This game is incredible. It's one of my favorite strat games ever. The AI will 100% take advantage of your mistakes. I've gotten my ass kicked numerous times in this by the AI. I'm no pro , but I've been playing strategy games for years. This is one of the best AI I've seen.
I'm glad I picked this game up last week. For 30 bucks it's worth it imo. Gives you the chance to play our all those overhead battles with lines of soldiers represented by red and blue blocks just like what I used to watch on the history channel.
I can barely see the shooting arc on my game, yet it really stands out in this video. That said this is an awesome game, so looking forward to the new game that's currently in production can't wait for it to release
I really enjoyed this game and return to it at times, but often I dropped out for extended periods of time, because almost all the missions felt like I'm in a massive hurry to just rush to the objectives and was left feeling that I'm just forced to suicide rush my troops without having much time to think about the terrain, scout my opponents positions or weak points, etc. I was almost always playing as the confederates and had a near constant lack of troops or funds and being forced by a cramped map into an overwhelming enemy position with a predetermined kill zone. As an underdog side I'd really wanted to feel like I'd have some control over where and when I commit my troops, trying to unbalance the enemy position with feint attacks or threatening key points, but no I was always just in a huge rush to get to an arbitrary point on a small map against a superior force. But the graphics, sounds and general game mechanics are indeed amazing! Great concept and try, but these repetitive Sisyphus missions kinda killed the experience for me.
@@marinewillis1202 Thank you for a recommend. I did think about it, but haven't had much time to try it out, and kinda been waiting for the bugs to be fixed and gameplay improvements too on that one.
I hope that they would build on this game, take this as it is and give it a larger scale like grand tactician, but don't change how it looks ya know just add in some more of the micro, not to much. I may consider running this game now again. Thanks for doing the vod.
This game is wonderful I hope they do another civil war game. Any hard-core players in here I would recommend UI and AI Customizations mod, it adds range indicators for artillery and done some small balance changes that makes the game so much better.
Best Civil War game out there but I wish they had Multi player. I also wish someone would pick this up and keep it up to date. Not that it is bad now but just to keep it updated.
I got a bit tired of the auto-balancing system which constantly rendered your victories pyrrhic by boosting the AI forces artificially. It keeps the game challenging but makes the battles pointless. Having said that it kept me occupied for 164 hours, so I can't complain that I didn't get my money's worth, but in the end I finished a campaign and just thought 'Why the hell am I bothering?' and walked away. By comparison, my time spent on Empire Totalwar just topped 4,250 hours. That kind of says it all really. It would be nice if the battles on Totalwar were as challenging as UGCW, but the game is let down by its lack of a real strategic campaign.
I'm not 100% on this, but if you play the medium difficulty there is less of an autobalance. I did my first Union playthrough where by Gettysburg I had a 2 to 1 majority to the confederates. This may have changed in a patch, but just my observation.
@@KHarling Haven't played it myself yet, but seems very promising indeed. I read a bunch of critiques about the bugs and lack of polish, and clunky mechanics, but also in an article I read in a Finnish game magazine, they said they were trying actively to fix these key issues. How is it going do you know?
Keep it up! You care and have a passion. Own it. Everything beyond this is my criticism. Which is worthless. Also not a fan of total war either. Maybe this game ain't for me. Right scripts. Show more of what you say. (Skills etc. This can happen, so show it..) Big this game up. It's good right? So show it.
A game that runs easy, is beautiful, and so strategic
Yeah the art style of this game is perfect. It runs great on potato PCs.

You would probably love Grand Tactician the Civil War.

agreed the games great but the timer system ruins it a lot
Looks pretty cool, I'm a big TW fan, thanks for the video.
The guy who made this had some of the best AI mods for the old Total War games which is why its so good
what mod is?
@@LViktorGameplay DarthMod iirc

Appreciate you shouting this game out!

I think this game is the best black powder tactics game out there. Very good AI. The biggest flaw is that there is no two player mode.
This game is absolutely fuckin' amazing.
Good video, this game is great. Subbed.
i am right now enjoying this game!! and i grew up on rome total war, aoe 2... it is great!!

Promotion is needed for a multiplayer to be implemented, and that will be ❤️❤️
OMG just good times i play this in 2018 :(
I have over 400 hours so far in this game. I love it.
Awesome game for sure. Check out Grand Tactician The Civil War 1861-1865 it will blow your mind.
Thanks, I'll give it a try as it looks like a more simulation version of Ultimate General!
@@thethebangamer994 It is in a word the best ACW game ever made bar none, imyo.
@@KHarling and it's made by a tiny hobby team from Finland! Makes it even more impressive how they weren't really professional game developers.

It’s a fantastic game!
yes great game
you kept saying the AI is putting up a fight whilst none of their units were moving at all.. lmao
Ya good game
They need to add mobile
Hidden? Where have you been champ? Any historical gamer has played this game.
