Periodically wealth becomes stratified and the folks at the top become ignorant or callous of the plight of the folks beneath them. From one perspective you can blame them as they are the individuals with the means to change the system, but when you realize that even though they have the means... the system also shaped them to not have the will. So it gets very philosophical.

Dude is putting his family in jeopardy by secretly giving his dad HUGE sums of money while they're facing a financial crisis. That's incredibly irresponsible and selfish. He ended up deflecting the argument and shifting focus to a bunch of other things that bothered him, which spiraled to a ridiculous argument. End of the day, he was wrong, deflected, and painted her as the bad guy. Money is the #1 cause for divorce, and he's the one who is literally causing the money problems.
What's crazy is I remember them from Knocked Up and thought (mind you I was 24 when that movie came up) this is just an exaggeration. Then I watched this movie when it came out and was still optimistic about healthy relationships. Now that I'm 41, I completely get Pete (mainly because I'm twice divorced now) and truth be told, I can empathize with Debbi (even though she projects, cuts down, and is demeaning to her husband).

I Loved This Movie For 2 Reasons. 1. Paul Rudd Leslie Mann Megan Fox Etc are So Talented especially Mel Brooks from Finding Nemo and Jason Segel From The Muppets and How I met your mother. And 2. It’s a Great movie of 2012 ever because this is 5 Years After Knocked Up. Gotta Say Great Movie To The Director Of Both Films Judd Apatow. I wanna watch this movie over and over again

Leslie is a highly underrated actor.
This is a couple living WAY beyond their means. 4/5 times it comes down to money. Interesting performances.
Being financially incompatible kills a ton of relationships, and it doesn't help that they don't communicate well with each other at all.
