  • The hardest trail I have ridden! Every-time I struggle... When you make a purchase on this link: bit.ly/39xojyn you support my channel and help me to put out more, and better videos!
    To lead me done this very long lap, Greg Germain (@1001sentiers). Greg is a local Mountain Bike Guide, photographer, race organizer and has a very active website with all the news from the South Est of France. Check it out for more informations: www.1001sentie...
    This is where I grew up. I used to enjoy these trails, I was better at it than I am now. I have not practiced enough, and I need to adapt my riding to the terrain more.

    That trail is super gnarly! Even with the Go-Pro effect the switch back section looks terrifying. There's very little room for error and the consequences of making a mistake are very high.
    Respect for getting down in one piece. 🤘😎

    Great run! I prefer challenging trails that are not specific to mountain biking and this is such a fine example and a technical treat too. What a big smile you put on my face when you said “hey buddy” to the dog. That’s my four legged greeting as well. Thanks for the fun. I prefer riding over watching, but it’s February in Oregon, so there is nothing worth riding for a while. So, if I have to view instead of do, I prefer to watch you. Cheers!

    Amazing riding, especially in that wind. Would have loved to see some footage of how you rode that, maybe with a cam mounted on Greg’s back a la Nate Hill’s last video. Definitely next level riding.

    Great video. Very interesting to watch you ride different and technical terrain. This made me feel like the first time I rode trails in Squamish and Whistler on a hard tail on narrow xc tires with 50psi! 😂. In my defense there were no real mountains to ride in Toronto.

    Hey Remy, how do you deal with arm pump? Specifically Whistler Mountain Bike Park braking bumps? Do you soften your fork? Make rebound faster? How do you deal with small bump chatter?

    • @piciu256
      @piciu256 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No setup will help really, making the suspension softer would actually make things worse overall, you just need to strengthen your core muscles, there are a lot of great exercises to increase your arm strength.

    • @piciu256
      @piciu256 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, look at the braking bumps at close, those are not really small bumps, they're pretty humongous, I was really surprised when I first saw them.

    • @remymetailler
      @remymetailler  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well, I really struggle myself with arm pumps. First of ride relaxed. Don't grip hard. Then drink water, look ahead to anticipate things. Run a bit of a higher front end. Use your legs to take impacts and rest your arms as much as you can. Set up your brakes so they easy and effortless to reach. That's the most important.

    • @SurikatMeerkat
      @SurikatMeerkat 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Recently went on a very long downhill that was very rough. In anticipation for it I was also struggling with arm pump. Best thing that worked for me was to raise my brake levers higher. It worked like an absolute charm for me. So maybe try that? Easiest and cheapest way to sort it. Other one is enough hydration as Remi stated, always keep hydrated.

    Great to see you have to try like the rest of us and its not as easy for you all the time. Definitely makes you more relateable. I persoanlly would like to see a little more climbing in the trail previews as well. I feel like mountain biking is always about DH when a lot of time is spent riding up hill (Unless you shuttle!)

    • @remymetailler
      @remymetailler  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I do not enjoy up hills at all. The only reason I go up is to go down, and they usually are less interesting, but I will talk more about the climbing in the next ones.

    Hey Remy do you recommend cushcore tire inserts? The owner of starling cycles recommends them, says he had his tire pressure down to 10 PSI in mud. Want to get a few opinions before making the investment because they aren't cheap.

    • @remymetailler
      @remymetailler  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I do not use them because they are a pain to install and I like to save weight. I ran on this track 17 and 19 psi with a DH casing on the rear and enduro casing up front.

    Hi Remy, just wondering how a freerider athlete of your level trains regarding the aerobic fitness. Do you ride some xc in the winter or maybe also some road or turbo trainer? Do you have an FTP test done every once in a while or some physical evaluation? Thank you!

  • @alex098186
    @alex098186 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video as always. What kind of suspension setting would you suggest works better on this type of trails?

    • @remymetailler
      @remymetailler  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are no big impacts so I try to have a very comfortable set up. Softer, less compression.
