Because this has real grit within its beauty. Awards shows can't handle truthful art
While not as colorful as Fairy Dust and lacks the multiple scenery, Fire Fade explores the stillness of loneliness and the boredom and numbness that follow the fading of emotions. She tells a story from her past about someone whom she loved and loved her back yet denied his feelings for her when word broke out, and eventually she was the one looked down upon. She also chases a haunting butterfly which likely represents her dead friend from Fairy Dust or perhaps a ghost of her past that she keeps coming back to no matter how much she likes to think that she moved on. She lets out a loud scream which perfectly represents the struggle and the rage that follows one's disappointment or how it feels when you feel like the whole world shut you down and you've only got yourself in your own little routine which you can neither get used to nor escape by doing something else as you're too emotionally wrecked to enjoy something else.
She walks on walls and sits on the ceiling and does the same things over and over, showing how she's torn between her reality and fantasy and the days go by and she feels like she's getting older (as she commented at the start, "I'm an old bitch", yet she keeps doing the same thing, being stuck in the same loop, even though she tells herself "why not?"). By the end, even though the fire has faded, she doesn't stop herself from having fun, doing what she wants. After she catches the butterfly, showering and washing away her sorrows, she has sex with the boys next door because she wants to move forward and do something new, even if it's random and soulless, and who knows? it could be just another fantasy in her head. I think it links well with the upcoming Light Beams short film, which I think represents the lights of hope that we come up through the darkness of life.
Tove Lo's artistry always stands out as one time she portrays sexuality, emotions and fun, and another, she portrays the disappointment in love and friendship, hitting rock bottom with drugs and heartbreak and trying to escape reality but eventually hitting the same spot and facing the darkness of where life got her. She remains the most remarkable new artist. Thank you, Tove Lo. Can't wait for Light Beams and Pitch Black.

What is Light Beams and Pitch Black?
WildForTheNight her next album is reportedly called Lady Wood (Phase II), at least as a working title for now. The album will feature two sections just like Lady Wood, called Light Beams and Pitch Black. Each will have a short film of its own and continue the story of Fairy Dust and Fire Fade.
Disappointed that everyone slept on this short film. Both mean so much to me personally and I think they are both so amazing

I'm reading the comments and a lot of people are disappointed but I guess this is how this part of the album should look like. It's like you're coming down from a high of loving somebody, so the video shows how does it feel like. When the fire fades. Lonely. With you going crazy on your own. I think it was meant to look that way. Just an opinion. I absolutely love it, specially Imaginary Friend which is one of my favorite songs ever because it is just like that in real life: you only have you to count on when the fire fades.

I also love how the last song represents getting that rush again and getting even higher than the first time, im assuming this is going to lead into phase 2

We witnessing her echos, demons, thoughts, imaginary friends, madness alone and hard times, You lost your strong killer ego and this happening, You are alone and you dont want to be somebody's boy/girl all you want is forget the shit you. Cause we all fucked up and we escaped the gravity with the heaviness of our thoughts.

Lane Nguyen I totally forgot about the 'alter ego comes back' but I also think she died and she'll also always be there with her. So I don't really know but I don't think her alter will still be in the storyline
The alter ego is like what only comes with the Fairy Dust, and when the fairy dust wears off, what is left is just the reality which is presented in Chapter 2. That may explains why the chapter 2 isnt about getting strangely excited anymore i guess.

It doesn't pack the same punch as fairy dust... and I think that's the point. I love it all the same, and Tove is one of my all time faves. I'm 100% here for this. This video is confined to a small space but she used literally EVERY inch of that space. Bravo, Tove.

FIRE FADE a.k.a masterpiece, my god, i´ve seen it hundred times and i just don´t get tired of it, i can relate so much to this insane production
I loved it! ATTENTION EVERYONE: Don't forget that this is just the Fire Fade chapter in her at first double disk album. She said in an interview that there were 4 chapters originally: 1. Fairy Dust 2. Fire Fade 3. Light Beam and 4. Pitch Black. That was the original plan for the Lady Wood album but since there were too many songs she decided just to split the album and have the first two chapters on one album and have the last two chapters on her next album. Light Beam and Pitch Black will for sure be having mini movies with them as well. SO everyone please calm down. I'm pretty sure it's all going to make since when she relates those movies as well. And also allegedly her 3rd album is supposed to come out this year so we'll see about that :) PS I LOVE TOVE LO!!! SHE'S MY FAV ARTIST OF ALL TIMEEEEEE!!!
