You know, youtube needs so many more videos like this. Real people doing real things; no flash animations and overdubbing; just cool people running a very difficult race. It makes me feel good in a good way, if that makes any sense. This sort of stuff gets me high.
I love that the guy (either Nick or James idk) ahead of him is doing this in the swim trunks I had in 7th grade and some shoes you can get at the outlet mall. Hella props.

This course is soooooo beautiful!! I've only ever seen footage from around the aid stations before, so thanks for taking the camera out on your solid run at Hardrock! Way to go!
I can't believe you brought a camera along to record your amazing experience at Hardrock! It is incredible and the low key nature of it really shows the inside beauty of the people, the race and the San Juans. Sad that the camera turned on in your pack, I would have loved to have seen the rest of your race.
+Chris What I have done is to remove the battery when I put an action camera in my pack, but then it takes a lot of extra time to put the battery back in when you want to take a video clip. And take 3 batteries with you fully charged, and have a charging cable and charging battery. One battery in the camera, 2 on standby.
@@tuesdaysrunner4038 What I do is shove three up where the sun don't shine and but the issue is it takes a lot longer to get it out & ready for a quick vlog etc

I really love this video, it was so great to watch the changing landscape. I like how you said "these aren't going to be every mile" but then proceed to check in almost every mile until the camera dies. ;) Anyhow man, thanks for sharing your Hardrock experience, it was fun and beautiful to watch.
You're very talented Jamil. It's inspiring. I broke my femur and couldn't run half a block without stopping. Years later I gathered up the courage to push through the pain. I did a 16 miler trail run-5,000 elevation gain/loss. I'm training for my first 28 mile trail ultra. Nothing compared to what you are doing but what keeps me going is feeling like you are going places/having adventure in nature and being out in the mountains.

I've watched this probably 5 times (over the span of a couple years of course). This is the first time I noticed actual particles of hail hit your arm and stick. What a difference it makes when you turn your settings to 1080p

I remember a video you posted sometime after Barclays how you were going to go for it and prove to yourself that you could do this well at Hardrock. Great to see you get it done. I found your channel over a year ago when I was searching for NYC marathon vlogs...little did I know I would still be watching all your vids every time you post and have inspired me to run ultras and trails. Seriously, your video is *amazing* and so great to give a good feel about what HR is. I'm one week ahead of running my first 100 miles in Colorado (indeed, my first trail race ever outside France) and now I have a good feel about how it can be (well, that won't be HR, but still).
I followed this year's HR very closely during 2 days, with a live report on a French runners community site and watching your video afterwards, with a topo map, makes me live this again and put images and what I followed virtually, two weeks ago. I remember following your race as well as your brother's (who did such a crazy finish even passing over our great Caroline).
Thanks for putting images on my dreams, thanks for sharing them, thanks for your happyness and smile (including under hail!). I'm discovering a bit late that you were in Chamonix in August 2016, whhile I was running my first UTMB. Sad to discover this now, otherwise, we would definitely have had a great beer.
Finally, last note : funnily I watched live arrivals for HR and I remember a funny thing : you arrived with your kid in your arm, then the 10th runner arrived with his 2 kids in his arms....and we were all wondering whether the next one would HAVE to wear THREE kids in his arms....;-)

Just awesome!!! It's great seeing all the footage, how much fun you were having, seeing the lows (not many) and you came in the top 10. I also love how you did all that "stuff" during the week to help out with the race, making the song/video, doing the editing to keep us up to date, and you still came in the top 10. I am so impressed.
BTW: Was that Gary Robbins that gave you the hug on top of that climb early in the race?

Jam Jam, are you gonna do the Mile check-ins this year? Maybe continue where you left off at Ouray...just start the video off with a snap of the finger and teleport to Mile 56 lol. In all honesty, this video is such a gem. It gives a nice glimpse of what to expect to see mile by mile for at least the first half of the course.
