Charles: wants her because they have similar background. She will be the sense of escape for him and a challenge as well. The reason why is when he becomes president, he will be surrounded by all these people kissing his ass and kneeling over backward for his every desire. With candace, he know she will never do that for his ass, so she is his dose of reality within that environment.
Candace: has daddy issues, mommy issues, life issues, etc. She knows the possibility of having a great life with Charles but she feels as if she doesnt deserve it. When someone has had such a rough life and is always on the losing end, it's hard for them to know when they have finally won. She has the mentality that happiness comes at a steep cost. A life of contentment with Charles is big risk for her and one she is not willing to take since she feels her thieving schemes will guarantee her a positive outcome. Essentially, candace has the mentality of the only person she can trust to do right by her is herself.
Charles is young,smart and driven he needs a multitasking goal oriented type of woman,I love me some Charles :-)
I think Candice is avoiding Charles because she is afraid that she might truly fall for him. She has already opened her heart to Oscar and got burned!! I believe she has shut down gone back to her old self and her guard is up!. I think Charles is smitten by Candice because she is like the forbidden fruit. However, I don't think Candice can play the First Lady role because it is so far out of the box and the norm for her. I don't want Candice teaming up with Oscar I wanted him to die!!
You really don't see how this is going to play out.....Charles is a judge. Candace needs a judge to get her money, plus keep her and Benny out if jail for killing Quincy. Candace like him but she was burnt really bad with Oscar so Che doesn't trust Charles or herself with Charles. Candace is a woman who has been searching for love her entire life. She never got love from her mom, doesn't know who her dad is classic low self esteem woman. I can see Candace getting her revenge on Jim, Catherine, Veronica and David and them becoming the have nots!!
I think Candace doesn't want to be with anyone who's more powerful or more thuggish than she is.She's like Veronica,has to be the one in control.
I honestly think she does want to be with him but there are a few factors with it. Number one is power. Charles isn’t like Jim and he let her know he holds all the power from the get go. Jim was blinded by the ass and let her get away with too many things that Charles won’t allow. Secondly, Candace knows she’s damaged and she even said there’s no way with all the shit she’s done she could ever be First Lady. She cares about Charles , she doesn’t want to tarnish his reputation with her nonsense. Also Charles tested her several times including how loyal she is. She wouldn’t give Benny up even if it meant she had to go down .

Candice has feelings for Charles and she doesn't want to also she cannot bend break or fold him . He has been where she's at now the game is the same the players just change .i loveeee Charles he would be that one that will change Candice. He will break her she cannot out Witt him that's a problem for her.she needs to hook up with him she will live like she wants she should give love a chance her little games are getting played out and she always loses at the end u would think that the death of her son would change her outlook of life. She has a chance at a a great life but that's Candice. I would like to see Charles romance her up.
None of Tyler Perry's story lines make sense he's all over the place with this show. The fact that he wrote that Candice son was murdered was a disgusting story line

I agree that it would be hard to cover up the truth about Candace. Hypothetically speaking , if she were to become Charles's first lady, one of her former clients during college could resurface and try to blackmail her. She could quickly become an embarassment to Charles, herself and the country.Then, its possible that Candace would hire someone to have that person handled. I'm new to the show, but I'm enjoying Candace character. I've been a fan of hers since she was on One Life To Live. Her character is devious, but fun to watch. Also, Tika did play Michelle Obama in the real world. So, I think Tyler was eager to write that scenario in the script.

I don't think Charles is a good man...something about him is creepy. He is all a front and I think he is a bad guy underneath. Either Candace doesn't want to fall in love or she senses that something is off with him...or maybe that he is like her in being shady!

I think some of these plot lines get muddled or shoved aside because time moves way faster than the show. The plot lines are ripped from headlines, trends, tabloids, or other shows and movies (including some of his own), and then when the public gets bored and moves on, my guess is so does Tyler. The problem is, it’s only a few days later on the show and the distance between intent, execution, and air time is vast. A few years ago we were much closer to the news of Schwarzenegger’s love child with the Latina housekeeper. Charles’ doppelgänger, Obama was also in the White House (and not for nuthin’ Tika played Michelle). Also the series Scandal was a game-changing, runaway smash in its second season just as this show dropped, so I can see some trend spill-over there too, as the storyline started referencing election fever and boss-lady fixers falling for the men they’re molding.
Speaking of dated - I also think Veronica was initially written to be the patented Tyler Perry snooty, black, bougie lady - only interested in social status and appearances - so her not wanting Jeffery out made story sense on some level. But in five years I can’t imagine even voters in Savannah would care that a politician had a handsome, gay Boy Scout of a son like Jeffery who stayed out of her political way. Most people can’t even name their Lt. Governor and spouse, let alone any of their kids. So, social status and appearances were thrown out the window as Veronica’s motivation, and by putting Jeffery in jail, she creates a REAL scandal for her scandal-free son and herself - which makes NO sense. Before that, her “simple bitch” meltdown in the hotel bar-lounge (in front of every security camera) would ruin whatever carefully curated, high-society image she had left. Now she’s just crazy, self-destructive, and dated.
Most shows riff off current trends but with this show clocking in at 2 months storyline - five years later - the trends are clashing, blending, and dating before our eyes.
I think Charles could be her father.
They look nice together, but Charles is greater than her and she cant deal with that she likes being ontop, so she will never give into CHARLES. So Charles just needs to select someone else.

Candace is up on game. That's a challenge plus she's good in bed. Just like women who like bad boys, some get caught up on bad girls. Candace will get hers eventually. Charles is not a challenge he's already caught as long as there is another way to get money she's moving on.
