I'm outraged this treasure has less than 4,000 videos to date. Please know, John, that the current low view count does not reflect the excellence of your performance, arrangement, recording, and camera work. My hope is that one day the Algorithm will smile upon you and that this comment, obsolete by then, will be buried under the praise of the droves.
@@JohnOethGuitar It's so good! I found this after TH-cam recommended your Final Fantasy collection to me. Well, I don't have any big following but I did share it on a couple of forums I use.
The Girl Who Stole the Stars, I can't believe you covered this. Absolutely amazing, the amount of care I've seen you put into your covers between this and the FF collection, I should have been a subscriber sooner. Thank you so much
The moment you began to play "The Star Stealing Girl" from Chrono Cross, my throat closed up tight. So much feeling in your playing style, I was bowled over by the nostalgia and longing for home. Thank you for sharing such beautiful, soothing music!
I love how you play with such intention. This is the definition of someone who feels the music when they are playing, as opposed to simply reproducing the notes.
Just yesterday i ended NieR: Automata final E and erased all my data, and today i wake up, make breakfast and play this video and, surprise! NieR's theme at first. Thanks for sharing your talent, John! You made my day. :)
Beautifully played - very clean with nice dynamics and articulation. No mean feat! There was a time when a stigma around video games and gaming presumably blinded many to the beauty of the music written for games - it was known to a niche audience. Thankfully the medium has gained much wider acceptance now and there's more awareness of just how good game a lot of game music is.
wonderful my friend. this is real music. thank you for putting in so much work - it's resulted in countless hours of others' enjoyment. take care and keep making music
@@Firemasterlucky5 they are stitched together songs that I have released. Some of the tracks are Patreon requests. I just found this video now and I wish I found it SOONER!~ I love the sound from your guitar. I know nothing about the guitar, only piano, so I have no idea what brand it is, but THE SOUND IS BEAUTIFUL! I love the change in the background and environment view with each song! Lovely playing and your technical skills are wonderful! Not to mention the songs you picked are beautiful on the guitar
Hold. The f, I've been practicing guitar and by chance this happens in my auto playlist. This performance and you get like... only this much views? Holy shit bro O_O And yes along with the others. Please don't ever quit, you make it sound absolutely amazing O_O
Ohhhh mannn you did 2AM! My favorite track off Animal Crossing Wild World (right behind the cafe theme). I've also done a piano + melodica arrangement of it, along with custom lyrics. The recording was sloppy, but I had fun. It got harder and harder not to comment as the video went on. The Girl Who Stole the Stars was just fantastic, and lots of delightful surprises speckled across the album. Still going through it!
Just put my Fie Fong Wong figure away yesterday. Just because I never owned the game doesnt mean I dont love it. Ever since that demo disk for ps1 came out in 1998 I cant get over the Xenogears. Same goes for most of zelda.
Good morning, my friend. Another day started properly with some beautiful tunes played so justly. Star-stealing girl is one of my personal favorites from Mitsuda. In the process of learning this same arrangement. Anyway, cheers. Edit: I guess it's not quite the same arrangement actually. Either way, beautifully played =)
Hi John, just wanted to mention that there's a space in one of the timestamps in the description, and so that one doesn't work (and also doesn't show up on the video's progress bar). Thanks for the lovely music!
Those Stereo TLM 102 really do a great job. How did you treat your room? What reverb are you using? I really notice the improvements since your first videos. This is the video that got me to subscribe good sir. I LOVE your stuff -- might have to go visit the Patreon. I've got Nathan Mills on my Patreon list too. He has excellent production quality, so that's good company to keep. =)
Yeah, I love those mics, and funny enough there is no treatment to the room I was using. It was carpeted though with lots of junk in it. haha My new studio has acoustic foam everywhere, so I record really dry. I use Altiverb 6 for reverb. I have been trying to make small improvements to everything, but I am still an amateur in most things. And yeah Nathan Mills is dope. Thanks for listening and the support!
Hey, beautiful covers! On your other videos as well. Have you played the games that the music comes from? There's great respect payed to the original music from the way your covers are arranged and played, which makes me think that.
Some I have, some I just really enjoyed the music. Of these in the video, I've played Twilight Princess, Chrono Cross, Super Mario 64, and Secret of Mana.
How long did it take you to get to this level of mastery? Such a phenomenal choice of songs. Edit: also how did you learn the songs? Did you figure them out by ear orr?
I'd say I have some that are beginner-intermediate. Such as Undella Town (Pokemon Black and White), 2 AM (Animal Crossing, and Meet Ilia (LOZ Twilight Princess) which are in this video. Thanks for listening!
Do you her that ? that horrible sound most guittar player do when moving fingers from one note to another ... well i dont hear it here at all !!! masterfull and a true guitar artist i have to say
I don't understand how is this recorded: it's outside and it sounds like it's been recorded in a studio. Can someone please help me, I am so confused! 😢

The algorithm has brought me here. What took it so long. Loved the Chrono Cross tracks, you should do more of them! Your FF stuff is amazing.
I'll likely piece together an album of Chrono Cross in 2022 or 2023. ❤️
Been going through some tough times these days.. Listening to you play these songs feel like being consoled by an old friend. Thank you 💕✨
I'm sorry to hear that. Working on these tunes gives me a similar feeling. Have a great week and take care! ❤
Thank you for the kind words. Your passion is truly healing.

Glad you like it! I would feel so stressed if I didn't have the guitar as an outlet. Have a good one!

No matter how many times I listen to this set, whenever "A Wish" from Secret of Mana comes on, I have to stop whatever I am doing.
Amazing cover especially for chrono cross.
I want to play like you one day in the future
Need more of these medleys!
More on the way. I'm going to try and do two a year.

What area are you shooting these videos in? It looks familiar to me. Reminds me of Arizona. :)
Something about your acoustic cover of "Once Upon a Time" from Undertale sounds a bit reminiscent of "Hollow Skies" from Final Fantasy VII Remake.
Are these tabbed out some where? I would love to learn some of these covers you do
Yep! All of these are on my Patreon. Have a good one and thanks for listening!
Awesome. How about some from The Witcher games?
nice
What parts of Arizona are these videos filmed in? I myself live near North Phoenix just north of Anthem Arizon
Sick! Most of these are less than an hour from Phoenix. This one was at Kiwanis Park in Tempe.
Play riptide next plz😁
Do you have any covers that are beginner friendly or are the tabs geared towards mostly intermediate/advanced guitarists? P.S. Love the music!

have you ever played something from Tomb raider?
Not yet. I haven't heard the OST since I was a kid.
