I'm in the process of leveling it because of the hats. there are lots of stuffs that come into consideration when leveling forager. Basically, the more actions you do, the more knowledge you get but it's not true for everall xp. Stuffs that are too low level can be skipped actually. Haven't found a guide yet, but I tempered with this route with great success over time, for example I do 9 limplets per run and drop some stuffs in the middle of the lap but I do miss some collectibles (wrack and nettles) which will definitely have impacts on my rotations. There are similar grinds with mining(2 stones at the same place) and gathering + woodcutting. I never gather bones without inserting some woodcutting for instance. At lvl59, you unlock a new wallplant tier, it is slower than doing the circle method ^^'.
It's honestly pretty negligible. It comes down to whether you prioritize more Forager XP per hour or more resources to use later. Here's some rough math: At level 18, gathering a Wrinkled Starfish gives 141 XP, while a Brown Kelp gives 84 XP. If you drop a Kelp and use a +5% XP potion for 2/3 of your run (a lap takes about 3 minutes), the extra XP gained would only be around 105 if the rest of your run were entirely Wrinkled Starfish. So, 105 (from the potion) - 84 (from kelp) = 21 XP gained, max. And at 20 laps per hour, that's only 420 XP. Meh. Is that "21 XP" worth the coins spent on the potion and losing out on an extra resource per lap? Numbers will scale up as you level obviously, so it's probably something worth reconsidering every once in a while. I appreciate the question, thank you! 😁
Respectfully, wouldn’t be done to 500. After 200 you need to be a bit more anal about what you’re picking specifically as the exp drop off from some of the older stuff is rather bad. Up to the high 100’s this is really good though. The profession is really amazing honestly, you’re constantly changing your route very slightly as you level which you did mention when you were talking about the hogberries.
I appreciate the feedback and will work on changing the thumbnail and anywhere else that mentions "to 500". I really don't want to be misleading. Thank you! Edit: Done
Awesome, really grinding out the levels now! Thanks!
Respectfully, you are a pro.
Subbed!

Do you think it's more efficient to use an XP pot tho, and skip one of the gathers?
