WOW! I caught myself nodding time and again as you recounted changes, do-overs and lessons learned. Been there, still doing that. Love your colour choices. 😊 I am just finishing up my latest corrugated cardboard project. I’ve settled on applying a second layer of heavy cardstock to hide the ridges. I tend to apply a light coloured spray [unless the finish is going to be dark], to seal it all, then work with acrylic craft paints. Anyway, we will just keep running into new learning experiences for as long as we craft things. As always, thanks for sharing your experiences and the results.
I find that cardboard is an extremely understated medium as it conjures up ideas that it's weak, flimsy and also has no longevity, but as you know, sealing it and reinforcing it makes it very solid and durable. I'm glad you're a great user of cardboard too, it teaches us much about the flexibility and limitations of art making. Thank you again for your kind and encouraging comment and have a great weekend! 🙃
Wonderful creation once again Mandy! Lots of thinking outside the box, no pun intended. Nice to see you and listen to your lovely voice, nice way to start my day. Cheers Don ✌️😎
I love this as I do all your work! I've missed not seeing your posts and hope all is OK with you! I can see a lot of work on this and love how you say what works and doesn't! The interior with the lights has inspired me greatly! Would paper lace doilies work or not strong enough? I'm really trying to dirty my work up more as I love how you do it! Look forward to your next project! Thank you for sharing and love your friendly relaxed way of doing this!❤
Im so glad you're getting so much from my tutorials, that makes me tremendously happy! And when it comes to paper doilies, I played with the idea and think if you use paper then you should attach something behind it (hidden) like fly screen, keep the flyscreen dark and it should disappear behind the pattern on the doilie and strengthen it. Theres always a way to figure this stuff out, just trial and error is needed. 🙂 I am well and thank you for asking, I hope all is well with you too! Do let me know how you got on using paper as I am curious about the outcome. Have a great week!
Sadly this build is much like the classic Aussie song, The pub with no beer. Well it's lonesome away from your kindred and all By the camp fire at night, Where the wild dingos call. But there's nothin' so lonesome Morbid or drear, Than to stand in the bar of a pub with no beer.
I was so thrilled to see you post again. Another great job. I know you say you don’t measure, but your work always looks straight. I love that you did the inside with the pictures. It looks very real from the outside.
Hi again Lucy, it's always nice to see one of your ever encouraging comments! I must admit my ability to have straight looking work is from using slow drying glue and making one piece of work at a time in order to adjust all mistakes as I go, but it does seem to work out in the end which is always nice. And the inside is devilishly clever in its simplicity, which I adore because any viewer unaware of how I made it would be baffled as to how I was able to get such fine detail inside...Its a childlike wonder that makes me very happy when people view my work in person, if theyre blind to my process. I hope youre well, and it's good to be back making videos. Have a great weekend!
Hey Mandy, this Old Aussie Pub looks really nice:). And again: cheap materials. I really like your way of showing how to do/make all this little details in a diorama. Astonishing easy to make the inside. Happy that you are back with a video. Have a nice day and week end! Greetings Stubenmuckel:)
Heya Stubenmuckel, it's great to be back and yes the inside of the pub is so simple it's almost downright deceitful lol...So dont tell anyone how I made it 😉 I hope you have a great weekend too!
Looks good. I especially love the interior, it looks so real. Like you I often (well maybe you don't do it often) have those brain fart moments when I know what I'm doing isn't right but I do it anyway. There's a hole in my wall from banging my head against it 😄
I reckon we probably end up in an autopilot mode when building and when we snap out of it we wonder how on earth we stuffed up so badly ..But hey, at least you'd have the skills to repair the hole in the wall, so it's not all bad lol
Looks awesome 😊

I want to go inside, for a tiny drink. Another beautiful piece

By the camp fire at night,

But there's nothin' so lonesome
Morbid or drear,

That does sound dreary, indeed

This looks amazing! Another awesome build! Love the detail of the railing and ceiling. Will you still be posting your vines tutorial?
Thank you very much Desirae, and yes I will be putting up the vine tutorial very soon 🙃
