The singing dude's ability to see auras is cool. He can see you in complete darkness no matter what. I bit it's going to play a big part in season 2. I didn't realize care about him. But his monster design looks great

Yes... and the alternative is a character who's Wikipedia page is more about Richter and the mobile non Canon version of her than it was about the actual character. The original version of her was a blank slate, a pretty face to save, a placeholder for 'insert hero's damsel here'. Instead we have a female fighter filled with trauma from accurate depictions of the time period. I understand getting annoyed at race swapping for the sake of it. But that's when the character in question had a prior personality to what is shown now.
