The Worlds Fair Park is used a lot during the Summer months. There are festivals, out door concerts, etc. The Sun Sphere is open for parties. You can rent it. In the warm months its a very beautiful part of Knoxville. Your video and the music make it look like some post apocalyptic ghost town.
I was six when I visited the World's Fair with my family. I distinctly remember seeing the windmill that looked something like an egg beater, which is shown at 3:00 and following.
I remember eating there I guess it was during the fair, maybe shortly after. It was a fancy restaurant and I remember a plaque that the place was managed by Hardees, the fast food franchise. It wasn't burgers, but I still remember it cause it seemed odd, still does.
I attended with a girlfriend and her young son. We stayed in a mountain cabin that was old and a big disappointment. Funny .. I can remember the old cabin but cannot remember anything about he fair. Perhaps I was hoping for something like the 1964 worlds fair in New York that I attended as a kid.
@@TheMrPeteChannel no, it's been empty since the fair. Nobody can ever figure out what to do with it, so it just sits there empty. The only good it does is to let you know you're in downtown Knoxville if you can see it lol.

Excelent video, I was look about the fair in a The Simpsons episode, and I search about it, and finaly find this good video XD
Strange to think that the Sun Sphere is now home to thousands of boxes of unsold wigs
jajajajaja
They didn’t mention anything about the wigs
Wod's Fir?!?
I was there and took pictures with my Brownie Hawkeye camera, which I still have to this day!
I was at the Knoxville World’s fair in 1982 from Arizona.

I was there in 1982 and i was only 15. The best food served there was at the Korean, Japanese and Chinese pavilions.
I was there twice. I was expecting something bigger like what I had heard about the New York World’s Fair. It really was just ok.
what do you expect from a small city honestly. they were in for too much
Are you gentlemen gonna buy some wigs er ain'tcha?

Wod Fir?
interesting seeing this after watching the Simpsons episode on the world’s fair
I believe it's the "Wod Fir."
What a weird history, I walk around this area a few times a week. Nice video
Sunsphere was knocked over by Nelson in the 90s
Of course now days the sun sphere just contains wigs
They need to put lots of things of the fair there. Big history for knoxville.
@@boomy776 yeah that would be nice.

Bueno, van a comprar una peluca o no?
I thought the sun sphere was knocked over by some kids.
That chinaman working on the Great Wall in the commercial looked like Chairman Mao.
WO D' F IR
They built the Sunsphere on the lowest spot in downtown so you can't really see much from up top lol.
Is it filled with wigs?

this fair looks like a big disappointment. If you want to see a winner, look up "something is happening here" the 1986 Vancouver world's fair.
Or world expo 88 in Brisbane Australia with the theme song “together We’ll show the world”
Look on the bright side, I knocked over the Suns Sphere! Ha ha Nelson Muntz
Ahora solo venden pelucas :(
