I am hearing some fuzz in the right ear. Might be a phase issue, or a cable connection? Only present when the drum recording is playing. Anybody else hearing this? Top chops regardless, loving it!!
During improvisational segments, I've heard various Indian instrumentalists switch between 9, 10, 6, and 5 tuplet patterns without stopping and still doing variations of each tuplet rythm in between. I've done this switching myself, though it needs some work.
You’re one of the best drummers out there Mr Cola. This nine thing? It’s crazy. I’m gonna go to Krispy Kreme and get a chocolate covered Donut. This 9s thing make me think to much. 🤪. NEXT. 😀
Cool; nice flow to it and not impossible to learn. My only question is, where do you use it? Is it for solos only? This what I don't get about all these odd tuplet phrases such as this.
Question: Do you come up w these licks just by feel and then later dissect them on paper? Sometimes that’s how I do it. Actually, all time. You’re awesome. I love your videos.
How do you practice playing groups of 9 to sound perfectly even and smooth? I can play the pattern (not very well) just can't seem to sit right. Also cheers for this lick can't wait to be able to pull it out and blow people's minds!
You didn’t describe the nine notes all you did is play it over and over and over a different tempos you didn’t describe with her it’s right left left left left right right???????
what is supposed to be difficult Ive been doing that one and even more dense figures for over 35 years just demonstrate it and keep quiet people dont learn like that is nice its bot sick man but its good
Hearing it against the metronome made it feel even CRAZIER ! lol
The perfect lick to get you fired from any band :D This is definitely a drummer's drummer lick.
especially when it can’t be played in time consistently - leave this stuff for the real big dogs -yep start slow and play it IN TIME

Me too.
Definitely coming from one of the drum mics which has a slow gate in it
God man that must have taken a ridiculous amount of practice xD

Perhaps this should be musically notated as 16th note triplets in order to get 36 of them into a 4/4 bar. Cool lick.

BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If these were 9s as written, the bass drum would land on 1 each time and the final crash would be on 1.the bass drum anticipates 1 each time ?
Where's the original video of the lick?
Watch it at 1.25 or 1.5 speed...it sounds sick lol
