    In all my years of owning houseplants I’d never had a mealybug until this week!! Ughhhhh. I found two. One on my Prince of Orange and one on my McColleys Finale. I got them from AA too. I removed them with alcohol dipped swab, repotted them with fresh soil and treated them with the neem oil spray and I’ve been inspecting them twice a day. I haven’t found any more yet.

      It's a matter of time, unfortunately. I hope the video was helpful! The McColley's and Prince of Orange are definitely on my wishlist! 😍

    Gahhjh AAcres can sometimes become overrun with mealies! Like you said it's just too many plants to look after for 3 people (or whatever their staff is).... i always check my plants over and over before purchase but honestly their prices and selection are worth it! You should have seen it last fall over there. My boyfriend jokes that I said I would never go back bc of the bugs! But they have made great improvements!

      It was only one this round, but I'm starting to suspect my Ornata has spider mites...😑

      It's so funny, because I just went to bionide's website and it says that their neem spray is good for spider mites. So I think I'm going to try that first, because I have my homemade one and as previously mentioned: I'm cheap!

    My hindu rope hoya is currently drip drying in my bathtub after getting an initial shower and then doused with a similar neem spray mix. It would probably take me an hour to swipe through all of the crevices searching for mealy bugs, but it's worth it, I love that darn plant!

      And they take forever to grow, so it's definitely worth the hassle!

    Thanks for this video! I have mealy bugs on my Adansonii that keep coming back. I remove them one by one and drench it in alcohol and thought it was supposed to be enough but obviously not. Previously I used only neem oil (not concentrated, but the bottle said it was ready to use) and burned a lot of my other plants, so I kept it off this one. I'll try your insecticide combination :)

      Hey Victor, I damaged sooo many plants with a super concentrated one, so I feel your pain! I haven't had any issues with this DIY spray. Good luck and thanks for watching!

    How long do you keep them out of direct sunlight?

    I found mealybugs on a fabian stump I recently bought. I sprayed it with neem oil and soap. It has to practice social distancing from my other healthy plants.

      Good idea, lol! Thank goodness I quarantined these guys before repotting them!

    Is it okay to spray neem oil when you bring home a new plant?

    • @DrunkenHomemaker
      @DrunkenHomemaker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would. But also, keep it away from your other plants for a while.
