    This video was rushed out before the review. This seems to be the most asked questions, so I decided to release it early. The actual review will be up next week.

    I am completely new and just built my iKier today. I watched another video earlier today and I thought I would share some thoughts. I found that by drawing a + on the board and then aligning + to the cross hairs and then perform a test fire on the board. Measure the distance and then input the offset. Perform the test again and make minor adjustments if required to get the test fire directly on top of the + symbol. I thank you for sharing your method as I definitely learned some additional things.

    I really appreciate this video. I was using my K1 for months, moving the job by hand after seeing where the laser wanted to frame it. I knew I was missing something with the crosshair functionality. I had to follow another video to square my hairs to the x-y axis since mine came pretty skewed, but now things are running great and I couldn't be happier. Thanks again. Liked and sub'd.

    Hi Rich, thank you for doing these videos! We have just set up our Ikier 24/48 laser engraver, but we didn't know better and moved the laser by hand a few times instead of using the lightburn software, and of course now we keep getting error 11 and hard stop errors. Could you help me get the head reset so it doesn't keep going to the side and stopping? Thanks, Clint

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Just power it off and then on again. The laser will home, and then switch to absolute coordinates Clint and don't move it by hand anymore.

    Had to figure this out weeks ago by myself with the Atezer L2. The offset is 54mm and -2mm on that one. I made a mini L shaped spacer 54 mm long from either direction that way I can turn off the offset when I need extra space but still know exactly where my laser will hit based on the crossbeam and spacer.

      Open the Console tab and type this in: $RST=* and press Enter. Your machine settings are corrupted. If that doesn't work, you'll have to contact Ikier and ask for a firmware update.

    I did notice that there was no mention of the reduced work area size when using crosshairs, something that I can see generating the next rush of why is my module crashing into the rails when they try large jobs, type questions. For this reason alone I am surprised you did not recommend using framing in the normal manner, at least for larger jobs, every newbie wants to see how big a job it can do.

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, it can do a job 51mm less than the work bed, pretty east to figure out. If you position it the way I showed with the map icon, it will never crash into anything. Sliding it around by hand makes it crash. I'm sorry that's all you got out of the video!

    Nice video.
    When you have done the adjustment for the crosshair, can you cut a square 400x400mm?
    My machine does the framing with no problems and the crosshair is inside the material. But when i cut it bumps into my limit switch on the right

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, because the 51mm offset will cause you to loose that space in order to use the laser guided framing. It's a drawback to using crosshair guidance.

    • @FrankMikalsen
      @FrankMikalsen ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy that's what I asked Ikier support about. They say I can cut a square 400x400mm.

    Got my K1 Ultra in Friday. The auto focus doesn't work, kinda. I have to put the piece so it is on the very edge of the touch off button. Then, one of the round rods had come loose as it is only press fit. So it comes out when shipping (or moving it around). I got the extensions with same problem. It would have been nice to know before I got it together then had to take it apart to figure out the problem. I don't think it does a very good job of keeping track of where it is, but that's a whole other post.

    When is the best moment to auto focus, I’m having issues if I auto focus after I locate move the laser to the middle of the bed, and then auto focus, it seems to overwrite the overall Z and X axis so it I start a job it wants to continue off the board and wants to hit the edges and it’s confusing the hell out of me!

    Frankly, this crosshair laser device design is primitive and done cheaply. I am surprised to see it on an expensive, $1k+ laser. It is cumbersome to use. How about having two small red laser heads placed one in the X-plane and the other in the Y-plane, right under the laser head ((below it, NOT to the side o it) projecting lines crossing at the right angle directly end exactly under the main laser lens? Easy to do, accurate every time, no off-setting, no calibrating, no loss of cutting area.

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well you can't have anything under the laser head, but you can have them on two sides with a calibrating screw to get them lined up. I agree, maybe you should suggest it to Atomstack.
