Functions of a lubricant: A lubricant performs following functions 1) It forms a thin film between two surfaces and thus, redfices wear and tear and surface deformation (2) It acts as a coolant between two surfaces, as it reduces low of energy in the form of heat (3) Lubricant reduces energy loss and hence, increases the efficiency of machine (4) It reduces the maintenance and running cost of the machine (5) it minimizes the friction and liberation of frictional heat. (vi) It reduces the expansion of metal and local frictional heat (vi) It also acts as a aleg lubricant used between piston and cylinder wall of IC engine acts as a seal and prevent the leakage of gases under high pressure from cylinder. (vii) lt absorbs shocks, when present in bearings and in other engine parts. Thus, it also reduces noise h engines. (s) It also carries away contaminated products, dust, waste particles etc. and prevents damages (x) Use of lubricants may raise the speed of working of machines.
Ma'am if possible, please upload all the videos for this chapter before 25th June. And thank you so much for these videos, these have been really helping me a lot.
@@chemistrybydr.anjalissaxena madam I had currently given class 12th exams also I have cleared JEE main with rank 15122 My father runs factory in which we manufacture lubricants and greases and I want to pursue my career in such a course that would help me in enhancing the business
@@blaze102 good. It's a topic in many engineering but not a full flash topic/ or course in engineering. But you can search out in Mechanical Engineering,
