I’m not surprised. Illinois has been improving every year. The offensive coordinator called an incredible game. Had Huskers D on back foot especially 4 th quarter.
No need to apologize for having picked Nebraska. Understandable given the attention Nebraska had received. Good observations in your commentary. One thing you did not mention was that Illinois fired the DB coach from last year and brought in a new one. I think he has helped to make the secondary better (in addition to all that you mentioned). Also, one cannot overlook the culture that Bielema has instilled and his messaging. If you listen to press conferences with the assistant coaches and the players, you can tell they have all bought into what Bielema is selling and are on the same page.
I remember last year, when Altmyer and Paddock were fighting for the starting job, the feeling was Paddock was gonna give them a better chance to win last year BUT if Altmyer got the job, it was gonna be a bit rough last year with him needing to bed in and develop more BUT the payoff would be greater the following 2 years, assuming he stays all 3 years, and with Illinois loosing bunch of secondary, RB and couple OL, it would be better to just take all the lumps in one year.
Dangerous Idk. They re a good team but not great. Still a bit small on defense. A season can wear them out. Hopefully ( as for any team ) they have no key injuries during a long season.
Illinois is not small on defense. Edwards 325, Briggs 290, Jacas 270 as a OLB but doubles on the line, Bryant 250, Coleman 250. LBs I'll give you but they're not small just shorter. Same with a few of the DBs

What it really boils down to is Illinois just has the superior corn.
Illini played a great game
It's taken some time for the Illinois O-line to gel. I think the transfers on that line got better. Already looking forward to next week's games.

It was a hot night, and I thought Nebraska looked gassed in the 4th Q... and in the OT...
Nebraska fan here. Illinois should beat Penn State too. The refs were not good to Nebraska at all, but Illinois did win outright in Q4 and in OT.
They won me some serious cash, lol😂, NE is overrated,
My father played fullback at Illinois in '54 and their only win that year was 34-6 over Syracuse. JC Caroline
@@craigblack7076 I'm sure your father is happy, lol, great stuff, I'm glad they beat those clowns at NE stadium, lol
@@craigblack7076all time great Illini legend

Neb fans might be the saddest losers online, competing hard with USC whining about the refs.
Refs vs Nebraska
Losers cry about the Refs 😂
Who good is this Illinois team? 😂 0:01
they’re good enough to beat NE at home bro, 😂, I won great money on that
NE sucks complete ass we always find ways to lose games
