Sorry, Father; I’m not “listening” to or “compromising” with the side (your side) that wants to bring gender-bending, abortion, and sodomy into the Church.

No dialogue with evil. I am a convert and find this man’s comments offensive. I tossed and renounced my prior particular unbeliefs (e.g., on the Theotokos, the Saints, etc.). I believe D.B. Hart’s cites about the Russian fathers etc. are off base- who are more conservative than them? Also, many if not most converts are from the Episcopal, Lutheran, and other main line churches, including many in the OCA. lIf I recall, St Paul had quite a dramatic conversion, and surely kept hold of his transferable Jewish underpinnings. The embrace of the alphabet soup theology has been one factor in the decline of other churches, why would the Orthodox Church embrace this. What, Father, do you think we gain by listening to the whining of proud sinners? Where is their humility? Why are we to succumb to these desires couched in “catholicity”? Finally, the OCA in its latest AAC gathering just laid down the red line on these issues. Repent ir get out; go to the Episcopal church if the Church’s tradition, based on the Scriptures and early church founded doctrine offend YOU.

24:00 Bishops are not the gatekeepers of orthodoxy that they once were. They are too easily persuaded by academia and the accolades that come from ivory towers. Just because a bishop gives communion to someone does not mean that the recipient or the bishop are truly orthodox. How many decades did the Episcopal Church elevate bishops who recite the Creeds daily but who publish books against the basic tenants of those very same creeds?

The clergy seem unaware that a proper Orthodox ethos requires that dialogue not bearing fruit to cease. The Church recognizes there is a time ripe for evangelism and a time the fruit is not ripe. At that point when you cannot reap healthy fruit, the Church is to back off and guard the faith.

We are not supposed to do everything that our "lizard brain" or brain stem prompts us to do. All sorts of ideas and urges bubble up from the base of our brains; we don't act on those ideas and urges; we have the teaching of the Church to guide our lives and our decisions. Without those guidelines we will descend into anarchy ( at a minimum)

Talking with proud, non-repentant sinners is a waste of time. On a pastoral level, of course you speak with all, but if the sinner is not only unrepentant but proud of that same sin(s), please explain why you think we need to accommodate these people?

@@williamcordasco945 Matthew 9:9-13. Regardless, Jesus's command to us is to love our neighbor. That's it. No exceptions for people you (in your sinful state, by the way) deem to be proud, unrepentant sinners. Is there a point before we die where God says, 'Now they've sinned too much, the offer of salvation is retracted'? No, the offer of forgiveness is unending and unlimited, and thus should be a model for our own attempts at loving patience.

The Bishop's sole duty is to preserve and pass on that which he has received......the truth, the whole truth and nothing but THAT truth. All the rest is innovation. Do you favor innovation? Do you feel the Church needs upgrading? Then, first learn and practice the full teaching of the Church in all of it's Divine Splendor. That will take you at least a LIFETIME. Then, we can talk about it IN THE NEXT LIFE. Lord Jesus Christ Son of God have mercy upon us sinners!

I left the "United" "Methodist" "Church" precisely as a result of that "church's" decision to allow the legitimization of same sex attraction and practice on a social, legal and theological level. Elevating sterile sexual activity to the level of fertile natural sexual activity in within the bounds of marriage is insane from a theological viewpoint as well as a practical viewpoint. No successful civilization has elevated sterile sexual activity to the protected status of natural fertile sexual activity; same sex attraction has been tolerated on the side not celebrated. This is rank insanity on many levels.

@@johnrockwell5834 In the O.C.A. "Orthodox Church in America" there are quite a few clergy who back female deacons. Normally women do not step behind the iconostasis onto to area where the actual altar is; making a woman a deacon would give her this privilege. NOTE: I'm female and I don't want female leadership. Yes, a small percentage of women can make good leaders (Elizabeth I, Catherine the Great, Etc.) but as a group, females have a harder time elevating reason/logic over emotions, enforcing boundaries, and imposing consistent consequences (generally too much "compassion" ). So let the insults begin against me, that is my life experience in many, many situations (even with supposedly highly educated women).

If you ask real anthropologists they will tell you that the only true matriarchal societies that anthropology is aware of exist among the Papua New Guineans. Those matriarchal societies are living on a stone age level even today. Plus there was a semi-matriarchy in the Mohicans of N.E. America; however they had a male warrior in charge of decisions regarding war. So, guess matriarchies didn't arise OR those arose and were overcome by patriarchies.
