The og menzingers demo with this and Casey and really all of em, is a fucking masterpiece it should definitely get more recognition. Love Greg and the menzingers, miss this shit 😢
I love all their songs but holy shit this one became my favorite as soon as i found it. It stomps me in the chest with a elephant's trunk of a foot. The lyrics' sorrow and the light-heart acoustic make you tear up on many levels.
I remember you well at the Sun Hotel Next to Fernando's Corner Store Grocery Behind the factory spoils where no souls should be found We kept our voices low from the city I played you a song about the town that I was from While Dan played "Casey" while sipping on a Mickey's We drank to forget that our lives were a wreck That's when I realized you were the only pretty thing left I remember you well at the Sun Hotel Where we were famous, and our hearts were fucking legends And you told me again, "Greg I prefer more handsomer men, but for you tonight I will make an exception." You were clenching your fists You were biting your upper lip I watched a thousand tiny goosebumps gain territory of your skin And for whatever this is worth I was happy I was sure of everything But you got away Yeah didn't you babe? But you got away And I never once heard you say "I need you." Well I don't need you God I need you Well I don't need you God I need you Well I don't need you God I need you I don't need you I don't need you I don't need you I don't mean to suggest that I loved you the best No, I don't mean to suggest that I loved you the best I don't mean to suggest that I loved you the best That's it That's it
Sounds good!! Sun hotel is a dirty ass place though, condemned now. Wish i could go back to the days of skating all day and jumping the cliffs in ledgedale!!! Song brings me back to highschool!!
He's borrowing a lot of Leonard Cohen here. Which I hope a lot of people commenting on this know of. Look up Chelsea Hotel No. 2. He did a great job reworking it, and changing up lyrics in a real folk tradition.
Why did this not make it on the album? It would have been a great closer, not that Freedom Bridge isn't it's a perfect closer, but these two together would have killed
This video deserves more than 3,300 views. It's sickening that the likes of Rihanna are more popular, yet can't even write a truly amazing song like this.
Yeah, it's pretty simple actually. Capo on the fourth fret if you're in standard tuning. The only four chords he uses are the ever cliche C, Am, G, and F, but they're swapped around every so often. For the most part, the C is in the normal position. For the G, keep your index finger where it would be in a C chord so it's on the first fret of the B string and don't put down your pinky or ring finger on the third fret of the B and high E strings like you normally would for a G. When the song speeds up, you can put your pinky down on the third fret of the high E string if you want it there. It's won't sound bad and may add some extra flavor to it. The Am is normal, but again, if you want to add in that pinky on the high E's third fret, go for it; it'll add some color to the transitions. The F is played like a normal F chord would be except for the high E string, where you should have that played open, so I would suggest (to make it easier, and since I'm such a lazy player, I do it for almost every barre chord I do on the low E string) using your thumb to press down the first fret of the low E string. It's probably not EXACTLY the way Greg plays it, but why would you want to play exactly like someone else? Be yourself. That's what punk is about.

This song still makes me feel things
I feel like the instruments in the background are cymbalic of something.
I love this song so hard

Its on the possible past album. The acoustic album.
Still so fucking good
Greg, why does it hurt so bad? :(

I think he said so as well in an interview somewhere? That's why this song isn't on the record and "sun hotel" is what this song eventually became.
for this he plays capo on the 4th but on the actual taped version he plays capo on the 5th
Why did this not make it on the album? It would have been a great closer, not that Freedom Bridge isn't it's a perfect closer, but these two together would have killed
I got capo 4th?
Capo fifth fret, play in C position. its real easy to figure out from there, mostly just 1 4 and 5 chords
I really hope that everyone understands they took this and made a different version of the song Chelsea hotel pt2
Can anyone make a Ultimate Guitar chord page for this?
Just made one, it should be up now

anybody know the chords for this??
AAAGH..I've been trying to figure this song out for hours! Any one know what chord positions he's using? I can't crack it for the life of me.

Oh, and the "I don't need you"s are just Am and Em.
Thank you...Thank you so much.
No worries. I've been playing the song all day now after I wrote all that out.
It makes sense with the chords you suggested. I can hear them definitely. It's his positioning that keeps throwing me off.
