that's the brilliance of the character. He's not some 9 to 5 guy who works at Walmart. He is somewhat cultured and he's not stupid, he's quite perceptive. But, his desperation and insecurity make him repulsive. The actor did a great job.
I love the touch of making Hannibal's commentary in fancy script since he is fancy and sophisticated, and Franklyn's in regular Arial or whatever because he is far from elegant. Amazing creativity and attention to character, also so freakin hilarious😂
