    Basically if you are a student like me, who travels a lot, likes games, but also has to work with softwares lile Matlab, AutoCAD. This is the thing for you. Just bought mine. It is important to say that it can be charged through a USB C port therefore no need to take the AC brick if you wont use it for gaming. Finally I can show to a meeting with a decent design laptop and not bringing my msi which looks like the aliens send it to me.

    • @jmadluck
      @jmadluck 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      You're not gonna get the same power input from USB c PD than you will from the AC brick. You'll probably still drain the battery if you're gaming while charging with USB C

    • @useruserov8668

      These TDP ratings are different between Intel and AMD. Thats why i don't recommend comparing these numbers directly.

    • @Lapisz123
      @Lapisz123 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@useruserov8668 True, they both rate TDP differently and can only be compared by real-world power draw measurements. However, the more obvious point of his/her comment is to remark that Ryzen is still far more efficient than its Intel counterparts, and this fact is proven by other reviews on the Zephyrus G14 and comparisons of desktop Ryzen CPUs vs Coffee Lake-S Refresh in general.

      @@faranocks No sorry, AMD chips were competitive for years. The only reason it hasn't shown as being competitive in laptops is because the laptops that AMD chips have been featured in were older models, or gimped with single channel memory, inferior cooling solutions or other garbage hardware choices.
      The reality is that a Ryzen 5 2500U beats an Icelake i7 quadcore in an apples to apples test. And we are talking about 15W vs 25W with the Icelake boosting to 65W.
      Basically Intel cannot compete with near double the average power usage compared to AMD's 14nm parts.... today it is utterly decimated by AMD's 7nm parts.

    @0:31 it is not even a competition anymore. it destroys the i9 in every aspect (more power-efficient, more powerful(unless you get a thick and power-hungry i9 laptop), better thermals and battery life). c'mon it is not even close. in fact, even if you get a thick and power-hungry i9, 4900HS beats it in some tests. 2 areas in which Intel has bigger values: price-tag and TDP.

    why nobody is talking about the fan noise level, I have bought this laptop and used it only a day then returned it. Unless the laptop is run at performance fan level the games I have tested with did not perform well. ( Total War: Warhammer II, World of warships) when the games were performing ok, the fans were blowing at 4000+ RPM and that is kind of annoying. Not sure if anyone can enjoy a game at that noise level. I think eGPU is the way to go. Also, there is a recognizable heat felt in the keyboard area while typing if the computer runs at a high fan level for a while.

    AMD is definitely better than Intel, those are facts, but paying for a laptop just for its CPU a price almost the same as an intel 10th gen powered one with a way better GPU and better screen is just not enough! People speak about the advantage of AMD laptops being cheaper but, $200 price diffefence is nothing if we are talking about prices above $1200 (my personal opinion). And yes, there are features such as portability and the kind of software used that actually takes advantage of the AMP CPU but, is unacceptable to have the worst specs in a laptop just because is AMD (blame intel-lover market).
