Today, I'm sharing with you my updated beachy waves short hair tutorial using a curling iron by Kristin Ess. This tutorial is very in depth and I wanted this video to be a video that you can always come back to and learn how to create these really gorgeous beachy waves for any hair length. I have had the hardest time using a straightener to get waves. This tutorial was amazing! I was able to get great waves right off the bat!
I'm jealous, that you can part your hair so easily. My hair is complicated. One single hair is straight, one single is curly, one is wavy. And so on. Styling is nerve-racking for me.

Maybe, you should try the curly girl method - sounds like your hair is naturally wavy or curly but got damaged from styling.

I was skeptical that this technique would really do anything different than how I usually curl my hair but I tried it today and it really does make a difference. Adding that unwind-twist action really does give a different shape and texture to the curls. Love it!
Omg!! Not to be dramatic, but.... this tutorial changed my life. I have straight hair in the front, and wavy hair in the back. This technique is perfect for mimicking my natural wave and now all my hair looks the same. Thanks for posting!!!
The only technique that works for my hair! I have thick medium length hair and traditional curling methods always leave me with a weird mushroom look. Thsi is the only technique that works. It’s fast, easy and gives me the perfect beachy waves I always wanted. Thanks a million!
I tried this technique and was finally successful!! I’ve never been able to get this look with a wand or a flat iron... it’s always just way too complicated for me. But for whatever, this video made total sense to me. And I was able to curl my hair this morning and I absolutely LOVE it! I think this is going to be my new go-to curling style! I am guessing there is a learning curve to this, because I tried this today and I burned my neck, melted a corner of my phone, and it ended up looking like a mess. 😩

I discovered “curling” my hair like this, this past summer. It’s super fast stays well in my hair and looks sooo cute!
So it doesn't looks as great as yours but after a few tries- I got it! I finally feel like I found a way of curling that makes me look like an adult - not a kid playing with curlers lol Thank you!!

@milabu I need to thank you for posting this; you haved saved me from spending more time AND money on seeking the perfect beachy wave! Absolute GAME CHANGER!! I have super fine hair that does not hold a curl for anything since I was about 20 years old 17yrs ago! Who knew I could achieve such great results using my old ass curling iron! 48 hours later, I STILL have a loose wave! I did use some BIG SEXY HAIR VOLUME gel (not much) before I used the blowdryer.
THANK YOU a billion and one times! I wish you could know exactly how grateful I am. I know, "first world problems" - but I've done so much to my hair over the last 17 years...EVERY type of hair extension (thought length and/or volume would increase odds of beautiful beach waves, 30 waving/styling/braiding/heatless curlers/hot rollers/curling gadgets, at LEAST $20,000.00 (sadly, that's 100% true), and all along it was the $10 twenty-year-old curling iron in the storage bin, in the attic.

Could you do a video on some easy sporty hairstyles? Especially pull trough braids since those are the easiest and only ones I can do myself 😅 I have very long hair (like to my but) and really enjoy your videos even though we have very different hairstyles. I still love your tips and tricks because they work on my long thin hair 2 🥰

This is beautiful and how I always ask my stylist to do my hair! I cannot do it. I have no idea why, but it’s just difficult for me. So I use a wand simply because it’s fastest for my hair. :)

I use a wand to curl my hair, though I do see a curling iron in my future. I never use a flat iron to curl, for some reason it never works. Even hairdressers have tried to curl my hair with a flat iron and it disappears after a few minutes. 😅😅

At 3.14 you tried to show how to curl towards the face by putting the tong in at the back of the section, it didn’t work because you have to put your tong in towards the face and twist, I do alternate
How do you do the ends? I have the same curling iron but get such a bad crimp from the clamp!!
