This video leaves out a lot of context. 1. Klay has always started the season poorly 2. Klay has barely played with Luka and Kyrie due to injuries so he has been forced into creating for himself which is the absolute last thing he should be doing. 3. When Klay played with Luka, Luka was playing poorly resulting in no doubles due to a lack of gravity 4. During games, Klays defender has been forced to guard him so tightly you fully negate any help from that defender (watch the games) 5. and most importantly, his defence has been very good in spite of all of these things. He has OVERPERFORMED expectations if you actually understand what is going on when you watch a game rather than ball go in hoop good
you are right that Luka has started the year off slow making it harder for Klay Thompson my only thing is that klay’s season has been filled with inconsistency where he’ll have a really good game and then a terrible one in my opinion leaving GSW was a bad decision for his legacy in the best case scenario the mavs win a championship even in that situation that championship doesn’t mean as much if he stuck with it in Golden State and won a chip
When the Dubs were tearing up the league, going 73-9 or sitting the starters for the entire 4th quarter, a slow Klay start was irrelevant. But the league is more balanced now, so a slow Klay start costs his team games they will have to make up in the standings. And, given his age, the "start" of the season when he is playing poorly may be getting longer and longer.
