Click “Show More” in the video description for the download links! Are you using an Intel Mac and want to install Windows 10 in UTM? You can still follow the video tutorial, with two changes: During Step 5 (2:56): after you’ve downloaded and opened the UTM file, check the amount of Memory your Intel Mac has and change the Memory for the VM to half of your Mac’s Memory (like shown in the video). Then, on the same page as the Memory slider (3:14), change the System to “Standard PC (Q35 + ICH9, 2009) (pc-q35-2.9)”. Next, click Show Advanced Settings and change the number of CPU Cores to 0 Cores. Click Save and then keep following the video instructions until 5:58. During Step 6: The other difference is, do not install the QXLDOD driver like shown at 6:36 in the video. Just skip that and only install the SMBUS (5:58) and VIOSTOR (6:51) drivers. After 7:04 the rest of the steps is the same for Intel and M1 Mac! Enjoy!

I think the UTM download updated and now includes an OEM tag in the disk image. I managed to get it to work by right-clicking on the VM created from the download, picking "new from template" and creating two drives (in this order): IDE (removable) and VirtIo at whatever size you want. Follow the tutorial steps on that VM and it works great (at least for me).
Before you even start. This is a completely new VM... we're basically replacing the disk in the UTM download with our own to avoid the OEM (Black Sun PLC) screen.

I've used UTM for quite a while now mainly with an XP virtual machine running some very ancient programs. I want to run the old Logitech Harmony MyHarmony program to use with my old remote and I can't get it to work with XP so I thought that I could either create a Windows 10 or Monterey virtual machine both of which should support the old MyHarmony program. Unfortunately I have run into the same problem with both: I get into the UEFI shell and it times out on loading the OS. I've come closest to success with Windows 10 and in UTM the CD/DVD points to the Windows 10 ISO file but I still get the boot timeout in UEFI where the last line is "Press ESC in 1 seconds to skip startup, nsh or any other key to continue." and then I get the Shell> prompt. I'm at a loss as to how to proceed and would appreciate any help. Thanks.

its the drivers. don't use them. start it from scratch and emulate. i chose not to use the utm template as well but I copied the system and qemu settings from that template in the new setup. finally got it to work. installation process was different and I was not prompted with an option to chose between custom install or upgrade, i was instead prompted to the next step where the drive was available to choose for the installation location. the rest is self explanatory and simple. just takes a while. hope this helps.

@@MRCM311 i spent all night working on trying to make it run smoother/faster. So the trick is to virtualize it instead of emulating it but in order to do that you need a ARM version of windows which requires some command line experience to convert the UUP dump from microsoft into an ISO. nice tutorial but everything was working until the driver part even after downloading a new driver it still didnt show please help me
thank you so much for this extremely helpful tuto 👌🙏
Thanks.
I have the same problem. Have you found any solution?
Hey how do increase the storage. I want more storage when I start up windows on utm. But I can’t figure it out.
Here is a guide created by a member of the UTM community: guides.bludood.com/utm/useful-tips/resizing-a-disk
can someone help me why after the installation it shown "your device ran into a problem and needs to restart". is there any error that can be fixed ?
did you fix it?
same problem here
I installed the everything but in the end it was asking for internet connection , and stoped everything. What should I do ?
something told me to just stop after step 7 now I've messed everything up trying to do step 8. How do I get it back to default settings? Everything was finally installed properly before I tried to fool with with the internet and performance settings,. Now I keep getting failed to boot error on startup. How do I fix this please somebody literally been trying to install this all day this is ridiculous
I have a problem that at 6.29 in the video that in my set up it is showing that set correct drivers I downloaded last version of it by using your link can you solve my problem
Thanks for sharing , but I wanna know that after installing the Windows , can I delete the windows iso file ? Deleting it may effect the installed windows?
You can delete it without causing any problems in the VM.
Great job buddy. It really works like magic and I’m gonna help share this link. Everything is working fine except that I couldn’t the very last part done and it’s like I have 2 windows 10 vm running . Any reasons for that please ?
everything went smooth for me but telling me black sun plc email login once everything was done. what to do??
im getting the same thing for some reason!
its the drivers. don't use them. start it from scratch and emulate. i chose not to use the utm template as well but I copied the system and qemu settings from that template in the new setup. finally got it to work. installation process was different and I was not prompted with an option to chose between custom install or upgrade, i was instead prompted to the next step where the drive was available to choose for the installation location. the rest is self explanatory and simple. just takes a while. hope this helps.
@@donadoamed yo good looking but I actually got windows 11 using parallels for what I needed.
And this process I got to get around it another method but windows 10 was too slow for me
@@MRCM311 i spent all night working on trying to make it run smoother/faster. So the trick is to virtualize it instead of emulating it but in order to do that you need a ARM version of windows which requires some command line experience to convert the UUP dump from microsoft into an ISO. It runs a lot smoother and quicker now. If you need some assistance in trying it out, just follow the tutorial UTM offers on their site. Ive never been a fan of parallels. I tried it recently just to give it another shot and i hated it even more after that experience.
3 hours and done) thank you very much )from russia with love

Thank you so much
Ive installed Tiny 10 on UTM. But unable to get internet access, usb sharing. Kindly guide.
Sir, you helped a lot! Thx
I followed the exact steps shown in the video but with Windows 8.1. It doesn't show the login screen after the text "Display output is not active" text. Did I do something wrong? Or maybe do I need to wait longer?
I believe the Virtio-GPU is not compatible with Windows 8.1 - so just switch the Graphics card back to QXL-VGA. That one works fine with Windows 8.1.
@@conath I have same problem, but I did it with windows 10
