Sha'an don't be ashamed for crying or feeling bad about the health situation and the lead up to it. We are taught to minimise the impact we make on others and the services we use.
I go in and out of the ER a lot in specific instructions from my neurologist because my migraines present as strokes. And I still think I'm being dumb.
My advice to anyone when seeking emergency health care is try and think how you would advocate for someone you love, or a pet. If you feel unwell enough that you think you need to see a doctor immediately you should go. You are not the problem.
We are not all doctors and we can only do our best. Please, please don't be hard on yourself because at the end of the day you got help and you're doing better.

I started tearing up when you talked about the asthma attack and how you were rushed before the others in the ER. I've had a similar experience. I had asthma attacks when I was younger but never remembered them... until I had one as an adult. I remember not being able to walk because I just couldn't breathe and I started crying and panicking. Once my mom got me to the ER the nurse I had said "why are you crying you're too old to cry" and I couldn't even defend myself because I literally couldn't breathe! Some nurses are just too numb in the ER.
I'm so glad you had someone who was comforting because having an asthma attack sounds simple but it is so scary. ❤️❤️ I hope you're feeling better and that anxiety has lowered now!

Also I suggest wearing a mask and taking allergy pills when you clean ! Dust can cause asthma to act up sometimes. ( consult your doc ;) )

If you're in Australia and aren't sure if you need a doctor, call healthdirect and have a free chat with a nurse! It's a government funded service that not everyone knows about, but they can tell you how soon you need to see someone and if you should go to the ER (and give you advice on treatment if it's not an emergency)

I’ve only watched half of this so far but I’m already getting teary-eyed listening to your experience. And I work in assisted-living with seniors, and I know what it’s like when people are alone especially during Covid when they couldn’t have anybody with them at the hospital and I think you’re amazingly brave And your reaction to everything is perfectly normal so please don’t beat yourself up over it. You’re awesome.

As a nurse, thank you for your support to our profession! I've had a same experience but mine was only a mild lung contusion from falling while skating (no SOB or anything like that so I got lucky)! I'm glad you received swift treatment. Right now, in our Canadian province, ER are closing down across smaller cities/towns due to the pressures on the healthcare system by the pandemic which is pretty scary.

Thank you for the update Sha'an. So glad to hear you are doing okay! I totally agree with you in regards to nurses...they are they superhero's of the world! I had my first operation ever at the start of this year...I was so terrified...but due to the kindness, dedication and love of the nurses at the hospital I was at...the whole experience was a very good one.
Loved seeing you sitting on the couch with Tonka...super cute. Good luck with the packing and move, hope it goes well...and congratulations on your property!!! It is a huge step in life...hope you guys are celebrating!

This was a really emotional video to watch! I was in the hospital earlier this year with a collapsed lung and it brought all those scared feelings back. Any breathing problems are terrifying so crying and panicking are totally normal reactions to that. The nurses I saw were amazing as well. They are so good at being supportive and calming people down. They really need a pay rise! ❤

don’t feel bad about not realizing how bad things were at first. I had a massive pulmonary embolism in February. Thought it was just allergies making my asthma flare up a bit, and called my pulmonologist for advice when my inhaler didn’t work and my oxygen started to drop a bit. He told me to go to the hospital. By the time I made it to the car, my oxygen saturation had begun to drop drastically. I started going in and out of consciousness. My mom had to call for an ambulance. It’s really easy to miss the symptoms of something serious when they are almost identical to those of something less serious that you have already experienced multiple times before.
A suggestion for you moving forward: Buy a pulse oximeter if you don’t already have one and keep it on hand to use any time you are having trouble breathing. That way you will be able to better determine how bad things are.

I would definitely cry in that situation as well :(( it's so scary being in the hospital because an ordinary person doesn't know how serious their situation is and our mind takes us to the most extreme places. Oh, I am so glad you are okay! Crying and being scared is completely normal, nothing to be ashamed about, I would have cried if the doctor told me to go to the hospital too! Doctors are amazing but sometimes I think they forget that, they know it will all be okay, but when they tell you what is wrong, that info gets swished around with all the ‘concerns’, ‘worrying about being ill’ , ‘worrying about wasting time’, and all the ‘unknowns’, that your amazing brain came up with before you spoke to them - and that is A LOT! And also… Congratulations on buying your own place, that is amazing and so exciting, I can’t wait to see the unpacking 💕

I'm so happy your are feeling better and got the help!!
I been the ER many times for POTS and have super horrible veins because my blood stays in my feet. So I've gotten feet IVs before.
The best method of getting veins to pop up is too have a heat pad/heated blankets on for 15-20 minutes and to use butterfly needles for babies.
Also when you're going to the er or blood work if you're able too, drink something with high sodium or electrolytes.

I have two asthmatic kids (7 & 3) and this year, in particular, has been absolutely BRUTAL on their asthma. Every single cold has turned into an asthma flare. We've spent more time at RPA this year alone than ever before combined. It's so so so scary, as a parent especially, when it has to do with difficulty breathing.

Sha'an what a scary experience. I am glad everything worked out ok. I really hope you see this message. I have had severe Eczema my whole life (so bad I used to have to get shots in my fingers). I FINALLY found a brilliant doctor who basically cured it using light therapy. I have a light table that I put my hands (or any area I'm breaking out) on it for about a minute every other day until it clears up. The light table was very expensive so a free way to try it to see if it will work for you is to sit out in the sun for about 15 minutes every other day (use sunscreen so you don't burn if you need to) and see if it clears it up.

As someone who also has tiny evasive veins, in the future apply a heat pack to the inner elbow area, it draws the veins up to the surface, and drinking a LOT of water makes them bigger
Nurses/doctors digging around for veins and bruising in you in the process is really traumatic, I feel for you. It’s hard to not be stressed when people keeping swapping and saying that they can’t find your veins

Dearest Sha'an, I'm so glad you're feeling better and had a chance to rest after such a scary asthma episode. You probably already know all about the link between asthma, eczema and inflammation/autoimmune issues but if you don't, or none of your MDs have ever mentioned it to you, it might be helpful to get tested for autoimmune disorders. Obvi, I'm just a stranger on the internet but one of my besties struggled with some of the same issues for years before
someone suggested she get tested. Once she was diagnosed, she was able to make some basic changes in diet, lifestyle and meds and her health has improved 100%. She feels sooo much better now. I hope you feel better too. Thanks so much for your videos and for sharing so much of your life with us! (And I agree, nurses are AMAZING for what they do.)

You can call healthdirect next time as well! They’re really helpful with judging if you should go to the hospital or gp and any advice in the meantime

Literally only 2 minutes in but that first bit totally felt like a montage from an early 2000’s movie. Idk it made me super happy and nostalgic. What camera did you use?

Whhhooppp nurse gang!!! Also I have asthma too ! I actually took my inhaler too much too instead of going to the ER and it caused a panic attack, it was the worst. I also have eczema both things are related to stress and allergies 🤧

It’s ok to reuse some prompts too. Please don’t feel like you have to reinvent the wheel. Pick a fave from each of the other years you’ve done it.

I wish I had been there. I’d of given you a neb or hits from my inhaler. I know what it’s like. I’m sorry you went through that to find out. 😞🤗
I’m happy things worked out in the long run and they diagnosed correctly. Can I say to you that Dupixent changed my life! It s a monthly shot and they teach you to administer it yourself. I can be around kitties and even live with them now, and ragweed doesn’t kill me every year now and I don’t have asthma attacks anymore.
