Great reaction is my favourite. Listen to them all to time. Always do enjoyable.
The Voice Play rabbit trail is just amazing can't wait til you see more of the vids your going to truly enjoy them
Loved your reaction, thanks. Starting with the bass singer (who also arranged, costumed and was creative director for this video) - that's Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci. He has a personal channel, you might try listening to his cover of Ain't No Sunshine. Seated next to him, and the second soloist, that's J None. J was a member of the group from 2018-2021, when he left to go sing for the navy. He was in both earlier and more recent performances as featured singer. Then Eli - (rhymes with jelly) with that great metal-edged voice; he joined in 2010. Eli is increasingly responsible for lights, sets - the visuals. Cesar is the newest add, and we're still learning what an amazing range he has. In theory he's the baritone, but listen to Dream On - Cesar took the high note. Joined about a year ago. Finally, Layne, or rather, vioLayne. Beatbox, sweet, sweet baritone, and - twice now (check Warriors for the first one) violinist. Geoff and Layne (founding members, 1997) pretty much split the arrangements, and together do about 99%. As a generality, whoever takes on doing the arrangement, has the final word and probably does everything else. I'm looking forward to seeing more reactions from you two!
Eli, the bald gentleman, his name is pronounced Ellie.
I will add, Geoff has an extraordinary range, 5 octaves. He drops E1s like ticks off a hound dog, then follows up to a "belt to Jesus" high note.
Ooooooo....that bass singer right down to my toes...I'm a sucker for bass and baritone voices anyway, but OMG...❤️❤️❤️
The bass is Geoff Castellucci and he also arranged this . He is immensely talented and has his own solo channel also.
i abosoulty love voiceplay they are amazing
love this reaction
My first time seeing you both and I really enjoyed your reaction. I became obsessed with Geoff and VoicePlay 2yrs ago and because of them, have also had fun discovering new and interesting reactors. Subscribed in anticipation of more Geoff/VoicePlay on your channel! 🙂👍
Just found your reaction and Loved it! You made me smile with your reaction to Geoff and Elli and the rest of the gentlemen. They are really good at capturing the essence of the music. Love the no filter also. Geoff actually has a 5 octave range.
Some more songs you might be interested in, " Carry on my Wayward Son," " In my Room" to name a few. First time listening to you. Really enjoyed your reaction.
Loved the reaction and VPers are always happy to help with their names and info about the group. Can't wait to see you dive into the VP rabbit hole, subscribed and looking forward to more. Suggestions: Dream On, Warriors, Halo, The Dragonborn Comes, Just Sing (captions on is a must), Eleanor Rigby, Boy Bands in 5 Mins, Running Up That Hill, Queen in 5 Minutes, and anything Disney. So many more suggestions, but that's a start.
Enjoyed your reaction. Everyone has given you the serious suggestions - but in light of your mustache comment, you might like Geoff's covers of "Ghost Riders" or "Misty Mountains Cold". Staches galore🤣
And Geoff’s really shines in those!
Love me some acapella! but that bass! Omg ❤️ #SwolePatrol
Those unexpected bass drops are how you know it's a VoicePlay song! Geoff Castellucci (the bass) also has a channel for his solo work, which is amazing--he has a five-octave range and makes full use of it. Next to him is featured guest J.None, a former full-time member of the group who collaborated with them on this while he was on leave from the Navy. The moustachioed man with the rock god rasp is Eli Jacobson. Cesar De La Rosa, on his left, is the newest full member of the group, and Layne Stein is the beatboxer/violinist/baritone. I love watching 'VioLayne' knock reactors for a loop. :) Thanks for sharing an awesome reaction with us! I look forward to seeing you react to more from them! Some others you might like, if you're not already familiar with them, are their covers of Dream On, Carry On Wayward Son and Hoist the Colours, but anything in their repertoire is well worth checking out.
I will always be her for Voiceplay and Geoff. They are so, so good!!
They will always pay homage to the original, but there is always the Voiceplay twist.
I will suggest Warriors, it is the only other time that VioLayne has performed (J None, too).
For something completely different, I Can't Make You Love Me - it is a heartbreaker!
When you get to Geoff Castellucci's solo work, start with Shenandoah.
Subscribed in anticipation of more Voiceplay and Geoff!
I am right there with ya, I suck at names. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Love y'all!
Everyone else in the comments has basically already given you the important info, so I will just comment on my favourite thing you said: "The base is moving around in his range." That made me laugh out loud because Geoff's range is 5 octaves. That man can and will be (and frequently is) his own acapella group (you really should check out his channel for his "solo" works).
Oogie Boogie's Song big time shows off Geoff's (Jeff's) bass
This is my first time seeing you guys and I loved your reaction!! I love that you felt the connection to the original. One of my favorite things about VoicePlay is their ability to completely change a song, yet still retain the integrity of the original. This one stayed more true to the original but sometimes they change practically everything and still manage to maintain it, somehow. Their arrangements are top tier!
I will always be here for VoicePlay and Geoff videos!
Geoff is the long haired bass his name is Geoff Castellucci he has his own channel and he is the one that arranged this song.
Next to him is J None real name Jesse Nunn he is a guest here but used to be a full time member before he joined the Navy during the pandemic.
Next is Eli Jacobsen he is the bald tenor with the dashing 'stache! He is the rock god of the group.
The next fellow is Cesar De La Rosa he is their newest member he is supposed to be a baritone but he can sing super high too.
Finally there is Layne Stein the beatboxer. He also sings mostly baritone but has a wide range just like the others. And you see he is also a fabulous violin player. He also arranged the music and produces the videos for VoicePlay.
I think you will have an enormously good time reacting to these guys they are very theatrical and really like to put on a good show.
Always impressed with (bass) Geoff's arrangements and the addition of Layne ( beatboxer) #VIOLAYNE was the icing on the cake A VoicePlay and Home Free fan.
The guy with the stash is Eli (pronounced ellie) killer rock voice watch Dream On cover Guy on the right is beatboxer Layne and the guy between stash and Layne is Caeser
Just saw your reaction and absolutely loved it. I just subscribed looking forward to seeing more voiceplay reactions
If you are really into rock, try Warriors (Imagine Dragons) (Layne plays violin and beatboxes all the way through, J None does a few lines of violin as well), follow by Dream On (Aerosmith) Geoff calls it Warriors 2, and maybe Carry On My Wayward Son (Kansas). Geoff has a solo channel and 2 of my favorites are Blackbird (Beatles) and High and Dry (Radiohead).
OK, so left to right: Geoff Castellucci-bass extraordinaire, also the arranger of this song. Next to him is J.None, who was the baritone for the group until he was recruited to sing for the Navy. The guy with the awesome ‘stache is Eli (ELee) Jacobson-was once a rock singer. Next to him is Cesar De La Rosa, now officially the baritone but he’s been filling in on some of the high vocals as well. Finally, Layne Stein, who also does arrangements for the group, as well as being an amazing beatboxer and violinist (tho we’ve only gotten to hear him once before).
Loved the reaction! I’m glad you like these guys. Pretty much anything you pick to listen to is great, so just scroll through their videos and pick whatever you think you’d like. Voiceplay is amazing!
Also, if you like bass, Marwan Ayman just released a cover of Avi Kaplan’s Get Down (Avi is the former bass for Pentatonix, now doing his own thing-you should hear him too) Get Down. Well worth checking out.
First time to your channel and I loved y'alls reaction. As Voiceplay is something fairly new to your reaction repertoire, I'd like to offer a little advice on your musical journey I call The 2 Rules. First, never interrupt a David Gilmour guitar solo and second, watch a Voiceplay video all the way to the Patreon list as they like to sneak little surprises in, at times, after the fade to black. Have a great weekend! :)
They did a cover of Aerosmith’s Dream On. You would probably enjoy that one as well. 😊
Since VoicePlay has ben a member down for a while, they've been using a lot of guest artists recently. And even when the guest artist is a former member (as J. None is), they make sure that the guest artist has a lead role in the video. I would think that would really be in incentive for people to want to be a guest artist with them, even ignoring just how GOOD the members of VoicePlay are at what they do!
I dig it!
Almost all of the VoicePlay arrangements are done by Layne (the beatboxer, also doing violin on this one) and Geoff (the bass). There mantra is 1) If all you are going to do is copy the original arrangement replacing the instruments with voices, it's not worth doing, just listen to the original, 2) BUT, if you go so wild on your arrangement that it has NO connection to the original, you've also failed. Hope you get a chance to react to more VoicePlay and some of Geoff's solo work
Here for it! 🔥
This is the first time I've seen you all. Thank you for your comments and observations. Please continue with VoicePlay and Geoff Castellucci's works! Looking forward to seeing more of these from you!
Dang, finally getting around to some VoicePlay. Need to watch one of your lives in the near future. Just been too busy lately... working 90+ hours per week.
Great reaction.
VoicePlay has released a couple fantastic videos recently featuring Anthony Gargiula. The first one is Golden Hour with Kathy Castellucci, Geoff's wife in an acting role. The second one is a mind blowing rendition of Seven Nation Army. It's the third part of their zombie apocalypse series following Warriors and Dream On.
In case nobody mentioned it, Geoff has a 5 octave range.
Great reaction. As you enjoy the acapella groups be sure to check out the "deets" arranged by, composed by, lighting, etc. VP does most of their own stull so caution comparing the 3 groups it becomes apples to oranges. That said they are all good
Bald guy is Eli (pronounced like jelly) tenor.. Has fronted a couple rock bands in the past before voiceplay.
Bass is Geoff Castelucci.. 5 octave range. And arrages some of voiceplays songs..
Layne Stein- beatboxer/ baritone/ violayne extrordinaire. Also arranges some v.p. songs.
Ceaser- baritone
J none- (former baritone for voiceplay) currently serving in the navy if im not mistaken.
Voiceplay "oogie boogies song" is absolutely worth checking out. Ut is much better with headphones. Geoff hits some below the basement floor type notes in that one 😊❤
You must check out Misty Mountain Cold by Geoff, super base and harmonics where he layers his voice backing himself up.
check out How The Grinch Stole Christmas
They're really good. But other than the bass, they sound like the BACKSTREET BOYS UNPLUGGED LMAO 🤣
Seriously?
Obviously you weren't listening more than as superficial as BSB are.
Oh. ... dear ... I respectfully disagree....🤨
Did y'all get wet with the bass
