It doesn't work that well and so I have a load of scratches on the body panel underneath the fuel cap, but its better than nothing.
The Red 328 GTS was in the Eddie Murphy movie “Beverly Hills Cop 2” from 1987. The 308 GTS on the other hand sounded a bit better and was on Magnum P.I and it’s like driving a Go-Cart faster Miata with a V8. It handles like it’s on rails. Much better looking obviously:) 🇮🇹
@Kathi Jordan you know there are three places on Oahu that rent Ferraris and not one of them has a 308?? Talk about a missed opportunity. Especially considering how much cheaper they are than modern ones. One lady said I was about the tenth person to ask for one and said she was going to look into getting one. One of them didn’t even know why I’d ask for that specific car! I couldn’t believe that. How do you live on Oahu and deal in Ferraris and not even know what Magnum drove?
The Great Value version of Doug Demuro did a really great job! Once he gets comfortable in front of the camera he could be the next face of Motor Week. 😊
Growing up my dentist had one of these. Beautiful car and you’d occasionally see it parked outside his office on Saturdays when he was there catching up on his records. And his staff were always resentful of it because he’d skimp on their salaries to buy exotics.
@@bikes7777 cmon guys be understandable, Doug probably said to him he will kill his entire family and lineage if he doesn't imitate him as good as he could
Doug, this is a cool review to finally see! My uncle had one in this exact spec from brand new up here in Toronto. He used this, and his '87 Grand National to tour and win audio competitions all over the place, and they became famous cars in the car audio industry back when it was still a thing. It's definitely a car I'd love to get my hands on one day for the nostalgia. Great video as always!
It's no big deal man, I think he's just making a video with his friend to change things up a bit. I'd be doing the same thing if I were him. It can be fun to work with your friends and Doug is clearly trying to enjoy things a bit now.
you're one of the very few youtubers i love to see and would enjoy watching anytime because watching you talk about cars feels very genuine and personal. Please dont have someone else do that... I love the way you present and talk about all the small details about cars. Watching someone else trying to be like you is just weird and just not enjoyable. No offense to the guy in the video. He's doing a great job at presenting but he is no doug though.
The flap around the gas cap is there to prevent scratching the paint with the gas nozzle when adding fuel. The gas cap in this car set into some of the bodywork making it easy to scratch the paint with the gas nozzle.
I have an '85 308 and I love it. It's one of, if not my favorite. It's so much fun to drive and experience. It's beautiful. It's easy to maintain. People love seeing it. Now I want to go drive it...
My dad had this car (the coupe) back in 87, I was 10. I remember going to an empty parking lot with a dusting of snow on the ground and doing donuts. So much fun!
15:40 talking about size, I have a 1983 308 and had a 1991 Toyota MR2. Parked in the garage side by side, the MR2 was 12" longer than the 308 and the roof of the 308 was as high as the side mirror of the MR2. The 308 weighs 120lbs more than the MR2, but has 100 more hp. These are TINY cars and quick. The driving experience, the sounds, the handling, it's all part of a package that makes these such wonderful cars to drive.
I have this exact year and color combo 328 and think you guys did a great job reviewing it and conveying how special and fun it is to drive. What starts out a bit awkward and clunky at low speed becomes a spirited driving experience once the car gets into a stride. At higher speeds on country roads, it really is a grand tourer like the "GTS" in the model name suggests. On a sunny day at 60-70mph, it's just amazing, and it really doesn't get much better than this. I think the 328 hit a narrow late-80s window where some cars were still very very analog (not for long). The reliability aspect makes the 328 a great entry level collector car for aspiring Ferrari enthusiasts. I put about 1000 miles a year on mine and it's never given me a lick of trouble. It's also very easy to work on and maintain. Values are still just barely affordable for normal folks, but are on the rise, so it's a decent investment if you need another reason to consider one. Here's a tidbit about size -- the 328 has about the same wheelbase and width as a ND Miata, but is lower. It's longer at the nose by about a foot, but overall this car is smaller than a Miata! The thing is, in person, the striking looks give it far more presence and it seems bigger. It's not until you compare dimensions, get inside, and drive the 328 that it becomes apparent it's a really small car.
I think it is fitting, i don't like its appearence as much as other Ferraris and it is also fairly normal in comparison. Price and make aren't the only things that make a car cool.
@@Lukas-eh4cf Sure, the 328 isn't among the top 10 nicest Ferraris, but the 944 is just, well, plain as fuck IMO! I'm not necessarily saying the Ferrari should have been rated higher, but maybe the Porsche should've been rated lower.
Holy hell the volume is all over the place. Edit: this video is not up to Doug's normal standard. Volume issues, poping audio and no link to "this" car on cars and bids even after 2 hours.
5:39 As much as I love the 80s, I have to say that the 70s-style toggle switches with their satisfying snap up and down beat those 80s style dull plastic switches hands down. Ferrari should have kept the 308 style switches!
The keyed window louver on the right side is perhaps not only there for symmetry, but is it possible the fuel nozzle is on the right side in the foreign/European models? Just a thought.
In France, (and possibly other parts of Europe), it was a legal requirement to carry spare bulbs. If you got pulled over for having a failed lamp, and could change it there and then, you didn't get fined. Nowadays, this is difficult as most lamp replacements involve a visit to a garage.

Disagree. It was weak and mumbled, with Doug cutting in on him talking about his 355 all the time. If I'd heard something actually interesting from him about the 3X8 lineage, I'd agree with you - Ferrari expert - really?
Magnum, P.I. sold this car...fun fact, in the original scripts for the show, Tom Selleck was supposed to tool around in a Porsche 911 Targa. However, Porsche was unwilling to provide a few cars for filming, so the producers approached Ferrari, who, surprisingly, obliged...

Dohhhh . .. again.
My dad had one of these when I was a kid. Watched this video with a smile on my face the whole time.
As comforting as the original format is, i absolutely dig when Doug lets his hair down and has a bit of fun with a vid
Well there it is Doug’s got his ambitions set high. The Doug Demuro car review universe. I have a feeling we will start seeing new presenters as Doug transitions to just doing the cars he wants. Looking forward to the new talent.
He has said that he wishes he had a co host to riff off of.
I don't! Never change a running system!
Yeah this is a mistake!
Drug de Muro
No ... there not the same energy doug is way more fun to listen to ... sorry other guy
Doug is the type of guy to go on a ride with Thomas Magnum in the Ferrari 328.
And point out all the quirks and features of his Hawaiian shirts
Nah. Doug probably knows Magnum drove a 308. The car before this. :)
Now that Kennan can say he's guest hosted, we really don't need that to happen again.
I don’t mind Kennan for the discussion videos but I prefer the reviews to be only Doug.
I watch only for Doug. I like the way he reviews cars. I didn't subscribe to see someone else review them
The Great Value version of Doug Demuro did a really great job! Once he gets comfortable in front of the camera he could be the next face of Motor Week. 😊
That’s almost sacrilege.
"The great value version'"..... LOL 😊
It was a pleasure meeting your friend. Clearly, he is passionate about the automotive industry. Thanks for the video.
No mention of Magnum P.I. ?!?
Growing up my dentist had one of these. Beautiful car and you’d occasionally see it parked outside his office on Saturdays when he was there catching up on his records.
And his staff were always resentful of it because he’d skimp on their salaries to buy exotics.
Kennan has the linguistics, cadence, and hand gestures of Doug down pat. Looking forward to Kennan getting his own channel called “Ferraris and Facts”
Good job Kennan, it’s not as easy to talk into the camera as people think but you did it flawlessly
He was as stiff as a hard shell taco
@@bikes7777 cmon guys be understandable, Doug probably said to him he will kill his entire family and lineage if he doesn't imitate him as good as he could
lol you don’t actually believe that do you?
Doug, this is a cool review to finally see! My uncle had one in this exact spec from brand new up here in Toronto. He used this, and his '87 Grand National to tour and win audio competitions all over the place, and they became famous cars in the car audio industry back when it was still a thing. It's definitely a car I'd love to get my hands on one day for the nostalgia. Great video as always!
I really hope you dont let someone else do your videos in the future, its not going to work, people are here for you Doug.
YOU ARE 100% CORRECT. This is why we enjoyed Doug’s review, because of him & only HIM!!!
The power Ferrari was making with these small naturally aspirated engines in the smogged down eighties is incredible
I was just saying 270hp is not little for 3,2 Liters. BMW did 286 in the 90s out of 4 Liters and that was considered high.
Lucky you. Take good care of it.
@robertbcope How long u owned it?
I had a chance to buy a 83’GTsi in 2011 for $24,000 and didn’t ,
been regretting that decision 😢
@@curtm6867 It'll be three years in July that I've owned it. So far, it's been great, I still love getting it in and driving!
So is Doug's brother doing the parody here, or does it turn out that unbeknownst to us Doug's been doing the parody all along??? 🤣
2 friends enjoying an old Ferrari!! What a wonderful life!! 💯😊
Thanks Doug. Thanks for always staying consistent, honest, genuine, hard working, exciting, and real with all of your reviews!
My dad had this car (the coupe) back in 87, I was 10. I remember going to an empty parking lot with a dusting of snow on the ground and doing donuts. So much fun!
Lucky 😫
15:40 talking about size, I have a 1983 308 and had a 1991 Toyota MR2. Parked in the garage side by side, the MR2 was 12" longer than the 308 and the roof of the 308 was as high as the side mirror of the MR2. The 308 weighs 120lbs more than the MR2, but has 100 more hp. These are TINY cars and quick. The driving experience, the sounds, the handling, it's all part of a package that makes these such wonderful cars to drive.
My 85 Honda Prelude was about 600 lb lighter!
You FINALLY reviewed the most beautiful car(s) body styling there ever was!! Short of the 288 GTO, which is truly the #1.
Great car. I have driven this actual one and it is pristine. Super fun to drive!
Ope is Doug diving into delegation of his reviews? This man's a business man forsure.
Congrats! I wish you two the very best of luck together!
That’s the most times I’ve ever heard the word “analog” within a 20 minute span in my life.
This is one beautiful car. Still looks modern. Love it!
Looks like the 80s what you talking about.
Doug the type of guy who brings in backup when reviewing a Ferrari.
That 348 with 360 wheels is looking fresh
This Ferrari 328 looked incredible! Kinda reminded me to Ferrari Testarossa for some reason.
We need more of this guy, he’s great, a natural👍🏻
Doug’s testing out Throttle House type interplay banter to spice things up a bit…
What a true friend Doeg is to share his influencer wealth. Keep up the great work.
Shoutout to that fuel spillage flap in the gas cap...should be in every single vehicle...mind blown lol so simple yet makes sense
Happy that the horn test is back! 😊
BTW I can't believe the 328 only got one more point in styling and cool factor than the Porsche 944 😅
@@SvenElven 944 is one of the coolest and most mimicked designs ever. get off your high prancing horse 😜
Ken. The brother Doug never knew he had or needed
Holy hell the volume is all over the place.
Edit: this video is not up to Doug's normal standard. Volume issues, poping audio and no link to "this" car on cars and bids even after 2 hours.
Hard to replace a really good and unique voice. Doug's voice is calming in some weird way...
Ok if we're doing this with 2 people now, can we FINALLY get some exterior shots of the cars in motion?
5:39 As much as I love the 80s, I have to say that the 70s-style toggle switches with their satisfying snap up and down beat those 80s style dull plastic switches hands down. Ferrari should have kept the 308 style switches!
The keyed window louver on the right side is perhaps not only there for symmetry, but is it possible the fuel nozzle is on the right side in the foreign/European models? Just a thought.
I like Ken! I agree that I would prefer Doug but I do understand where Doug is coming from wanting to transition some of the channel over
SADLY, I feel like this is a test video where Doug is trying to phase in somebody else to do reviews for cars being sold on the site....
Imagine driving around in the 1980s with this car blasting some new wave goodness 😮💨😮💨😮💨🙃
I want Doug to have a cohost he can riff off of. It works wonders when he has Hoovie on.
wasn't expecting that THHHISSSSS
I totally liked and enjoyed the video but I swear, Kernan's voice can put a person to sleep😅😅
Is this guy reading Doug's script? The words are so Doug's I can't believe he wrote his own lines.
I haven't watched in a month, who's this guy?😅
In France, (and possibly other parts of Europe), it was a legal requirement to carry spare bulbs. If you got pulled over for having a failed lamp, and could change it there and then, you didn't get fined.
Nowadays, this is difficult as most lamp replacements involve a visit to a garage.
Doug, I like how your brand is developing with C&B...but your channel name is "Doug Demuro". Never forget, it is you who viewers look for. Demands on your time change--but phasing out your presence on car reviews will be detrimental to the channel. We can watch car reviews anywhere on TH-cam but we come here, largely for you! Take this comment how you wish...
Doug is introducing a new character to take over
Can you go back to saying individual doug score catagories please?
I feel like Hawaiian shirts would have been a no brainer in this episode.
Great job, Kennan. Your delivery was 100% on point.
Doug and Kennan are the best duo since a Ferrari 308 and a chevron mustache
Saw the signs when they were driving and I live not too far from there. I hope I see Doug somewhere so I can say "hail to the king". : ) GREAT REVIEW like always!
Ferrari as a brand is very underrated as it is! Despite being a great car to drive, they are very rare to see on the roads😉
Depends on where you are. If you go to Monaco or Switzerland then you'll see more Ferraris than any other car. And besides, Ferraris are supposed to be rare and exclusive.
@@horsepower523 do you understand the meaning of the word sarcasm? Have you lost all of your humour? And besides, its less rare to see ferraris in Switzerland, its still not like what you make them sound! They don't sell like Camry or Accord in the States! They are still quite rare even there! You will find more exotic cars in New York (the population is high and the per capita income of NY is higher than Switzerland and Monaco!)
@@Variable_Degree_Series No I did not know you were being sarcastic tbh, not until you edited your comment and added that winking emoji. Clever move.
@@horsepower523 the wink was there from the beginning, I committed a spelling error which I later edited, and even without the wink, if you can't get that, then just get some social life bro..
@@Variable_Degree_Series I was being sarcastic too in my previous comment. Didn't you get it?! I'm really surprised that a person who's as smug and full of himself as you are couldn't detect my OBVIOUS sarcasm. Hmm, that's weird. If you didn't get that, then just get some social life bro.
Don't ever let this guy take over.
tell your buddy to get his own youtube channel. hoovie on sundays now is already too much.
My dad had one of these back before I knew what a car even was and after seeing this video all the pictures of me standing next to it are so much cooler, great video
Didn't expect to see a Doug Double DeMuro
Lots of bot comments on this, huh?
Best job interview ever! As an amateur youtuber I respect how difficult it can be to be fluent and convincing, and Kennan did an awesome job. Well done mate!
Holy shit there are a lot of bots in the comments.
I remember seeing a blue 328 GTS near the Lodhi Garden area in New Delhi, India, last year. It was the first time I ever saw (and touched) a Ferrari, and it was one of the best moments in my life. What a lovely machine!
I clicked to see Doug explain cars not some other guy with no charisma
Let Doug do whatever he wants with his channel. Keenan is doing a good job so far. No disturbed at all as a viewer. But I'll let Keenan talk about history and specs about the cars. Doug should keep the actual review for himself.
There’s way too much Kennan content lately. Kinda getting tired of him.
it's strange how easy it is for people to be mean...it's like nobody can be diplomatic or have basic courtesy any longer...fucking assholes.
This guy did a good job. Legitimately better than most of us. He is new to Doug style. Doug may let his personality come out more later to develop his style over time.
I have an ‘88 328GTS and is such a great car. I love that classic Ferrari looks with the gated shift and analog driving experience. Probably the most reliable and easiest to maintain Ferraris from this era.
