On some versions they end quickly and fade out fast. This version seemed to keep it louder a little bit longer. I agree with you wholeheartedly about the beauty of the last few notes. Really ended the song well. I could have used a few more seconds.
There's something vaguely medieval about it. Like Robin Hood strolling through Sherwood beeches on a sunny day, with Alan-a-Dale strolling along behind, strumming a song for all the wide green world.
@@vrvaughn in an interview on 60 minutes, Yosef Islam (Cat Stevens) stated that he that Salmon Rushdie was an Infidel, and the 3 million dollar price on his head was appropriate. Cat disappeared from music in the late 70s when he converted to Islam, but reappeared in the late 90s. In later interviews, he has attempted to retract or temper his comments given on 60 minutes. I have heard nothing from Cat about the recent attack on Salmon Rushdie by a an Islamic radical “Hadi Matar”, when Rushdie was stabbed repeatedly, but survived, so Matar will not be able to collect the ransom, which has been in place since 1988, when Rushdie’ book came out…that is why I question the messenger.

Music from the 70's didn't come much better than this. Cat Stevens wrote some beautiful songs, especially on his earlier albums such as Tea for the Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat.
The artist is the pioneer that paint the new horizon that they want us to head towards and that is what Cat Stevens was doing in this song and it was a beautiful perfect horizon that he painted.
I saw him in about 1970/71 at the Redcar Jazz Club, in the North East of England, with Lindisfarne as the warm up act. There was just him and acoustic guitarist Alun Davies, with Cat on acoustic guitar also. This was just after releasing his album ‘Tea for the Tillerman’.
This song, Dancing in the Moonlight and a few others are just so unapologetically joyous and open-hearted that you just want to dance and smile. Anybody who's too cool for a song like this is just sad in my book.
I grew up listening to Cat in the 70’s, so many great songs, each one better than the last. What I love about this song, if you just listen to the cadence of the music and don’t concentrate on the lyrics it totally mimics the sound of riding on a train
I love Cat Stevens music from a long time ago. Didn't realise he had Greek heritage though, and that some of his sound draws from that heritage. Thanks for informing that.
I wrote the first English speech given by a Sth Korean poltician to other politicians and ambassadors on North Korea, since the war ended many decades ago. That politican ended up being the primary advisor to the President as the North and South leaders finally met several years ago. The entire speech was based around the day a peace train would be rolling from North Korea through China, Russia and beyond. The speech captured what came to my mind as I listened to this song. A great song that provided great imagery for my brain to cling to.
Oh man I loved this. I couldn't stop smiling the entire time.. getting to listen to Cat Stevens while seeing how much Lex vibed with it. yeah, this was just what I needed today.
this sound was abundant in the early 70s and very comforting, i remember going on long trips and listening to this and other artists Jim Croce, Gordon Lightfoot, Harry Chapen, James Taylor, Jackson Brown and others with this sound to pass the time, and always had a good feeling when i got to the destination, this sound started in the late 60s and continues now with Artists like Tracy Chapman and others...
