  • We do a quick review on the new Kia Cadenza Technology trim. This model aspires to take the full size crown by becoming better than most entry level Luxury cars. The buyer gets so much here compared to some BMW, Audi and Lexus that the question is, why look elsewhere?

    I have the previous generation of this car with all the features you might think of. I bought it slightly used under 20k and still under full warranty. it still turn heads to this day especially after i put the Korean logos on it. it is a shame that most people don't even consider this car or the previous generation. it is truly mind blowing.

    Love the new geese scenes! I have the Hyundai sister car, the Azera. Got it certified, a 2015 (refresh year) w/40k miles for $18k (almost half price from new). It was a rental car, but you'd never know it, it held up extremely well. True, it's not a passion drive (I've got another car for that), but it's got a good punch and you get spoiled by the luxury, quietness and refinement. You look forward to it because it's a nice place to be. Save tens of thousands and buy one of these, not a Lexus!

      Yes, it is a great highway cruiser! We took it to Houston (live by Milwaukee) and it is quiet, smooth and the seats are all-day comfortable (almost no fatigue). The Infinity sound system is great as well. The ride is more floaty than german (dialed in) for sure, but it eats up the miles well. It's also nice around town (it's quick, engine sounds good like you said) and trans is smooth (the old 6-speed).

I have driven this car and i fell in love with it, but as i get older i realize i don't use a lot of the bells and whistles. All i really want is - heated AND cooled seats, great sound system. AWD.. The Stinger GT is the most excited I've been about a car in a long time. Fast, attractive, affordable. On paper it makes zero sense to go buy an A5 Sportback or that slanty BMW 3 Series thing. I've driven "unique" cars all my life; I love what Kia is doing.
    BUT. Even I admit that the badge is a huge turnoff. I hate that I feel that way but I do. Toyota and Honda developed new badges to great success, and I hope Genesis works out for Hyundai. I think it's time for Kia to follow suit.

    I sincerely think that the 3.3 V6 is one of H/K's best engines. I wish that they could do some work on the internals to raise the redline and get more power out of it. I know turbocharging is "the future", but we all know how most enthusiasts feel about turbocharging, and to see a high-revving NA V6 put into, say, the Genesis G70 Coupe in a few years would make me happy.

    • @chapterrv
      @chapterrv 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally, I think they need to nix the K900. It's more expensive than its twin sister, the Genesis G80 (and Hyundai Genesis), but it doesn't do anything better. I'm not sure why the Kia version is more expensive since it isn't part of a dedicated luxury brand like Genesis. It may make sense for Kia to launch a premium brand, like how Ford and Lincoln had Mercury. But, I don't see that happening, at least not anytime soon since Genesis was just launched.

    • @UnitedRecording

      Hi, the K900 is not in the same competition as G80. It competes directly with the G90. Personally, I am glad Kia didn't do a logo redesign (they need to defeat this stigma that has stuck with them). Also, Kia does not have enough resources at this moment to have a separate brand like Genesis for their luxury cars...Hyundai's Genesis was in the works for a while + Hyundai is a more successful company overall.

    I appreciate this car from a basic automotive standpoint, but I have no idea how this is supposed to compete from a marketing perspective. I can't come up with any legitimate reasons why someone would buy this over a Lexus ES 350.
    That said, I'm into the comfort that these big old plain vanilla mid-size sedans offer, and I'd love to see you review the new Buick LaCrosse and the Lincoln Continental.

    A good video, but man, do I now realize how essential the Turbowski piece is to the rhythm of your work (and his intro music) -- we just needed, at least, a dash of your nuanced humor. Without it, this video was a bit like the Cadenza. Oh wait! I see what you did there; art imitating life, life imitating art...well played, sir. Perhaps a bit too avant garde for the unseasoned viewer -- either way, carry on with the commitment to excellence.

    • @savagegeese
      @savagegeese  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Justin Bates The tone of the video is deliberate, I am sure you caught it. But yes, the Turbowski parts change pacing and dynamic of most cars, its good to do videos without him to show it.

    Knowing someone that worked at Hyundai engineering here in the US, i'd have to disagree with you about the Koreans not being stubborn and listening. Their cars have improved partly because they've copied other automakers, which isn't necessarily a bad thing and is probably common in the industry. They made significant gains in terms of quality and looks and carved out their own piece of the market--no denying that.

    • @savagegeese
      @savagegeese  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MatadorCE I agree with some of that, and to a certain level Hyundai and Kia USA definately have some pull on changes to many things, I witnessed it with the Veloster, Sonata and Elantra first hand where lists of things owners wanted changed went into production. However core things like chassis and drivetrain I don't think it's as easy. Exterior design is likeley very rigid.

    Mr Geese....I agree with most of what you're saying but feel Hyundai has been a bit stubborn as well with regards to their dedication to their 1.6T engine. I feel they should have dropped it and replaced it with their 2.0T especially in the Forte SX and Veloster Turbo. Their last entry into the hot hatch segment could have been competitive but was the size of the foST with te engine of the fiST.....I also feel they were afraid of the reliability of the platform and have since tuned down the turbo engines to get more mpg. Currently they all run rich as hell and any longterm casual owner can be spotted by their filthy bumper...

      Hey man, I know it's been 2 years since you asked; but I finally have an answer for you (My dad has a 2019 Avalon, and I just got the 2018 Cadenza; practically the same car as the 2017 Cadenza). I've driven both of these for a good bit, and the Cadenza takes the win over the two. Even my dad was second guessing his purchase of the Avalon when he got to drive the Cadenza. :)

    do you see temps in colder climates, like the CHI area, as a negative to all of this LCD screen functionality? My phone hates it when it is 20*F outside, so a car cold-soaking for hours isn't going to fair much better. Hate to say it, but I liked this video not so much for the car, but for the lack of time spent in the shoppe. Nissan's and other makers' move to CVTs has us actually looking at KIA and Hyundai for out next vehicle. Maybe KIA's success will show that it is OK to give customers what they want/ask for...so I guess the consumer will have to look past the badge to make the Cadenza a success...focus on the car and not the badge

    Did Kia ever address the infotainment sluggishness from the previous early-mid 2010's gen cars; BOTH Optima & Cadenza? Because I test drove both ones in EX form (both likely with ventilated seats optioned in) and the simple act of skipping songs on the ipod from a button on the steering wheel took a VERY long time to respond; I'm talking 6-10+ seconds, no joke. Could've sworn I tested BOTH bluetooth & usb to attest this, but this wad some time ago...
    I wouldn't care about this moderate irritance, but if I can make an ipod work to my liking in a 15-20 y/o car with a >$30 adaptor, why must the infotainment in something easily $15 g's lightly used but relatively new legit FUCK with me when I wanna do a very simple thing like that??? The whole seeing multiple last gen optimas with half-burned out LED taillights while driving around on top of the simy seeing how the car works in the test drive completely turned me off Kia despite me hearing Hyundai/Kia reliability is actually trending upwards right now & into the future...
