I just tried searching Perplexity using the setup you have described in your video. I searched for "tell me about the tiananmen square massacre". Got an answer! What I like is I didn't have to install DeepSeek on my computer and I got the additional benefits of Perplexity formatting and answers.
@@seekerodyssey1 guy is saying that deepseek doesnt ans stuff related to communist party n through perplexity using deepseek to ans this firewall is bypassed.
This is shady tactics, they take an Open Source thing, add a cherry on top and Charges hundreds of dollars. They will contribute to the DeepSeek Open Source in return, instead of only says it's "safe" because it's not running outside the US?
I have been considering dropping my Perplexity subscription since I'm honestly spending quite a bit on various AI subscriptions. However, after watching this informative video, I will most likely keep it and Gemini and maybe Claude. I did not realize how the many useful usecases i can implement with this tool. Thanks for the video man. I appreciate the video's insights - it really helped clarify the platform's worth! You are always saving us money and adding value. thanks for the videos.
Deepseek is ruling entire media atm, we can say < power of open-source > ?

You convinced me to give Perplexity another try. The desktop doesn't have the same options as the web interface and doesn't include the choice of models. This is much more effective than the simple search I rarely used before due to the lack of qualitative output.
DeepSeek is genius. The CCP makes it free because it knows that is the only way to compete with US-based AI like OpenAI. By making it free, it eliminates all competition. You pay OpenAI only to support a U.S. based company, which is not sustainable long term. The switch from GPT to DeepSeek will still be slow, because change is difficult regardless of pricing; but DeepSeek is making the transition seamless by using the same exact interface. As a bonus, and probably the ultimate goal, China will win the AI race (unless something amazing happens on the U.S. side). Not only will China win, they will absolutely use all the data they have obtained via DeepSeek (whereas that is considered unethical in the U.S.). Although Trump did give US based AI some leniency recently. We’ll see just how much leniency if project Stargate ever kicks off.
Yes. Unless AGI is reached soon, the winner will be those with the most really smart people and with the best AI. Deepseek suggest that the AI field is now level, and the expensive chip barrier is down. Who has the smartest users? China of course.
Chinese coders have some insane work ethics. The Deepseek model is genius. Plus it was made for far less. Like 6 million compared to billions these other companies are spending on AI. It's just a matter of time when we get an Einstein Chinese coder to program a model that blows everything out of the water. Something that uses even less resources and dominates everything else. Thanks to open source projects in the field for all this.
Exactly, If you are going to let the genie out of the bottle, let everyone get a wish... +1 for open source and the decision makers in China for doing so.
Was it ?, can you really trust that , was there government investment that they are not counting ?, $6m compared to billions, seems to good to be true and when its to good to be true its probably not
I see two reasons: 1.- The version on their website is censored. 2.- You are probably sending your data to the CCP. If you are OK with that, go ahead and use it through their website. :D
I don't think it's necessary to use Perplexity; you can utilize the web search functionality in DeepSeek instead. However, it depends on the specific task you're asking it to perform.
But the real question is whether this even matters, given that the Deepseek website already has an active search feature. Unless you're referring to the possibility of using Perplexity AI's own implementation of the Deepseek R1 API (or their open-source model) locally, rather than relying on the online version. This could bypass server overload issues caused by high traffic from excessive website usage.
This is DeepSeek R1 "Through" Perplexity, NOT Deepseek + Perplexity. This just all the R1 strengths. Its better natively than perplexity since it includes web searching. The only benefit is maybe the US hosting, however I find the China fear mongering overdone. An I wrong?
It depends. Perplexity is mainly a search engine. So if you use ChatGPT for analysis or summarization of your own documents or the customGPTs you can make, it’s not worth the switch
Why would you pay $20 when DeepSeek is totally free online? You can even download it in your local computer, as you told us in other videos. So, why would you pay to any company?
It's a totally different tool. Perplexity does a lot more than just give you access to DeepSeek. I've been paying for it way before DeepSeek and I have ton of videos about the things it does. Also, there are privacy issues with the deepseek website. so lot of people prefer a U.S. hosting version of it. And you have tried to use deepseek on their website. It's almost always down and giving errors right now.
looks like my comments are always being deleted. I was just outlining Perplexity's limited amount of reasoning queries per day, even for Pro users ;) nice censorship lol >>> EDIT: Looks like the limits are now REMOVED! HAVE AT IT! Thx perplexity
nope...direct to DeepSeek provide better answer and faster. Don't care about where it host...I am not asking any sensitive information. I used perplexity for more than 1 year and the search result always worse than directly use chatgpt. Perplexity follow up questions suggestion are getting worse and not insightful. BTW why always asking the man with the plastic bag? anyone even watch the complete video when the man climbed the tank, scolded the tank "driver" got down, and walk away....hahaha, so funny some keep on trying to test the engine asking that kind of useless political questions.....hahaha
Don't be overdramatic. Perplexity has added DeepSeek for FREE, to its $20 Pro plan at no extra charge. See how things really are, when you take the time to think about it?

Oh interesting
what did it say
cant u use the deepseek website without downloading it? What am I missing?
Thats all you care about? Westerners are so weird
@@seekerodyssey1 guy is saying that deepseek doesnt ans stuff related to communist party n through perplexity using deepseek to ans this firewall is bypassed.
Been recommending Perplexity for about a year - don't know why more peps are not using it. Great to have R1 now :)
This is shady tactics, they take an Open Source thing, add a cherry on top and Charges hundreds of dollars.

who is your dealer 🥕🍀
The 'teaser rate' with be replaced very shortly with more realistic pricing
Yes. Unless AGI is reached soon, the winner will be those with the most really smart people and with the best AI.
Deepseek suggest that the AI field is now level, and the expensive chip barrier is down. Who has the smartest users? China of course.
results are better than using other models :)
Please comment on using DeepSeek R1 + Notebook LM = ?
Great video, thank you

@jorgefernandes8174 i agree...we are taking their word for it. I don't trust them.
@jorgefernandes8174 if it was done in the US, would you have asked the same questions with the same level of scepticism?
Your videos are very informative. What app do you use to make your videos. Thanks
Thanks. Usually with OBS for recording and adobe premiere for editing
A very timely video sharing your thoughts. Thank you very much.
So good thanks for this post. Whats your best thoughts on Estimating for construction - I was thinking Chatgpt but this may change my mind.
I just tried R1, and it's excellent!
Great video!
One question I have, why not using Deepseek’s research option instead? I’m thinking if the current censoring worths $20 per month
I wonder if there will be widespread canceling of the $200 a month ChatGPT Pro?
It is hosted in US as well
Yep
Which means the is not trustful to the rest of the world.
can i use R1 with spaces? (using my own knowledge base)
Hmm good idea, how would you collect your knowledge base? What’s spaces?
if you use it through their website, wont it be the same thing? Why should we use it in the perplexity and pay? I dont quite get it. Can someone help?
I was wondering if I was missing something. I feel the same way.
I see two reasons:
1.- The version on their website is censored.
2.- You are probably sending your data to the CCP.
If you are OK with that, go ahead and use it through their website. :D
God bless Deepseek people
Are they using the full r1 model or one of the distilled Qwen versions? Those are much less impressive in my experience.
I think the one perplexity has us the full version
I don't think it's necessary to use Perplexity; you can utilize the web search functionality in DeepSeek instead.
However, it depends on the specific task you're asking it to perform.
You should ask 'who the heck is this DeepSeek that came out of nowhere then disrupt the market?'
I can’t believe how much value book Forbidden Gateway to Money Mastery delivers. It’s way too underrated
Perplexity + DeepSeek R1 = The future of search just arrived! 🔥 But does this mean Google’s days are numbered? 👀
I think that google advanced research is the most powerful tool for research
Skip perplexity. Just run it locally where it’s not censored and it’s free.
Can you do web search with local install?
@@SkillLeapAI tbh....if the user skillful enough
sky is the limit
I have used it and it is good
Congratulations on becoming the AI and Crypto czar
lol

This is great news, but they haven't made these two new models available on their Android app
So... is there any downside to swapping my Chat GPT subscription for Perplexity?
It depends. Perplexity is mainly a search engine. So if you use ChatGPT for analysis or summarization of your own documents or the customGPTs you can make, it’s not worth the switch
@ 🤓👍
Can Perplexity Pro do some codes?
Cursor or Replit are better solutions for that use case
You can tell it's America when they need AI help to do their taxes
US commercialising Chinese OpenWare.
20$ vs free?
Why would you pay $20 when DeepSeek is totally free online? You can even download it in your local computer, as you told us in other videos. So, why would you pay to any company?

It's safer is one of the many reasons
So China doesn't get all your data.
The version you’ll be downloading would be a very stripped down version very few Hm computers can run the 70 billion parameter model.
deepseek doesn't search the web. i don't have perplexity, just free deepseek. but i have gemini pro. deepseek deepthink really is neat.
The question was "is it a good buy". Why was the answer not YES it is or NO it isn't? It didn't answer the question.
why pay for something when it is free ?
If it's free what are they selling? And sometimes the answer is you.
Under 1 hour gang
Deepseek is like android/linux. Ofc they gonna own the market
Perplexity investors put a bid on purchasing TikTok is all over the news
How up to-date are the results being generated?
I had stuff from today
I am curious, Deepseek has told me twice already that it has its knowledge cut off October 2023. Did anyone else experience this?
I saw the Perplexity update. The combo is indeed great 👌
Really paying $200 a month for o1? Feels for me like a waste of money. I really don't understand why someone shall pay it..
compare Gemini deep search
paid ? forget it
looks like my comments are always being deleted. I was just outlining Perplexity's limited amount of reasoning queries per day, even for Pro users ;) nice censorship lol
>>> EDIT: Looks like the limits are now REMOVED! HAVE AT IT! Thx perplexity
I bought some Nvidia this morning for $120, it's up $7.98 cents so far today.
Wise
Dude congrats
Another one snort (or two) review, every bud knows the rules.

eepseek is free !!!! perplexity selling it is corrupt !!!!!
Don't be overdramatic.
Perplexity has added DeepSeek for FREE, to its $20 Pro plan at no extra charge.
See how things really are, when you take the time to think about it?
Deepseek is Chinese 😲 are we just ok with that? Seems to be very concerning issues regarfing china and it's technology 🥷
Just say you feel political and racial on them
But all iphones are made in China so we should be concerned also why are we not because the iPhone can send data to CCP
Hosted in the US 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 .. thats funny
deepseek is nice if its not censored. try asking what happened in tianmen square 1989 or update on west philippine sea. :p
Question why pay £20 just use Gemini it is free and works like this perplexity.😅😅😅
You have limited access to their capabilities
Deepseek R1 + Websim really killer o1, sonnet. Websim.....
