I’m buying for them to have for my daughter who is four years old she’s just starting to play I’m gonna have two of them for her to use and two of them to keep in the box in my display case
It's the perfect portable controller for me! I have a Dualschock 4 at home but whenever I'm going somewhere and feel like playing a level of Sonic, I can just take this out of my pocket, connect it to my phone and run some emulation.
In case someone didn't know this, While the Zero 2 has a D-pad, it actually is the left stick of a normal controller which means that you can play games like smash with it. Games that require a "real D-pad" or the right stick does not work though.
I really wish they would make a small "portable" controller with the New 3ds circle pads design and D-pad. Classic analog sticks just don't feel well in the pocket and makes me feel extra cautious since they can potentially get damaged more easily.
The small size, low cost and number of platforms supported makes this a pretty neat option for controller mods. I've been meaning to retrofit an old Amiga joystick into something more modern for use with emulators. One of these would easily fit in there. It's pretty much cheaper buying one of these than trying to source all parts for a DIY solution.

It's really smarter than everybody can think. Sure they made these mini controllers to match the Switch concept first and clearly for using on the go. More comfortable than a joy-con and the D pad is here. It can fits in a pocket compare to standard pro controller. Like it :)
Is a glossy finish getting scratched up any worse than Nintendo cheaping out and just spraying a matte finish on the joycons and pro controller just to have it get unevenly polished to a shine from use?
This thing is great. i got 2 zero2's to play retro multyplayer games on my phone through retroarch, The fact that its micro and not C is a bit of a bother , but being able to play with whoever and whenever makes up for that.
It's interesting. The micro USB port instead of C and the laughably short included cable are clear cost cutting measures but the controller still costs more than you can get a whole knockoff pro controller for on Amazon. Clearly they still have spent money on button quality and host compatibility I guess.
In find that 8bitdo controllers are always way more comfortable than you think they're going to be from their appearance. I just got my Zero 2 and it's surprisingly comfortable for anything that doesn't use the shoulder buttons too frequently. And it's fun to use too, the light weight actually makes it feel nice too. And my Pro 2 also from 8bitdo kind of looks like a weird cross between a SNES and PS1 analog controller, but man, once in the hand it's uncanny how comfortable it is.
I've had the same experience with 8bitdo controllers. I originally got the SN30 Pro (the one with the analogue sticks, but without the grips) and that was an absolute dream. Then when I got the Pro + (with the grips) my wife ended up keeping it and using it a lot with her family. For Mario Kart and Mortal Kombat mostly. I'm just about to pick up one of these because we're occasionally short by just one controller, so I'll just stick this thing in the carry case so I always have it ready to go
Apparently this controller is quite popular in the art scene, people is using this as keyboard shortcut for painting apps on ipad/PCs. This might be the smallest bluetooth device that have keyboard input.
Late to the party, I bought two of these. It is great that they work with so many different input standards. This can be sketchy in 8bitdo controllers. Many of them lack native Xinput, so you need to use Steam Input on PC or - if you play games outside of steam - XOutput application which translates Direct Input to Xinput. I've seen a lot of people complaining about shoulder buttons, but for a device of this size, I think they are ok. Just press them on ends by the the USB-C port, they get the job done. D-pad is excellent and face buttons work really well! It isn't the best controller out there and if you look for something more fleshed out, Micro is a better pick. But it is still a cool little gadget, gets the job done and it is cheap - I always keep one is my backpack alongside a simple 3D printed phone stand.
I like the controller a lot, I would also like some company to release a small controller like this but with an analog stick like the ds one, so that it would be usable with smash
