Calà del Sasso: the ancient path of tree trunks

Excursion with the Gruppo Escursionistico Cogollese (GEC) from Valstagna to Chiesa di Sasso (Asiago) along the ancient road known as "Calà del Sasso"; consisting of 4444 steps, it is the longest (open to public) staircase in the world.
It was built in the XIV century in order to carry down to the valley the tree trunks cut in the forests of the plateau; the timber was then made rafting along the Brenta up to the arsenal of Venice.
