It's rare to find an abandoned mine cut into such solid rock, where there's basically no risk of a cave-in in the main tunnels. Those tunnels are over 100 years old and the floor is still clear. Definitely a safe place to take shelter from nearly anything as long as you have stuff to dig your way out from external collapse.
This was a very interesting episode. Especially that super high stope!! That was cool, and these compliments are only for part 1. I can't wait for Saturday!!! Great job Gly and ❤Laura!!!!!
I love watching these videos. It's winter here and watching the two of you enjoying the desert sun makes me feel warm by proxy 😊 I was born in 1971 as well, July. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling the age related 'scatter-brain'! 😅
Great episode. I live near Fallon and have been in Eagleville a couple of times over the years. I remember my back aching from being bent over so much while exploring it. Nice seeing it from the comfort of my chair, LOL. I'm sad the USN is withdrawing so much of my usual stomping grounds from public access. Thank You guys.
Thank you very much . As I lay here in the hospital it is nice to see another adventure you two take us on It helps me. Thank you both so much. May the good LORD bless you both and families
Back from my trip to Wyo. Now to place "catch up" of your segments. Hmm, something new has occured. Your mustache has got "end curls", plus full chin whiskers. Ya, kinda the "vougue currently. Where was the quartzs vein in this mine if its a Gold mine? At 27:24, re: loosing thought process.....not at your age, except sporadicly. As my grandpa explained when he was in his 70's, "its as the file drawers in his brain got full, then some have to be emptied to make room for new thoughts. Thanks for sharing your explore with us.
Hope the two of you find some cool artifacts, other than that rail. Unique mine, they all are, aced this one, so cool. I was wondering, how much gold was produced out of this mine. It was never stated.
I'm not sure if that was an artifact or not but I know if I'd been there it would have unlocked my joints. I am so tickled that both of you working together it just gets better and better God bless you both stay safe.🙏👍👍👍👍🌹

i have followed your channel for a long time, and will continue to do so. your camerawork and lighting are excellent, and you are knowledgeable and entertaining. Laura is a good fit and adds to your channel's appeal. i was disappointed to hear the background music. this seems to be a new fad, as it has appeared on many youtubers videos. i am hard of hearing , and barely heard noises drive me bonkers, lol. closed captioning may take away from the beauty of the mine, but i am so glad it is available on your videos, and that you speak clearly enough it catches all your words. thanks so much for sharing the beauty and history of earlier Americans!
“Gly”: Thank you very much! From time to time I’ll slip in some background music for special segments like fast forwarding through a long haulage adit but other than that I keep it to a minimum because I too believe that dramatic background music ruins the experience.
Drat I was hoping for a next week on Abandoned and Forgotten places sneak peak. It leaves a lot of anticipation for the following Saturday. Ohh well. I guess we’ll have to wait and find out what else this mine has to offer.
“Gly”: Thanks! In the last couple of weeks I’ve learned how to use multi-camera and proxies in my video editing and it has vastly improved my workflow and creativity.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces one thing keep an eye on camera angle pointing down winds and up stoops. I have a camera that Bluetooth links to my phone for remote realtime monitoring. Just a thought. By the way Laura is doing a great job. I hear your encouragements on the videos.

Yes, more people should go out and enjoy our public lands...before the government decides to kick us out of our public lands 'cause they have a better use for it, in their minds, at least.
Amazing to me looking back into time when the country had few regulations, but the opportunity to make something out of nothing today the common man has none of that.
Thanks again Gly and Laura for a great Sat. Morning. Laura lookin a little like a BLM or Park Ranger in her get up. Just need a smokey bear hat. ; ) Thanks Tina - you are awesome (as always)
I am, respectively, going to disagree that it is "public land". It is owned by the government. The government, and not we the public, control the lands and they tell us what we can and cannot do. Too often the government just wants to exercise its power and show us who is boss. Guess I have too many years bumping into government of one sort or another.
“Gly”: When you get down to the nuts and bolts of it you are absolutely 100% correct. They can even take private land via eminent domain if they feel it’s necessary.
If a person was to make a bet, and then lose it, and to make good on that bet they had to shave off your goatee, would you be a good sport and let them? Asking for a friend.
I say BS! Long long time sub here 👍 your giving us O,G subs a bad rep We don’t whine like a baby that soiled its diaper 🍼 or is it just that time of month! 🤔 🤦♂️
Love the content, long time sub. Please lose the parrot cam and selfies. I watched every episode and you went from not wanting to be on camera to too much. I want to see what you are seeing and not your face.
“Gly”: The selfi-shot breaks up the forward facing shots and personalizes the viewing experience otherwise it would be one long continuous shot and over time that gets boring. In the beginning I stayed out of the cameras eye for entirely different reasons, being in the witness protection program does have its rules and limitations.😉
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces I disagree, it's not boring, FPV is what I prefer. Breaking up the shots ruins the experience, I'm trying to look at so many different things in the shot and then bam it goes back to looking at you, very frustrating. Also the parrot cam is unnecessary and distorts the view.
“Gly”: They will chip out a sample using some kind of hand tool from a strategic part of the ore body, sack it up and take it back to be assayed using chemicals or gravity separation. When sampling an ore body they first start by sampling the margins where the ore meets the hanging wall or foot wall as this is typically the area of higher concentration.

Loving all the new explores!! Even better with Laura at your side!
As much as this mine is explored, it’s nice to see zero modern day spray paint graffiti.
You’re welcome,,Gly. U wanted a new one because Laura has a new one,, haha. A very interesting mine . Thank you both for checking it out 😊
That's a really cool late 1800s mine. Not many artifacts remain, but so it goes with well known spots near population areas.

When the ominous music kicked in at 10:40 I was concerned Gly and Laura were gonna stumble across a dead body!☠️💀😱

Gly, you two, make a GREAT, team...Who put the Memorial plaque in the mine? .................JB...
“Gly”: We’re not sure who put the plaque in there. Maybe a family member of one of the old miners.

Wonder if it is a Service poem. or just in the same style?

How far they could mine in a single shift would be rock type and hardness

Gly. Roughly how long would it take two minors on average to dig 10 feet especially during the different eras?

Public lands are being closed in America?
“Gly”: Yes. We keep loosing more and more each and every year.

I truly wish Gly would use the word "We" vs. "I".
“Gly”: Haha.. I’m trying. Too many years of saying “I” I suppose.
Go ahead, spoil me!
So why are the Bad people closing that area ?
“Gly”: To help keep top secret things out of the public eye.
Are you calling our military bad?

Gly? What exactly is an ore sample, and what do they look for to see if it is worth it to mine?
