I had one wrap around my ankle when I was surfing about 40 years ago on the East coast. I was a teenager then and it was very painful. So incredibly painful it was evil. Somehow, probably because I was oblivious, I was able to still not be afraid to surf the rest of my life. I always wondered and couldn't imagine the pain of one wrapping around your face while surfing and duckdiving under a wave or just being a swimmer and it wrapped around your torso or face. The pain would be basically unbearable and you hopefully would lose consciousness. It's beyond brutal.
What they didn't talk about is that their stinging tentacles can be 50 feet long. When you see one don't walk towards it barefoot, if you see one in the water obviously make your way to shore.
They don’t wash up everyday. However, they wash ashore and you see them in the ocean while surfing this time of year. Portuguese Man O’ War wash ashore every year. Meaning, they are seasonal usually in fall or early winter 🏄🏼♂️
@mantis10_surf85 they wash up all winter here so everyday was a stretch perhaps. Although, not a rare occurrence by any means! Thanks for the elaboration...Y F A H!
Nature regulating itself. As Always, May God Bless you and yours! 😇

maybe they're drones too
I just took a shelter pup for a walk of treasure beach, and there’s a lot of them on the beach
They were also in St. Augustine. Likely up and down the Atlantic.
I was wondering what those things were in Cocoa Beach!
Happens every year, depends where the winds blow them.
They are warning people NOT familiar with the tentacles….. you think it’s so pretty and then BAM!
The deadly sting
😮
😮😮😮
If you get stung, put wet tobacco on the sting , keep some tobacco with you when you go to the beach...
They do this all the time why is this even news
Worse than fire ants
To show people what they are and let people know not to touch them.
Orlando is not on the ocean.who cares
