I think the secret units are legendary fighters of their faction or are isolated people that were trapped and mistreated by their factions, or are old evil bads. I think Vlad is a bad guy (which is obvious) Uller may have been a savior that has been raised in a harsh environment because of his terrible faction. Shogun and lady jade are heroes of their factions.
Shogun is a military leader who, in real-world history, has more power than the emperor, as the emperor in ancient Japan was more of a figurehead. The Shogun was a highly-ranked military general, not a hero.

Pretty sure the farmer faction takes place during the medieval duration, but not in Western Europe. Or they could just not be in royalty, and ate just peasants
I know Neon faction is no longer in the game but I pretty sure it would be when technology was dicovered and made huge advancements through out the years and its likely about 2056
I think the farmer faction was from the new stone age, aka the Neolithic era, which is when agriculture was invented. Now that I think about it it makes sense why it comes after the stone age faction.
I just completely disagree with the dark age statement of yours, mainly because the Islamic golden age happened and the Chinese were having a lovely time so I think the dark ages weren't that dark. but the rest of the video was amazing, good job.

Probably the farmer faction represents the time when the the primal men bigan farming crops, and intstead of moving to place to place, they built actual villages and staid there at least until other groups of cavemen attacked. here are some facts that proves this all: The Farmer faction comes right after the tribal, when you are choosing a faction. Thats it........... Facts that prove this wrong: the units for this faction look to medieval, and if they were representing the time im describing, they probably would have less clothes and would wear more animal pelts. The farming equipment is to medieval as well. The houses are ALLSO to medieval..... Yeah this was probably a big fat thic waste of time since im now starting to agree that this is just a part of the mediaval faction........soooooooo conclusions: Im a big dumbass and wasted to mutch time on this...... Thats it.............
