Repair Your Cat Scratching Post: My cat loves to tear up her scratching posts. Rather than buy a new one each time I try to repair some of the old ones. Join me today as I repair my cat's scratching post.
Tks! I have 4 of the posts (square with big platform base) The only thing I would do differently is place any staples on the back side of the post that is against the wall to prevent possibility of a claw catching onto a staple. Besides a couple of starting/ending staples, someone used double-sided tape, a strip run vertically down the front & back of each side before winding the rope. I hope that will keep the rows from pulling down. Tks again!
thank you...yes i worred about the cats getting their claws stuck...and the posts i did used staples with, the rope came off any ways..so will try the tape
I am using an Arrow T-55 staple gun with 9/16" staples. A hammer is sometimes needed to get the staples all the way in. Try to put staples on one side so the cats don't get their claws stuck in them.

Were you able to get it tight enough?
Yes. I pushed the rope down and added a few more rows. This post is still going strong.
