Whymper Rock Climb - Blue Mountains. 145m, Grade 19.

  • Izaac Blomley and I tackling an intermediate, but hard for us, multi pitch rock climb in the Blue Mountains, Australia.
    It's a grade 19 which means there's there were bits of overhung wall we had to tackle.

    3:10 was that a misclip? should have clipped the other way right?

      Ha, probably. Very exposed and pumpy climb, I probably back clipped.

    I wanna do this climb, but I'm a bit scared of the first 40m 19graded climb... I'm not very good on endurance. Do you think it's ok? Or it really gets pumpy? Nice video!

      Thanks. First pitch is quite steep but it's pretty juggy.
      It's very well bolted, just have a few rests if you pump out.

    What's the point of using your own plates ?

      It's a weird Aussie thing. Just the way some climbs are bolted. The climbs I've bolted, I've used glue in U bots. We have a bender and can make bolts for less than a $1 each. They were smart where they put the carrot bolts on this climb, only in the easier parts.
