Based on the song name, tone, and the fact that Hakita usually puts a unique twist on the layers of Hell, here's my prediction. Violence is a quiet wasteland, covered in ruined fortifications, barbed wire, and ash (the world looks white). The battle is over. The war has already happened. This is just the ending.
Maybe, or maybe 7-1 is an attempt to hold the violence back, keep it down and the lower in the violence layer you get it becomes more bloody, more destructive. I view the picture as a sign that V1 is getting closer to what's down there in the lowest point of hell and that's why there are weirder and weirder demons showing up, imperfect, made unsightly for IT's amusement
i dunno much about what violence is about but my imagination was more like violence beinv a kind of peaceful sombre place because that would be a great sort of punishment... and also maybe violence gives you harder but less enemies because then you'll have less opportunities for blood and you'll just slowly lose more and more of those opportunities and you as v1 eventually dies or something idk
I mean, there's the whole insurrection against heaven, which was already fought and lost long before V1 shows up, so the idea of Violence being just the aftermath of the war works really well.
Wow. For the *VIOLENCE* layer, this sounds really melancholic, and almost kind of tragic. Really makes you think of what happened to the City of Dis in Ultrakill's universe. Something tells me this layer is going to feel sadder than the Lust layer. *Edit:* The City of Dis isn't just in P-2. It is basically all of the last four layers from Heresy to Treachery.
@@Storse It will end with the biggest ULTRAKILL of them all: Hell (and who knows, maybe Heaven) itself. (all jokes of course, but yeah. I feel Ultrakill will have a bittersweet ending at best, though I'm not sure where the "sweet" part would come in.)
That is the point of the violence layer, the world is almost entirely white, meaning that the blood YOU spill will be very pronounced, Halifax said over discord that “it isn’t supposed to be about everyone’s violence, it is YOUR violence”
I like how with every WIP song preview Hakita puts out, it goes hard, then when the final version gets put out, it’s just as great. Fantastic work Hakita!
A Shattered Illusion is Hell’s way of mocking you, treating you like a joke. Dune Eternal is Hell starting to see you as a threat, taking you somewhat seriously. But this? This is Hell realizing it’s in a war. *And it’s losing.*
notice how this is the only layer in the game that uses a music box so far, every other song that has used it has only been apart of the gabe cutscenes or the fire is gone (music box ver), i can tell that layer 7 is gonna mean some SERIOUS business. also this goes hard for no damn reason for a WIP theme
Wow, just wow. For a game like ULTRAKILL I imagined Violence's music as this harsh cacophony of pandemonium, disorder and well, violence, almost like the Prelude in a sense. Never would I have expected this beautiful symphony of sorrow and dread. I heard somebody say that V1 is not ULTRAKILL's main character, and I feel Act 3 will have no trouble getting that through our heads. This song alone really puts into perspective how unfathomably tragic ULTRAKILL's world is. Mankind is dead, condemned to hell to suffer endless torture. Their tormentor, hell itself, is alive, and does what it does for entertainment alone. God, disgusted by what he has created, be it mankind, hell, or both, has vanished, leaving the Heavens in chaos. Act 3 will no doubt take a very dark turn. Hell will begin to show its true colors and the veil of being this unstoppable force capable of demolishing everything in its wake will finally be lifted. One word to describe how I'm feeling about Act 3 would be terrified. You've created a masterpiece Hakita. I can't wait to see what the conclusion to ULTRAKILL's story will be.
V1 is the protagonist, but make no mistake He's not the hero He's simply a monument to the sins of mankind, and what was once seemed like a quirky violent quest to slay the evil in hell has all but revealed its true colors V1's quest is not noble nor heroic, but it's not exactly evil or wrong At the end of the day, V1 is essentially just... a creature of steel, and when a creature is hungry... it hunts.... it kills. Same for every machine that descended into hell Perhaps there actually is more to V1 than we know about.. perhaps there's a reason beyond blood, but until then, All we know is that a robot apocalypse is destroying the last of all remaining life in the universe, the closest thing this story has to a hero, Gabriel the Angel, is mere hours away from death, and the primordial evil behind it all, seems to only want to enjoy the death and destruction, even if it means it's own demise.... There are many ways this story could end....... but not a single one that can avoid tragedy
@@puhteeah4876 In Dante's Inferno, Heresy is the starting point to where sinners are actually being tortured rather than just suffering. If that is what is setting the mood for the rest of the game (to an extent) I feel the rest of the game will be pretty intense. I don't see why Violence can't be overwhelming as well as sad.
Ultrakill is one of the most impressive art piece in form of a videogame I have ever seen, you can feel its heart beating in every level, in every music. Hakita I will always be impressed of what you are capable of. As a musician who tries to write music, i find your music to be enchanting, and i always will have it close to my heart as one of my most beloved influences. I could go for hours about how you take a simple theme/melody and turn it into a whole idea/topic, about how you basically created a palette of colors for our ears to enjoy. I think Ultrakill should not be viewed as just a fast-paced fps game, but as a symphony of memories, a twisted view of our deepest wonders, and as much as i love playing it, i still remember how it felt the first time I played. And I felt like I was cheating life, i know i go far here, but i was truly immersed into that world, i forgot to drink, eat and even blink. I fell in love with your work and I know it's not much from a guy at the other side of the world, but you filled my heart with motivation and you planted a little seed in my mind that still grows to this day, and i wonder how could I live without trying to create something that sparked a passion in others like your game did for me. Thank you for all your hard work and sacrifices, i salute you from the bottom of my heart, you started a fire in my heart that cannot extinguish, and I will try my best to write music all my life, you are one of my greatest inspirations, thank you for your game
I’m gonna have to agree, this games a lot more then a fast paced fps game, although that element of it is cool. It’s world and it’s music are genuinely interesting as well. This is why I don’t think this game is just “scuffed Doom” cause while they have similarities they are two different games with 2 different styles.
super excited to see the overall aesthetic of this layer. judging by the vibe of the music, I'm thinking it's going to be some sort of grand palace or mansion populated by demons and husks with a great contrast between luxury and torment, with some rooms being designed as living spaces, and others designed for torture and punishment for the sinners
This only gets worse considering the first time I listened to this song was while reading about Cardiac Tamponade. Which is basically your heart rupturing, and now blood is constricting your heart, limiting how much blood can be pumped. Your heart, trying to keep you alive in spite of this, is pumping faster and faster, in a move of desperation that's almost saddening.
i just fucking imagined, since hell is an "sentient organism" what is 9-2 or smth will be like a battle against hell itself? idk how to describe it but yeah
The "Silence. Introspection" instruments in the first part are an interesting touch. Can't wait to see if gabriel himself joins in on the action while you fight through the layer
@@verysadboi8517 Angels and demons will probably make up the bulk of new enemies from now on. Not only from a lore standpoint does it make sense, those are the two types of enemies who have only a few variants in the game compared to others like the husk family.
What if the ending was like "Congratulations, you killed everyone in hell and now there is no more blood left" and V1 eventually dies. Like an empty ending, having fulfilled your objective and now there is nothing left
@@alternative7586 I can definitely see that being an ending Maybe a "happy" part of it could be that plant life could now reclaim earth? But we don't know how badly the machines destroyed earth in their thirst for blood.
My theory os the ending will be that you beat gabriel, then a door opens, and its just a long hallway. In the hallway theres only a few filth who you obliterate. You keep walking down until the screen slowly fades to black, and then when its all black, its just a bunch of like numbers and stuff saying like [V1] ENERGY - 0 > BLOOD - 0 Something like that of course its be a lot better but like the code style we see in the intro, thatd be sick i think
GOT DAMN!!!!! The World Looks White is straight out of a horror game, and The World Looks Red feels like a more broken-down and less angry reprieve of Altars of Apostasy, almost like hell itself is starting to give up and try to take you down with it; amazing stuff as usual Edit: Sorry I don't have anything meaningful to add except Holy Shit . I keep coming back to this video and The World Looks Red still gives me chills every time I hear it, it sounds like a funeral march but somehow desperate and almost tragically triumphant--it's just a personal interpretation but I really like imagining V1 almost feeling regret over their selfish death crusade but not enough to stop, because they know there's no alternative......fuck me the Ultrakill soundtrack really is all bangers
"The World Looks Red" sounds like the feeling of desperately trying. The feeling of dread is immense. The all knowing feeling that both Hell AND Heaven are collapsing. Everything already IS in ruins. But this is the end, THE end. Everything will collapse and all that will be left is ash. Trying to get it all together, knowing it will all end. The drama and sheer INFLUENCE of the song is honestly overwhelming, But thats the POINT. It's honestly beautiful, thank you hakita.
I really do like the idea that once he got past Gluttony and defeated Gabriel, Hell realized the extent of the threat V1 poses to it, leading to all the increased resistance/more modified Husks being the result of Hell growing more desperate to stop V1.
It actually sounds like it's a variation on the Requiem/Minos Prime leitmotif already, which makes me even more excited if that turns out to be the case
I don't think it will, because we have gotten a prime soul for the second layer of an act and for first layer of an act, Which leads me to believe that the 3rd layer of act 3 will have a leitmotif for the third prime sanctum.
Idea: a lack of enemies is a prevalent theme in upcoming rooms. Like, sure, enough for a challenge, but the rooms are large and empty--like there's supposed to be more than there are present. P-3: THERE'S NOBODY HERE ...and there he is. Nobody. Odysseus Prime.
That finale was magnificent The entire time it feels like this slow build up to some explosive conclusion but instead its this almost manic and feverish heartbeat. I always expect heavy guitar shrieks and drums but the humbling organs really do help illustrate just how deep we've gone. No longer is it the shallow upper echelons of hell, for now we are decending upon Madness and Sin itself. Hakita you always outdue yourself and memes aside i hope you know how much the community loves this game. From the Art, Gameplay, Music and Lore you really created a masterpiece
if that picture turns out to be an actual enemy in the violence layer, that would be some combination of awesome and terrifying. the combat music gives the vibe that the enemies in violence would be the sort that have turned their sin into an art form- with more methodical attacks that hit like a truck. At least that's the feel I get from it.
Honestly from the colour and how it looks segmented i imagine it's one of those bone segment things from hideous mass and leviathan,.cant wait to see the abomination that this thing will be in full
In Dante's Inferno, the layer of violence consists of all forms of brutality separated into their own sections- those against nature/art/god, those around you, and... yourself. Perhaps this is why The World Looks White sounds the way it does- feelings of utter hopelessness and resignation. Those looking for an escape from unfathomably dire situations were only met with damnation. Then there's The World Looks Red... Maybe this is some twisted kind of "hope" that the husks feel upon seeing V1- as a means of relief from the punishment they're destined to receive. I expect that enemies- particularly husks- could be practically throwing themselves at you, as they only hope to die in the process. At least that's what I deduce from the preview. With Violence having multiple sections, however, I don't think this will be *all* there is of this layer. Can't wait to hear the complete version ingame!
The World Looks White/Red might very well be an interpretation of worldviews, White symbolises purity, and in this case, the absence of something, most likely hope. It is truly saddening, but when a shift takes place towards the "Red" we are only left to feel dread as it symbolises passion, a passion for blood, death, a macabre form of hope shown by the husks as they want to escape the White torment of Hell.
YES, SOMEONE ELSE GETS IT!! tbh i never considered the names to mean much lol, it makes so much sense tho my idea was, personally, that the first three levels would be the three sections, and the fourth takes place in the third section as well (which iirc the order is self → others → god/nature), it makes sense in my head (but idk what hakita's gonna do for the areas w/ like a dozen sections, alla trechery)
i personally think V1's punishment is just running out of fuel since after he kills every being in hell for blood, he'd probably move onto heaven and do the same there, and after doing all that, he just switches off for all eternity.
You have big shoes to fill after the incredible first two acts of Ultrakill, but I KNOW you will succeed in making something incredible. I have nothing but pure excitement and anticipation for Act 3. Keep at it!
@@Vestige_ nah the people developing the game isn’t just hakita and Pitr, layer 7 will most likely release this year and next year will be fraud and treachery most likely
An incredibly unexpected direction for the VIOLENCE layer's music and aesthetic, and a welcome one at that. Always super impressed by your creativity. Looking forward to seeing more of Act 3!
I think the battle in Violence has already happened; we're just seeing the aftermath. The white ash all over the place. The spilled, red blood on the soil. The ruins of the middle City of Dis (remember, it stretches from heresy to treachery in the divine comedy)
@@Mushroom38294 I'm actually not going to assume it's got white ash or anything, I could honestly see it starting in the forest from the Gabriel cutscene at the end of act 2. Violence supposedly held a forest for people who committed suicide, and honestly, the music fits that somber tone. I'm waiting to see what Hakita does, since he's constantly subverting my expectations.
Wow, I like how Godfist Suicide sounds so far! This W.I.P really captures the hopelessness and melancholy of the final act. V1 is on a one-way trip, and the end of the road is fast approaching…
M A C H I N E Ultrakill is unlike any other game I've played for multiple reasons and I can't begin to express how excited I am for part 3. And it's the little tidbits like this, a track here, a mechanic video there, that keep me hyped. Keep up the good work Hakita!
I can EASILY say ultrakill is the best game i've played, genuienly. At first, the game didn't seem that cool and pretty eh, saw Markiplier gameplay but decided to skip it after like five minutes. I kept ignoring and pretty much being uninterested in ultrakill, until one day i decided to watch P-2 and HOOOLY it went HARD. I started watching all the levels in gameplays, they looked incredibly awesome. BUT, after buying the game and experiencing it, i fucking loved it more, the game felt genuienly exciting and fun, literally even the p ranks, one of the games i like a lot too is Pizza Tower, but the p ranks were frustrating and did not like them, in ultrakill the p ranks felt extremely fun and satisfactory, even levels like P-2 it's just too fun, and the cybergrind MAN, the first time i played it, i genuienly felt like i was dreaming. Hearing The World Looks Red, makes me think, no, REALIZE this game is an actual masterpiece, a single piece can make me feel emotional in a way i didn't think it was possible, and the depth of the music, the gameplay, the lore, EVERYTHING is so good, i genuienly think ACT 3 is going to be a masterpiece, sadly this game isn't really recognized, i'd say ULTRAKILL reaches levels of most beloved nintendo games, sony games, etc. BUT, i feel like it's way superior than everything i've seen, it's such a perfect game for me and i hope somenoe else feels about this masterpiece of a game. ULTRAKILL is my ecstasy.
The World Looks White is like the introspection that comes with the weight of coming to terms with commiting Violence, especially since, as opposed to most of the other layers that dealt with losing control of yourself, the guilt that comes with deliberate infliction of harm and corruption beats the guilt of incontinence any day of the week. I can't put into words how grateful I am to this game for exposing Dante's Inferno, and the poet in general, to me, and seeing Hakita's interpretations of all the layers thus far has been fun. I'm looking forward to the trees, personally.
@evanblue5591 white with bones? Remmants of those long lost Write with ash? Remnants of a passionate fire slowly dying Write with snow? A grim reminder of what awaits at the frozen abyss of hell
I fucking love the prospect of the deepest layers of hell being horrible in weird, surreal and utterly bleak ways. Heresy was amazing. The aesthetic of "evil cathedral" worked absolutely perfectly but where do you go from there? What could be more horrifying than the divine, working to destroy you? I have faith in hakita making this weird and fucked up video game as good as it can be
It's crazy how I can play an fps that makes you feel like a badass, and still get genuinely disturbed by it in the out of place horror sections. The first time fighting the mannequins, I physically jumped because of how unnervingly fast they move
I feel like the phrase "Mankind is Dead, Blood is Fuel, Hell is Full" Will end as "Heaven is Out, Blood is Gone, Hell is Empty", and if so. Oh god i'm surely waiting for it.

Man. I keep telling myself to take a break from everything Ultrakill until the full game releases so I can enjoy it in it’s full glory, but I just can’t help myself when Hakita drops a teaser for the ACT I’ve been most hyped for. I gotta find a new hobby asap so I’m not too skilled for the game when it releases. This song sounds so melancholic, and also gives me horror theme park vibes which gives a good idea of what this layer, and to an extent the entire ACT will be like. Horrifically, terrifyingly brutal. Bring it baby.
In a world where darkness casts its spell, Where shadows gather, where hope is quelled, Two colors emerge, stark and profound, The world looks white, the world looks red, a somber ground. The world looks white, a frigid abyss, Frozen landscapes whispering loneliness. Blanketed in ice, the echoes of despair, A chilling reminder of dreams ensnared. Beneath the facade of this wintry domain, Lies isolation, hearts numb with pain. White, the absence of life's vibrant hue, A desolate canvas, where dreams bid adieu. The world looks red, a torrent of strife, A tapestry woven with threads of life. Scarlet rivers flowing, staining the land, A testament to battles fought, hand in hand. Red speaks of anguish, of wounds unhealed, Of sacrifices made, of truths concealed. A crimson symphony of violence and dread, A haunting reminder of blood that's been shed. Within this dichotomy, shadows dance, A world trapped in a relentless trance. White and red, the colors collide, A reflection of humanity's divided stride. In this tapestry of sorrow and pain, Where white and red bleed and intertwine, We grapple with darkness, we bear its weight, In a world that's lost, consumed by its fate.
If you look at Gabriel's helm you can see that the holes are positioned near the bottom of the face the face depicted here has eyes near the bottom of the face the small cross extending from Gabriel's helmet also could be used to make space for the nose and mouth as it lines up really well edit : after reading replies, i noticed the guy that said that angels and other inhabitants of hell have lost their eyes however, as mentioned virtues assigned to guarding hell for some reason have no eyes. Gabriel probably had eyes before, hence the holes in the helmet, then he was assigned as a judge of hell, losing the eyes, leaving the holes useless. Oh and the face here has eyes opened and you can clearly see it doesn't have the eyeballs themselves TL,DR of the edit : guy said things in hell lose eyes i say that the face has eyes, but no eyeballs, basically no eyes Oh and also i agree with the other guy saying that it looks like a new demon, as it really fits the designs of the levi and the H-Mass
With these new WIP tracks, my guess for Violence is that it's going to be a very similar vibe to Lust and Wrath, where any sense of being lived in is long gone. Everyone is drained of energy and filled with regret over the needless pain inflicted upon one another, leaving only the suffering that comes as an aftermath of brutality. That is, of course, until a funny little GoPro paints the town red ;) Also, 4:55, ORDER version of the Requiem motif anyone?
Wrath is working as intended and never was any different from how it was described in Inferno by Dante. The water formed of sinners on the surface is still going at it with eachother so hard it damages v1, while the depths of it is calm as sinners too wrathful to even act drown until they calm down.
ORDER's leitmotif is definitely there, but in a minor key and with a different rhythm. ORDER goes E, F#, E, G, G, F#, E: it's in E major. The World Looks Red has C, D, Eb, D, C, C, D, Eb, D, Db. It's in C minor, with an off-key note at the end.
now THIS is ultra EDIT: i love the time signature btw, this is one of my favorite time signatures ever so i'm happy to see more songs use it. I can't wait to hear the full thing because this sounds amazing so far, even if its still a midi wip currently. Good luck with 7-1 and take your time! EDIT 2: as someone pointed out and upon 2nd listen this sounds like 4/4 with a lotta triplets, although i still think it's sick
I more specifically see it like the Judge's ending. heaven will still be there, but in shambles. there's a small chance the few that remain may be able to rebuild, but they're working with a world wiped of almost everything
@@uncroppedsoop Heaven looks pretty populated in the end of ACT 2 and i dont think there is a way that v1 will be able to get there since he is only going deeper in hell
The 7th layer is a forest of suicidal people reincarnated into abnormal trees that can feel pain and have emotion. The reason their punishment is so specific is because they tried to escape the burden of pain in life. And thus, their fruits are picked off by harpies causing them immense pain as punishment. Can't wait to see what Hakita interprets the 7th layer as!
That’s not the _only_ thing it has It also has a river of blood If I were a betting man, I’d say it’s gonna be long, long, long dry by the time we see it Perhaps a dying city of machines at the end of the cracked and crackling riverbed. Its ruler, one who held goals not dissimilar to V1’s, whose plans, although perfectly laid, fell woefully short against the unstoppable march of time. A metropolis of steel reduced to a necropolis of rust, damned to cannibalize itself. V1’s journey was not the first, and it, like the one before, is similarly doomed from the very start. It is only here we shall receive confirmation. Or maybe I’ve gotten lost in my own head. Probably that. But speculation is very fun.
@@nechdaught3412 I've always thought of V1 as the sole reason for the collapsing of Limbo, Lust, and Gluttony, soon to follow. He opened the gates past the Guardians of hell The forces that were there post expedition era were likely small, especially after the likely several wars between each other and Hell's Denizens.
The Minotaur appears in Dante’s Inferno in the seventh circle of Hell, where the purveyors of violence are punished. This music fits that perfectly as I could easily imagine Violence being a gigantic white maze with an unkillable Minotaur until 7-4 where you finally get the yellow arm (possibly) Just a thought from listening, I love it.

That cover art is just... so unsettling in the best way. - i'm like a minute in but the music box ebbing in and out is very good -Ooo and the chiming like a clock as the bass builds? - the snare reminds me of the leviathan - scratch that, the whole second half reminds me of leviathan with the more orchestral style -MMM the organ going off! - and then the breakcore stuff comes in woooo! I don't have headphones on so i can't fully analyze this but it's very intriguing!
i didn’t think of that, but now that i’m hearing the similarities to the leviathan OST and seeing a lot of speculation of this layer being about demons, i can imagine that this layer could have similar demon formations to the leviathan (where they’re not formed of Hell Energy, but instead the bodies of husks who have given up)
The World Looks White is giving me some Concrete Halls vibes (minecraft nether theme), probably because of how melancholic it is, with an underlying feeling of grief. And god damn, The World Looks Red is amazing, the melody at 3:09 definitely takes the cake for the best part in this song, amazing job!
Aaah, hakita has done it again, a very calm soundtrack that feels unsettling to hear, but calm at the same time, and of course, a violent track that expresses a lot of emotions through a song, nostalgia, sadness, and rage, all in the same time, it's like you're turning the world upside down, nothing makes sense anymore, the world looked white before you ruined it, now everything's dead, the only thing alive is you, seeking for more blood and demons to kill, something that seemed impossible to do, something that you are doing This song is simply amazing and I cant even describe it with my own words, Can't wait for act 3, I'm sure it will be amazing and that it will be worth the wait.
For those who don't know, in Dante's Inferno the seventh circle of Hell is Violence, which is guarded by the Minotaur of Crete and houses those who committed violence against their neighbors, violence against the self, and violence against God and art. In the story it takes the shape of three rings. In the first, murderers and tyrants are dipped into the burning river of blood Phlegethon, since they spilled blood during their lifetimes, so shall they be immersed in the afterlife. In the second, the souls of those who committed suicide are petrified and turned into malformed trees of a horrific, gastly forest. Since they refused to live, so too shall they be remain fixed and immobile in death. The third ring is a great desert of burning sand (sounds a lot like Ultrakill's interpretation of Greed), where flakes of flame fall from the sky like snow. Blasphemers and usurers (i.e. loansharks) are punished here; Since their sins were unnatural and sterile, so too shall the land they live in bear no life.
So tempted to hear it, but the music is the only thing i keep myself spoiler-free whenever a teaser drops. Ultrakill is the only game where i can hear the music and immediately remember from what level it comes from. It's so memorable and it absolutely never disappoints
@@Insdoodoldchannel well at least the angels are free and are no longer forced to do barbaric acts. Also, don’t forget that Gabriel is getting more and more unhinged
Ultrakill and it's soundtrack is one of my 1st go to when i say Games are an artform. And Hakita is true artist, Ultrakill is a cultural fenomenon, with it's music and other ideas geting recognision outside the game itself. I'm so glad to be a part of this comunity and seeing the journey of of this creation from the start.
HOLY CRAP SO INTERESTING, the violence layer always interested me a lot and how it will be interpreted into Ultrakill. Cuz... it itself is divided into many areas! And this especially is interesting concidering how twists are done on the layers in UK. My favourite one has to be that the River Styx turned into the Ocean Styx, soooo coolll...
This induces a lot of dread, in my opinion. Dread, sorrow, mounring, I don't know how to describe this feeling. I hear a lot of previous songs embedded in this work. This is amazing
it's probably a reference to gabriel's massacre in heaven. Because he betrayed the council, it would fit in for the layer's name: Treachary What I'm thinking is heaven is gone into ruin after chaos struck the land following the death of the council
Here's a detail I haven't seen anyone else really mention here: The instruments in the very beginning of the track are the same ones that are used during the end-of-act-2 scene (Silence, Introspection).
Perhaps for the first time we will see V1 contemplating his actions, dipping out of his blood lust for just long enough to finally see the road he’s on
@@owengautreau1233 I feel like V1 is just following its progamming (kill, kill and kill) to stay alive and doesn't actually feel remorse for Hell falling apart after the bloodshed is done, and no one is capable of stopping it

While it does sound a bit slow for how fast paced of a game Ultrakill is, if that's the tone you're headed for with Violence then I'm all for it. As always, incredible job Hakita!
@@empty_nam i actually hope not. i actually like how melancholic this sounds, and it would be a nice twist to have such a song play during combat rather than an extremely intense amen break
I feel like ever since the prelude the music in ULTRAKILL has taken a more tragic twist. In the beginning you had upbeat, loud, almost heroic melodies, transitioning into the sheer insanity of limbo, the sombre yet powerful motif of lust, the unnerving yet still familiarly energetic tracks in gluttony, and then there’s greed, while still upbeat and energetic, there’s a more “serious” tone to it, hell is realizing what is happening to it, it’s realizing that V1 is an unstoppable force, and that it must throw everything it has at it. In Wrath, there’s a more mellow theme for most of the levels, with the exception being the sheer awe of death odyssey, and the layer of heresy portrays tragedy, futile struggle, and hell’s attempts to push V1 back or at the very least slow it down. This track seems to portray hell’s final stance against V1, it knows it’s in a war, and it’s losing. This is the last chance the denizens of hell have to save themselves from utter demise. But, as we all know, they can not stop V1. Nothing can. They are not man, nor an angel, nor a prime soul. They are machine.
I've been doing some light reading and found out that The Wood of the Self-Murderers is the first part of Violence in Dante's inferno The sorrowful music fits the atmosphere. Somehow I initially missed that the image seems to suggest the same: blood running from the neck, as if it were cut... or hanging from a noose after too long.
Something interesting is that Violence layer starts melancholic and completly empty... but in "The Wolrd Looks Red" the song is "intense" and sounds like "suffering"... like a violent person full of anger. A explotion of bad emotions in a violent way. Completly masterpiece the OST of this wonderfull game!
the world in red actually blew my mind, it has the potencial to be one of the best soundtracks in the game. I'm really excited to play the act 3 and listen to what new masterpieces hakita has for us. And I'm not seeing anyone commenting on the video's art, could it be an enemy preview as well? it's a really interesting concept
My theory is that this is the enemy art is for a soul that has been punished for suicide. If you look at it's neck you can see blood, and in addition, the lack of fatial features matches up with how the sin of suicide is essentially throwing away your human form (according to Dante's Inferno). Going off of that narrative, this theme fits in perfectly because it is sad/melancholic, so I wouldn't be surprised if 7-1 is the suicide portion of violence.
I find it weird for it to be this art to be in the 7th layer soundtrack because it seems very much like the punishment given to false fate-tellers, sinners that reside in the 8th circle, they have their necks twisted 180 degrees so they can only look back wich kind of looks like the thing in the foto, also they cant see trough their own tears, wich would explain the closed eyes
Why does this sound like a second to last stage theme of an act? Pretty chill, and then dramatic. The fact this is just 7-1 is insane to me. Hakita's gonna Ultrakill us with whatever he's cooking!
honestly i thought act 3 was gonna be a dark and foggy level with a bunch of fences and dead trees, but i like the idea of a white void with a bunch of floating doors too
If Hakita has a million fans, then I am one of them. If Hakita has ten fans, then I am one of them. If Hakita has only one fan then that is me. If Hakita has no fans, then that means I am no longer on earth. If the world is against Hakita, then I am against the world.
Ultrakill is literally the best game ever. I love how the creator puts sneak pics for the fandom to make them still exited i love the gameplay the music is awesome. Hakita you did a masterpiece.
Act 1 and Act 2 had some cool levels. A cyberpunk city, ancient egypt, the bikini bottom, and a church in hell. But Act 3 gives me vibes that its going to be far more tragic and eerie, and honestly, thats going to be a great way to send off ULTRAKILL's final act. Edit: I have a theory on the last 3 layers, they will slowly turn darker from White, grey, to black. Possibly symbolizing the fact that Hell is becoming more empty and your bloodshed is coming to a close. Edit 2: idk about yall, but the 7-4 was WAY less eerie than i was expecting it to be, it was some seriously pumped up shit.
Heresy was already pretty scary when you slowed down and just looked around, so rest-assured, Violence, Fraud and Treachery are probably going to be much scarier and more unnerving.
i love how a game with such a deep story presented in such a beautiful way that in many ways is very dark and hopeless has such a upbeat and humorous community you're a robot tearing through the layers of hell purely to kill because that's what you were built for and all of humanity is gone, and yet the community has other plans
@@TheWindwaker-oy9ph Oh you mean the backstory I was more so referring to the journey we are going through ingame All the best, most interesting and epic things had already happened, and we are walking through the aftermath years after the fact
@sharkenjoyer The visual novel section was allegedly based on Hakita dealing with existential dread. The story is fragmented and you have to piece it together, but it exists
Coming back to the work in progress version, The World Looks Red sounds sounds so empty now, which is crazy because it already sounded great to me before violence came out, really goes to show just how amazing the final version is!
Man, I was born just in time to experience Ultrakill, I'm here since the beginning and it feels surreal, I saw this game go from a neat little project in the beginning and now it has become one of my favorite game of all time, surpassing even Doom Eternal for me
Good lord, these are heavy. They really put into perspective how far we’ve come and how fucked up Hell’s situation has become… to anyone aside from V1, of course. I’m eagerly looking forward to the finished songs.
I think this song is meant to illustrate the "purity" one may find in violence. The (ironic) tranquility in the heart of an entity that lives for the fight itself. It's a notion that machines like V1 as well as Hell (the lifeform itself) understand the best as core values. Also the duality between white and red is supposed to be like the relationship between a blank canvas covering all of creation and an artist that just aches to paint it RED, for that is its one purpose.
Maybe we'll get some introspection on V1's part. It seems aware enough that it can think, given that it names a skull and gets annoyed when V2 tries to run away in Greed. "This is all I was made for..."
@@theguylivinginyourwalls seems unlikely given that v1 has never showed any emotion besides an endless bloodlust. I'm pretty sure that the hank easter eggs and the v2 one liner are just there for the player's sake instead of being things we actually need to read into. On top of that, it would just feel weird to have ultrakill go in that direction.
I'm gonna put out my thoughts on this. I think this new layer, due to these names, will have an abstract feel. Maybe a mechanic that allows a "change of perspective" on the fly. As in, The world looks White, and now it's Red. It definetly feels like something nothing should have ever seen. A layer so deep that even Husks here would feel incorrect. A step "below" hell. Because through it all, it seems that after hell is really heaven in this game. And, I'm extremely excited for a new Prime Soul. And, one concept I really love is the concept of no escape, what if Red and White were two different things? Maybe one being platforming, one is fighting, and a mix of them could form an arena with a new enemy type that can move around said arena with ease, kind of like how a Sisyphean Inssurectionist can jump from here and there.
The layer is called violence it won’t be some abstract woo woo shit the reason the ost is named that way is the calm section is called the world looks white due to no violence just peace but the moment enemies spawn the world becomes red again
@@DivineOrange Violence can be shown in many ways. I would actually really love it if Hakita defied expectations and turned violence from something predictable into something really unique.
i feel like this music signifies a point of no return like there's not enough blood to sustain v1 on the way up if they attempt to leave hell so the only option is to descend further
the concept art (?) shown in this is really interesting. I noticed, in the Inferno, there's a part of Violence layer (violence and fraud and treachery are divided up and have their own segments to them, i guess due to the sheer weight of the sins they represent) where specifically those who have taken their own lives are placed. The art reminded me of this because of the bleeding from the neck. This is probably a bit of a grizzly observation to just say, but judging from where the blood is coming from, it looks like the direction a rope would go if you hung yourself. And that thing's probably going to be an enemy... so it'll be fun to know I'm fighting that haha oh my god (im imagining it as a freaky lanky upgrade to the filth but idk)
I might be mistaking this for something else, so sorry if I'm wrong. But if I remember correctly, the violence layer of hell reincarnated those who committed suicide into inanimate, but sentient trees as punishment for their selfishness. Harpies would pick off the fruit, causing them immense pain. Your theory sounds relatively correct to me. The blood around the neck is almost perfectly placed, and there would be enough people who have hung themselves to serve as enemies...
While I'm holding off on playing the further updates until the game is finished, I'll enjoy speculating about this layer. I get the impression of it's colour palette being white and red as implied by the song titles. I can imagine the layer covered in ash, making it stark white with a fee bouts of red, probably blood or architecture. Can't wait to hear what you cook up with this!!
I had an idea about the layer being comprised of white marble, with the reveal of the actual layer having blood running through the marble's 'veins', blood pouring out of everything, etcetera, which also harkens back to Hakita's tweet about the violence layer with a gif of the blood flood from 'The Shining'
Imagine having an Ultrakill secret level that has mannequins following you if you look away from them and once touched instantly kills you. This puts a slight tone with the "Something Wicked" level
"The World Looks Red" Looks so amazing for real! I guess "The World Looks White" is basically the same energy as playing 6-1, and the transition is when we fall down after placing the skull in.
I got absolute chills from this piece and I can’t say that about much. It feels super unique in its style and that’s saying something when basically every individual track in ULTRAKILL feels like it could stand alone if it needed to.
I feel like Volence will be exactly where the layers of hell begin to turn scarier and scarier to witness, even through the filtering of a machine's camera. Frightening palace... Ruthless clash of metal, flesh, rock and the remnants of the once divine... These are the layers not lifted off their punishments, nor the layers punishing for self-affecting sins, but the layers which sustained their roles, as their governors remained at keeping killers and fraudsters who they punish for all eternity be given no second chance alike. V1 enters Violence layer. Sinners stuck to the trees. grown into them. Vividly feeling their agonizing pain as endlessly-furious aerial creatures mercilessly tear their flesh again and again, only for the blood spilt to be absorbed back in, prolonging the torture. How many cycles of this have passed? None knows answer. None would be able to answer. None would be able to speak. They forgot how to speak, their consciousness being condemned to feeling two things: pain, and the brief abscence of pain which only causes immense fear of being inflicted with pain for another time. Crushing the mind like a rotten apple. Another time, that has no known number. V1 seeks slaughter, and it will get it. Not even the highest of angels was able to stop it, now losing twice to an object. Does V1 truly commit evil by making genocide of the layers of hell, purging the consciousness of each individual from existence? Or does it bring them salvation, putting an end to their tortures, sinners big and small alike? After all, the end of the tunnel is near. The machine is getting rusty. It is also destined to die its own way. Once the last living being inside of hell perishes, V1 will have its job done, left to eventually lose it's own programmed consciousness, slowly lying down on the floor, encasing the spent cold blood in it's plastic veins. It will have fulfilled... *The will of God.*
No idea why but 4:34 onwards sounds like something out of Deltarune to me. I love the aesthetic of this layer so far and i'm super excited to see what comes next.
I cant wait to see how you mix the pristine melancholy of these songs into the violence that is Ultrakill. My guess is a "paint the white halls red" situation.
Incredibly sorrowful. The different takes on hell's circles in ultrakill are always interesting, so to hear this as a song for the violence layer hypes me up
Based on the song name, tone, and the fact that Hakita usually puts a unique twist on the layers of Hell, here's my prediction.
Literal rivers of spent munitions
Then the world becomes red once again as violence returns to the fields with these perfect killers
i dunno much about what violence is about but my imagination was more like violence beinv a kind of peaceful sombre place because that would be a great sort of punishment... and also maybe violence gives you harder but less enemies because then you'll have less opportunities for blood and you'll just slowly lose more and more of those opportunities and you as v1 eventually dies or something idk
Something tells me this layer is going to feel sadder than the Lust layer.

violence! in just a day!
V1 is the protagonist, but make no mistake
He's not the hero
He's simply a monument to the sins of mankind, and what was once seemed like a quirky violent quest to slay the evil in hell has all but revealed its true colors
V1's quest is not noble nor heroic, but it's not exactly evil or wrong
At the end of the day, V1 is essentially just... a creature of steel, and when a creature is hungry... it hunts.... it kills. Same for every machine that descended into hell
Perhaps there actually is more to V1 than we know about.. perhaps there's a reason beyond blood,
but until then, All we know is that a robot apocalypse is destroying the last of all remaining life in the universe, the closest thing this story has to a hero, Gabriel the Angel, is mere hours away from death, and the primordial evil behind it all, seems to only want to enjoy the death and destruction, even if it means it's own demise....
There are many ways this story could end....... but not a single one that can avoid tragedy
violence is sad, not overwhelming
@@puhteeah4876 In Dante's Inferno, Heresy is the starting point to where sinners are actually being tortured rather than just suffering.

Ultrakill is unlike any other game I've played for multiple reasons and I can't begin to express how excited I am for part 3.

If you look at Gabriel's helm you can see that the holes are positioned near the bottom of the face
the face depicted here has eyes near the bottom of the face
the small cross extending from Gabriel's helmet also could be used to make space for the nose and mouth as it lines up really well
edit : after reading replies, i noticed the guy that said that angels and other inhabitants of hell have lost their eyes
however, as mentioned virtues assigned to guarding hell for some reason have no eyes.
Gabriel probably had eyes before, hence the holes in the helmet, then he was assigned as a judge of hell, losing the eyes, leaving the holes useless.
Oh and the face here has eyes opened and you can clearly see it doesn't have the eyeballs themselves
TL,DR of the edit :

With these new WIP tracks, my guess for Violence is that it's going to be a very similar vibe to Lust and Wrath, where any sense of being lived in is long gone. Everyone is drained of energy and filled with regret over the needless pain inflicted upon one another, leaving only the suffering that comes as an aftermath of brutality. That is, of course, until a funny little GoPro paints the town red ;)
Also, 4:55, ORDER version of the Requiem motif anyone?
Wrath is working as intended and never was any different from how it was described in Inferno by Dante. The water formed of sinners on the surface is still going at it with eachother so hard it damages v1, while the depths of it is calm as sinners too wrathful to even act drown until they calm down.
The biggest change it went through is that its not longer a river and instead became an ocean

@@juliusfetingis3083 Dante exits the inferno at the final layer, so maybe V1 will be able to do similarly. Hakita has plans.
The 7th layer is a forest of suicidal people reincarnated into abnormal trees that can feel pain and have emotion.
The reason their punishment is so specific is because they tried to escape the burden of pain in life.
And thus, their fruits are picked off by harpies causing them immense pain as punishment.

That’s not the _only_ thing it has

i didn’t think of that, but now that i’m hearing the similarities to the leviathan OST and seeing a lot of speculation of this layer being about demons, i can imagine that this layer could have similar demon formations to the leviathan
(where they’re not formed of Hell Energy, but instead the bodies of husks who have given up)
The World Looks White is giving me some Concrete Halls vibes (minecraft nether theme), probably because of how melancholic it is, with an underlying feeling of grief. And god damn, The World Looks Red is amazing, the melody at 3:09 definitely takes the cake for the best part in this song, amazing job!
I mean both of the songs are based on Hell
Oh hey it's the animation man
The melody sounds like Space Song
Aaah, hakita has done it again, a very calm soundtrack that feels unsettling to hear, but calm at the same time, and of course, a violent track that expresses a lot of emotions through a song, nostalgia, sadness, and rage, all in the same time, it's like you're turning the world upside down, nothing makes sense anymore, the world looked white before you ruined it, now everything's dead, the only thing alive is you, seeking for more blood and demons to kill, something that seemed impossible to do, something that you are doing
This song is simply amazing and I cant even describe it with my own words, Can't wait for act 3, I'm sure it will be amazing and that it will be worth the wait.
Violence is possibly the layer I am the most excited for, so consider me PUMPED for this one

And I'm not seeing anyone commenting on the video's art, could it be an enemy preview as well? it's a really interesting concept
someone said it could be gabriel and it kinda makes sense
@@SureshotBowmen yoooooo ur right
My theory is that this is the enemy art is for a soul that has been punished for suicide.

Nothing to distract from the violence
honestly i thought act 3 was gonna be a dark and foggy level with a bunch of fences and dead trees, but i like the idea of a white void with a bunch of floating doors too

i love how a game with such a deep story presented in such a beautiful way that in many ways is very dark and hopeless has such a upbeat and humorous community
you're a robot tearing through the layers of hell purely to kill because that's what you were built for and all of humanity is gone, and yet the community has other plans
@aquents the sex update is real, the game has buttplug support that responds to damage by vibrating
The deep story in question: nonexistent
Its there, you just have to read it
@@TheWindwaker-oy9ph Oh you mean the backstory
I was more so referring to the journey we are going through ingame
All the best, most interesting and epic things had already happened, and we are walking through the aftermath years after the fact
2:26 gives me leviathan vibes, and so does the whole track of "The World Looks Red"
Wow, at the end you kinda got it right!
@OctolingGrimm pffff, wasnt expecting a calamity reference here, and i wasnt expecting to see you. (im natalie, by the way)
Yeah, I like Calamity!
The layer is called violence it won’t be some abstract woo woo shit the reason the ost is named that way is the calm section is called the world looks white due to no violence just peace but the moment enemies spawn the world becomes red again
@@DivineOrange I think it's fine for interpretation, hell, the Violence layer _can_ be some "woo woo abstract shit".
@@DivineOrange Violence can be shown in many ways. I would actually really love it if Hakita defied expectations and turned violence from something predictable into something really unique.
i feel like this music signifies a point of no return
like there's not enough blood to sustain v1 on the way up if they attempt to leave hell
so the only option is to descend further
the concept art (?) shown in this is really interesting. And that thing's probably going to be an enemy...
so it'll be fun to know I'm fighting that haha oh my god
(im imagining it as a freaky lanky upgrade to the filth but idk)
I might be mistaking this for something else, so sorry if I'm wrong.
But if I remember correctly, the violence layer of hell reincarnated those who committed suicide into inanimate, but sentient trees as punishment for their selfishness. Harpies would pick off the fruit, causing them immense pain.
Your theory sounds relatively correct to me. The blood around the neck is almost perfectly placed, and there would be enough people who have hung themselves to serve as enemies...
So the Mannequin is literally actually a lanky horrid handmade demon. Good job predicting Johnifer the Mannequin!
@@feroxino1051 heh. handmade. made of hands.
@@epictrollmanmoment what do you even mean
Guess what? THEY FUCKING CRAWL!!!!
After watching the teaser of the level and coming back to this song, I did not realise the Swans reference. Quite fitting for the Violence layer.
"Your punishment for your violence? A false peace."
Okay...... I don't know how to describe the feeling this song gave me
It seems like an empty melancholy, with a bit a dread as a treat
Imagine having an Ultrakill secret level that has mannequins following you if you look away from them and once touched instantly kills you. This puts a slight tone with the "Something Wicked" level
insta kill sounds annoying, i think constant damage sounds good enough

"The World Looks Red" Looks so amazing for real! I guess "The World Looks White" is basically the same energy as playing 6-1, and the transition is when we fall down after placing the skull in.
This feels like Guts And Glory to me tbh. Would explain the titles
I like long names for music. also this is really calm and eerie at the same time
waw marzuku !!
i like your music dude
That transition is fire. Just like the rest of the track. As always
*The will of God.*
even after violence dropped, this still hits hard, and a lot of it still remains accurate, although not in the same ways as stated
No idea why but 4:34 onwards sounds like something out of Deltarune to me. I love the aesthetic of this layer so far and i'm super excited to see what comes next.
yes, for some reason i felt like i heard it somewhere before..
@@coolu It's the opening of ORDER in a minor key! What on earth it's doing there I have no clue.
